Default It has been one year since I have collected aircraft models

And here is the outcome

it has been my goal to collect the A380s from all airlines but it seems like I am late to this hobby, that many of them are either already sold out or there is no stock in my local model shops.

So, how about you guys? How does your collection go and are you satisfied yet?

That is a good start for one year. Remember,it doesn't matter how many models you have,it does matter that you really like what you do purchase.

Yes I recall my first venture into airliners and went somewhat over the top with the spending. That's something to remember as well as it's very easy to buy every model in sight Joking aside, I am happy with the models I've already collected as there has been a good selection of releases over the years. Manufacturer's from time to time have done another release of the same livery. So there's the possibility the model you missed might appear again under a different registration.

It’s best to stick with stuff you really want. Now, I’m guilty too of buying something for different reasons but I’ve really maxed out in space unless I start boxing. I’ve probably bought 20-25 this year but I’ve also sold around 20 as well. I’ll be moving next year so maybe my new house will have more room.

Nice collection! But they cant be in the boxes. where will they be displayed?

Two major carriers that I collect Air india and American airlines(former silver livery).

I have every air india in 1/400 and 1/200. I have a Pacmin 1/100 AI 772 and will have a Pacmin custom 773 made by Atlantic models in the new AI livery coming in the next few weeks. I also collect AI timetables, "maharaja" statues and AI elephant with maharaja riding on top. Additionally I supplement my AI collection with other carriers of India in 1/400 with the major ones being Jet airways, Spicejet, and Indian Airlines.

I have 90% of the AA fleet in 1/400 and about 50% in 1/200. I have a 1/24 scale AA 747 cutaway and a 1/25 scale AA F100, and a 1/50 A300 (gray).
In 1/100 I have the AA 773,772, 762. An original AA 727-100 emergency exit door also sits well in my living room.

You can see my AI fleet pics in my other earlier posts but I will be posting pics of both updated collections once i get things organized around my apt (aka warehouse) as my wife calls it.

fully understand coming into the hobby relatively late myself and playing catch up. almost went down the a380 path but my biggest concern was space constraints. they're enormous.

Yes, the size is my primary concern. Usually, before I purchase a new model, I have to consider whether I really like that model and whether I have space to store it as well. It seems like I have already hit the capacity and I am going to sell a few of them out for spaces.

You know, spaces in Hong Kong is precious and so I cannot always display every of them. Usually, I will put 6-7 them on the shelves and I change the exhibits on a rotation basis. Now the theme of my exhibition is Cathay Pacific, as I have just received the Cathay Pacific 777-200 B-HNL, and I am displaying all my Cathay Pacific and Dragonair models on the shelves, which I will add photos later. Out of my local pride, Cathay Pacific has always been my favorite airlines.

you did say a380 from ALL airlines. i only have 3... and they're taking up a whole lot of real estate!

6-7 200 scale aircraft is pretty impressive considering how much its display footprint real estate costs in hong kong! and i can only imagine how difficult it is for you to choose which model to get especially since cathay pacific is very well represented in the diecast world!

Congratulations on your first year milestone. Keep on collecting and all the best. Don't worry about missing out on some A380's they will keep up from time to time.

I agree with you.The Boeing 747 is my favorite aircraft.

I have diecast models, plastic kits (1/100 scale) and 1/100 display models
of the Boeing 747 in my collection.

Actually I have 4 747, which are the CPA, HDA, QTR, and KLM as shown in the picture.

Surely I desire to have more 747 and I am waiting for a re-release of the Lufthansa 747-8. I have also been thinking about getting an ANA official 747 if a deal appears. Last but not least, Atlas 748 and ABC 748 are in my list as well.

In the past, I also owned a BAW 747 too, made by GJ released earlier this year. I sold that for a good price so that I could buy more models.

For the most regrettable sale I have ever made, that is the sale of LH A340-600. I sold that for ard $150 but now I couldn?t buy it back at that price.

This is my current configuration. Although the theme is Cathay Pacific, there is a KLM 747 inside because I would have space left if I only put the CX/KA models on the shelves.

And actually, if I put them in a high-density configuration, I think the shelves can accommodate around 7-8 models. But I am not doing so because I need a good lateral clearance to prevent collisions.

I think the biggest 1:100 model that I would be able to accommodate would be the Airbus A320

I also love the 747 in 1/200, but have the same space issue for both display and storage. I tried to convince myself that if I just got the IF 747 rollout I wouldn't need any others as it has the logos for many of the carriers that flew it. Of course that didn't work, and now I have 7 at home, one being delivered this weekend and another on order.
