Gosford 747 aircraft retired after 26 years in service for Qantas

IT RACKED up enough miles to complete 120 trips to the moon and back — and now the Gosford 747 aircraft has been retired to its desert graveyard in the US after 26 years of unblemished service for Qantas.

Dubbed the “Queen of the Skies”, the Gosford flying kangaroo completed its final trip after taking off from Sydney on Sunday just after 1pm bound for San Francisco.
Qantas’ 43rd 747, it was randomly named after the city of Gosford before it made its first flight from Seattle on August 30, 1991.

Cool model ! Thanks !

When will QF retire their B744's completely ?

For info, Corsair will keep them for another 5-6 years, they've all been through D-Check and cabin refurbishement this summer, as announced by the captain in September 2016 :

Is it possible to edit your pictures and save them/show them in a smaller size (fit screen about max 1200px)?
It takes me about 3 screens to get an idea of the images you post and then still i don't have the complete image to look at.

I like to see others collections/models, but in sizes like this it is almost impossible and that's a waste

Thank you for your effort

Unfortunately, this is what is see.....
I don't know if this is "only" my screen, but i doubt it.

Since photobucket stopped their services to forum boards, i use Flickr now which let you select the size you wish to display on the board.
Maybe an option?

Something like this;

Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread, please continue

Will she be flown to California for storage,or is she going to be preserved for a museum? Pity to cut her up.

[QUOTE=DragonWings80;2448930]Cool model ! Thanks !

When will QF retire their B744's completely ?

Qantas plans to maintain its 5 youngest Boeing 747-400 & its 6 747-400ER fleet at a total of 11 747-4's aircraft for the period ahead to take advantage of the growing demand for international air travel and lower fuel prices, as the airline group reported a record profit in the first half of 2015/16.
Qantas said in a statement accompanying its financial results two 747-400s that were previously scheduled for retirement by the end of 2015/16 will be retained.
This would help “meet demand requirements in the strong international market as Qantas International transitions to the Boeing 787-9”, Qantas said in a statement.

and David (Kitty Hawk 1903) Yes this aircraft is up for sale in the desert now. Cut her up will happen with the miles on the clock
