I know it's possibly too late but if GJ could change the rego of G2QFA653 of VH-QAN to the rego of the first Qantas 787-938 to be delivered from Boeing VH-ZNA or any of the rego's below, that would be great. If its too late, I will grab a VH-QAN as I did post this Qantas artwork in the 1:1 section when Qantas announced a new livery.

Below is the 797-938's delivery schedule from Boeing to Qantas, these are subject to change of course with Boeing's manufacturing process and so on. The aircraft's names are TBA, however the rego's are locked in. If Qantas does keep with tradition, the first new type of every Boeing aircraft delivered was always called "City of Canberra" Let's see what they name VH-ZNA....

Just announced today 26/04/2017. Plane spotters get ready.
The registrations and tentative delivery dates for the first four QANTAS’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner's are:

VH-ZNA due for delivery 12 October 2017
VH-ZNB due for delivery 01 December 2017
VH-ZNC due for delivery 31 December 2017
VH-ZND due for delivery 22 February 2018

The three-class configured aircraft has a total of 236 seats made up 42 Business, 28 Premium Economy and 166 Economy seats. Route proving and crew familiarization domestic flights will be undertaken prior to the first long haul service being Melbourne to Los Angeles on 15 December 2017. The much anticipated Perth – London Heathrow non-stop services are expected to go on sale sometime this week with the first flight to occur sometime in late March 2018.

Thanks GJ/JCW

Qantas to retire 747-438 before it's 100th birthday (founded 16th November 1920)

The last six are 747-438ER's VH-OEE, VH-OEF, VH-OEG, VH-OEH, VH-OEI, VH-OEJ

Maybe I'm in the minority (maybe not) but I really don't like the way that GJ handled the cockpit windows on the two new Air Canada birds. Really kind of ruins the effect of having the black around the cockpit in the first place.

I agree...they could have been done a little darker...or should have been the same as the Qantas 787 cockpit window colors, then the mask on top. Looks odd on the model.

I'm with you. I think I'm going to pass on this model now as a result. Looks cheap the way they've done it...

I agree, the grey is much too light. They've done much better with the A350.

Why are at least 2 or the DAC sponsors (ARD and Diecast) still showing 4 Hawaiian releases this month on their sites TODAY? If they are not offical why post them and should Gemini not take action to have the sites delete the items? If DAC chooses to not acknowledge the Hawaiian releases, have those sponsors been contacted bey DACand asked to delete the items from their sites?

These are most likely pre-production photos and I don't want to cause any mass hysteria like the JCW Qantas Rio 747-4 XX2416 however, on the Qantas model pictured above, I can only say what I can see, or rather what I cant see. There is no Qantas Red on the wing tips on the upper surface with the white Qantas Roo and there are no Red Roo's on the engines. As I say I expect these a pre-production photo's and not photo's of the finished products. We will see I guess. Not a bad effort GJ considering not one of these QF 787-9's has not come off the assembly line yet let a lone go through the Boeing's paint shop yet and there are no photos to work off.

Most dealers are showing them...including EZToys, Waffle, Jetway Models, and Diecast Airplane....although I know they won't come in April. But I hope we see them later.

Doesn't seem to be any 3D features on the top either.... (besides the antennas and beacon light). if the satcom/wifi is painted on that would be a bummer as well.

Had such high hopes for this model. Hope it can be fixed before they are sent out

Yes, and Gemini has lately been cutting corners in this aspect. Simple outlines of satcom / wifi bulges. Looks cheap and cheesy.

I've avoided buying any model where they've done this and I will continue to do so. It's amazing how much more the model pops when they include this feature. Such a shame people can be this lazy and careless in my opinion.
