Will keep a close eye on that one as there is no interest in the one I'm selling here on dac and I'm only asking €150.

the stand reads 08 March 2014, what makes this plane so special? as Flight 370 goes?
Was this model made as a memorial for the aircraft after it crashed or something?

Just curious.

i'd be wary of any manufacturer that claims the model is a limited edition, yet conveniently exclude a limited edition numbered card together with the model

I was offered this model when new. I believe it was around $150 USD? I think 2 maybe 3 different Malaysian B777's were made at once? My facts are not in concrete,as the model is not in my collecting criteria. As for the number of units made,I would not question that at all. I do remember the models were not a significant run. I refrain from divulging the retailer who offered me the model,as I do not have his permission to do so. The model is certainly on the up and up.

Information about the re-release of 9M-MRO & 9M-MRD in this 1:200 of the form has been mentioned numerous times here is the most recent link and post#25 will confirm the quantities of the re-releases with more lighter grey colour matched to the the Malaysia fleet colours. Obviously, the seller does'nt know that there are another 96 MRO's on their way or hopes the buyers out there don't know.

so it's essentially 80 too dark grey belly 9m-mro's vs 96 correct grey belly 9m-mro's? boy is the seller taking the buyer to the cleaners with this one...

Is that the B777 that did around the globe with one stop?

Yeah, I've got one on preorder for the re-release with the correct gray color. I guess for those collectors who are not up to date on upcoming releases might pay that much?

I have sent off an email asking if the "Super Ranger" version is planned? That one I would buy. Remarkable really. Take off from Seattle, flew East bound to Kuala Lumpur. Land for fuel and check engine oils.. Have a look on a map and see just how far that is. On ground one hour, back to Seattle. They were going for a time record as well.

Sorry for the extra post. Here is the info. A decal was on the aircraft between flight deck and door 1. The stand base could easily be made with all the statistics.

Boeing continued advancing the design of the 777 and on September 3, 1996 rolled out its first 777-200/ER aircraft. On October 7, 1996 the 777-200/ER made its first flight. Less than a year later on April 1, 1997 Boeing flew a 777-2H6/ER (9M-MRA) in Malaysian Airline colors non-stop 12,457 miles from Boeing Field in Seattle eastward to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 21H 23M. This broke the "Great Circle Distance Without Landing" record for an airliner. Continuing the great circle circumnavigation round-the-world returning to Boeing Field, this aircraft set a new world speed record for the fastest round-the-world flight by a commercial airliner. Total flight time round-the-world was 41H 59M over a distance of 23,210 miles.

Here you go David, I have posted this pic before too. The long ranger logo is at the front and the 50th anniversary decals are at the rear. Yes this model is coming in this format as you see it, along with the re-release of MRO & MRD. Orders to Di Kong

That's the one. Thank you for posting this picture. I will defiantly be purchasing this version. Given the significance of the record.

What makes the model go from $100 - $1000 ? because it crashed and people died?

lousy way to make your money.

History showed that we humans never stop to cash in on whats left on the deceased: Marilyn, Elvis & MJ, Titanic etc.

But Pan Am & MAS until now... is quite a niche cash in, not as commercialized as above (ex: Elvis stuff is widely available in many souvenir shops worldwide).

I think I'll consider both MRA & MRO... MRO because I really need a clean standard livery to compliment my JFox 744 MPP
