Hi Guys,

Looking to add a BA 747 to my collection... I am torn between the GJ version or the new IF version that is due soon...

Interested on people view which one would be the best... I like that the IF will have the Crest added to the titles as per current livery tweak... but I like the GJ version as can display inflight mode with removable gears...

Torn between the two...

Any views???

Totally out of the box: Go for the Hogan version(s). I have one and am very fond of it.

Also there are two versions available, one with the crest. And with Hogan you also can display "in flight".

I have the original IF200 release and this holds a special place in my collection, however, my GJ version is the better model in my opinion, mainly as it removes the fuselage seem the IF mold uses for the wings, the engines look better and the hump is straight at the top. Obviously removal gears is a big plus too.
The IF200 model does one major ace up its sleeve though, it has a superior wing flex - and standing back and looking at one in the cabinet, especially if the model is part of a fleet, in my opinion, the IF200 looks better, mainly as you notice less the flaws of the older mold highlighted above.
Really, it's really down to personal preference.

There has been plenty of discussions about which is which.

Still. As Aussiejets correctly states: The choice is yours. They all have faults. So if you want a perfect one, then comission one (and be willing to pay a real premium for it).

I don't come here much anymore as unfortunately not as big a collector as I once was, and I don't buy as many models anymore, so just wanted to ask the question on the BA 747s and see where the discussion between collectors of the two models would go... you know, as this is a hobby forum so discusions about models is a part of the process here is it not???

... but whatever, I guess ill just choose one, spend my money and shut up... maybe disappear again for a while... then pop up again and ask another silly question about model aircraft on a model aircraft forum...

I have the old IF and the new GJ (and the JF and JC). The new GJ is good, but mine is nose high, as are all the photos of the GJ that I have seen. See http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...meet-55-a.html

Thank you ukjohna, now that is a helpful thread, great comparison and just what I was thinking when asking the question... I am swaying to the Gemini200 version
