Look what's happening here... the Northwest thermometer caught my eye, but what's up with the picture vs the description?

Whoohooo! At last, Qantas first jet aircraft VH-EBA. Talk about filling the gap's in a lot of collections. A B707-138 (new tooling) smallest in the Boeing 707 family! Thank you Inflight I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. I will take the Qantas A330-200 city-flyer as well. Thank you and thank you again. Time to watch our return of Qantas first 707 restoration of this aircraft now permanently based at the Qantas Founders Museum at Longreach JP & Yustas

707 retires to Longreach

I already have the Garuda A330 on pre-order. Maybe will get the Qantas 707 also, but not sure. Several of the 747s look tempting, but I need to pass due to space limits.

New tooling for the B 707-138 …

I look forward to seeing pictures of this model.

We don't see much from the picture but it seems it really shows a B 707-138, the first version, powered with PW JT3C-6, before it was brought to B standard.
Short fin, no ventral fin.
See photo (Bil Fishwick, VH-JET#1 and her sisters).

We should have a new wing without the 'glove" between the fuselage and the inboard engines.
I hope that the details of the flaps and spoilers will be reworked.
Please Inflight, bear in mind that the chord of the flaps is constant, all the spoilers have the same size and of course, there are no spoilers under the wings.

The B 707-138 and 138 B are the short body of the standard -120 (long body), the fuselage is one frame shorter than the B 720, in our scale, the difference is almost unnoticeable (3,4 mm), but because of the fuselage frames which were removed ahead of the wing or behind to make a B 707-138 from a B 707-120 (long body) the position of the wing is a bit different from the B 720.

Will we have an accurate B 707-138 ?

Jean Pierre.

Qantas was always working on ways to move replacement engines on their routes to minimize disruptions as a pioneer of long distance flights.

It's one of many ideas Which are welcome. Also I would love to see Qantas 40th Years of service as this was only one of two celebrations of Qantas birthday's the 40th year on the B707 painted on the whole fleet and the 75th year logo on the whole fleet and that is that for Qantas Birthday special birthday paint jobs

Concerning the NEW TOOL 707-138 QF , this model should have :
- a short tail
- no ventral stabilizer
- HF antenna on the right wing
- should not be based on a 720 frame

I am for so many collectors. Some have waited years for this one. Even if the Qantas has a couple of mistakes.

I agree with you and Jean Pierre,

The first six Qantas 707-138's where delivered with short tail and no ventral fin. All Qantas 707-138's had HF antenna on the right wing. This aircraft was returned to Boeing for conversion to a 707-138B (tall fin, ventral fin) added August 1961. Also new engines upgraded to Pratt & Whitney JT3D-1's at that time. It was repainted to V-jet livery a month later.

I am sure Inflight will get all this right, and have researched this aircraft 707-138 & 707138B's & their history well. The mould should only have the body of the air frame and a separate mould for tail fins either in metal or plastic so they can be interchanged depending what model variant Inflight chooses to release. Ventral fins can be added for 707-138B' for releases too.

As this is new tooling we will have to wait and see the product I guess.

It would also be nice if this model has magnetic gears and wheel up in-flight display mode option available too keeping in line with most of all the new tooling.

A hot seller for sure

A few more words to make things clearer …

A B 707-138 with an accurate wing (no glove, flaps and spoilers reworked), would be a very clever choice, such a wing paves the way for a true and accurate B 707-120 long body (Pan Am, American Airlines, United, Continental, TWA) and -220 (Braniff) + all the airlines using second hand aircraft.
72 aircraft built, including the short body -138.
The very first B 707s …
They all share the same wing.

These iconic aircraft deserve the best treatment.
Bob, I know you can do that and I will be one of your first customers.

Jean Pierre.

There is no P in the reference number of these models, they will not be polished.

The SABENA ref. is IF741SAB001P, there is a P, it will be polished.
