I really like the 'mask' cause it looks very modern but yet the black letters, logo and tail are retro details.

I would have preferred a bit more colour and a bit more design on the fuselage but at least they did not do the whole body white...

Just awful... sorry I'm not a fan of that... looks like a 6 year old designed it... shame to lose the toothpaste livery....

Looks very Delta...I too prefer the toothpaste livery, this seems like a step backwards. The cockpit design is quite cool, reminds me of the Lancia Stratos, one of my all time favourite cars, but the rest is - well it is a bit boring.

Looks like they copied Delta but used black in lieu of dark blue. Another blah livery. I absolutely loved their "toothpaste" livery as many of you refer to it.

That's one ugly livery, but at least no more wrong greenish GJ models.

I'm undecided on this. I never liked the 'toothpaste' livery, particularly because the tail always looked very busy and "1990's" to me. I think if the forward fuselage logo was moved up beside the AIR CANADA font and a red cheat line was added from the cockpit to the horizontal stabilizer, it would make the design pop a lot more. And maybe the tail should be red with a white logo. Something more like this:

I love the return to the old maple leaf roundel and I think the logo on the belly is a nice touch. It's curious why they put the logo on the inside of the engines but not the outside. Overall, it looks like they tried to combine their 60's/70's livery with the green tail livery in an attempt to make as many people happy as possible but they missed the mark. Not by a lot, but by enough. A red logo on a black tail will be harder to see from a distance. It's an odd decision. It's an improvement over the toothpaste livery, but with room for more improvement.

Wow I really like it. Would liked to have seen the DC-9's, in this livery, back in the day when they flew them.

Completely agree! the only thing to make it better is a thin red line the would run parallel to the black, kind of like how US Airways did.

A cheat-line would have been awesome.

Hmm...this is really just a modernisation of the 1990's livery isn't it ? Almost as if the now 12 years old mint toothpaste look was just intended as interim ? For me it's acceptable just not at all radical, bold or even innovative. Possibly too much black, I'd have sooner replaced the underbelly with red and made the nacelles silver or polished, leaving a black tail.

It'll do but really doesn't say very much in terms of Air Canada or even 'Canada' to me. I do like the racoon sunglasses though, that's a nice retro 'doffing off the hat' to the 1970's dark shroud. Someone said the tail maple logo looks like a red star ? Maybe in tribute to Rush ? ;-)

Anyway, I guess model manufactures are thrilled about every new livery. Now they can knock out old molds with new liveries and people will have to buy it, if they want to have an up-to-date fleet.

I think it's the opposite. Kind of a retro-treatment of the 1990's livery. It's not far off of the 1960's livery.

It's actually growing on me the more I look at it. I'll wait and see it in person to decide what I really think.

Another boring 'same old' livery that will hardly be noticed by the vast majority of AC passengers.

At a busy airport the Air Canada aircraft will only be distinguished by the cockpit mask which is a bit original. That apart, the livery is like a thousand others out there.

Give it a few months and it'll look like it was designed ten years ago.

My wife and I went to the employee reveal at the Hangar in Vancouver a few hours ago where they had an Airbus A321 painted in the new colours.

The black is supposed to represent the granite and rock formations of the Canadian Shield. The cockpit mask is to represent indigenous Canadian birds - although a Captain I know thought it looked like a Super Hero mask!

Overall I like it. Nice to see a return of the red Air Canada Roundel as well.

Below are some photos taken by my lovely wife (Mrs. ACpilot) who always takes the 1:1 scale photos in the family.

Respectfully, I disagree. newCDN's illustration was an attempt to "normalize" the new AC livery. In other words, his depiction is much closer to the cookie cutter liveries we are used to. He took away all of the elements that are somewhat novel/quirky (in a good way) about this new livery. I like the face mask. I like that the logo is placed lower on the fuselage. I like that the titles are done in "alternate" colors. I like that the tail logo is lower/larger than what one would expect.

I'm really digging this new livery exactly how it is. It's simple but not cliche. It's modern and yet the face mask adds a slight retro feel. Good colors, very clean overall. Anyway, different strokes and such.

Navy instead of black would be much more flattering. Also, those lapels on the men's jackets are awfully skinny. I'd like to see a more classically proportioned lapel. And those Windsor knots... yikes. Four-in-hand, please.

This is just sad. I agree that it looks like a child designed it. What was wrong with the ice blue? This is a step backwards. Way backwards. I also have no idea why they chose black. I guess it's like the Drake effect with the Raptors.

It was disappointing to say the least. Was hoping for something more in the lines of Air Canada Rouge. However I will say far better than toilet bowl blue. Everyone said toilet bowl blue will grow on you. Sorry never grew on me. I think this livery will do the B-777 far better than today's livery. Very much Delta looking.

Reminds me of a post I posted in the 1:1 section of Qantas new livery. New Qantas logo for 787-9 Drealiners in 2017
Have a good read of the above link before re-posting here

Interesting to see very similar comments on a brand new livery to suit the next generation of aircraft & transitioning of current aircraft. Regardless, going forward, this livery is what it is and what it will be. Like it or not. Personally I like it. Also it nods to the past liveries with the Red Maple leaf is very evident and the brand is retained. The black cockpits noses I would expect all flight deck crew appreciate although not too sure what Rocky mountains indigenous birds or not have to do with this, however it works well, and moving forward this is what will be. Well done AC on this new scheme. Time for the rest of to embrace as the future is here now

I actually think they did a pretty good job with the new livery. Every new pic I see of it makes me appreciate it more and more. It's one heck of an improvement over the fugly colgate blue with its 'lost in the Matrix' tail.

I am not Canadian... but do have a lot of love for Canada having visited numerous times... but I am struggling to see the Canadian inspirations in the design... especially the cockpit mask...

Hopefully it will grow on me in time and when seen in person... however, my personal taste thinks that when I have seen the toothpaste livery in mass at YYZ and YVR, that will take some beating for me... The old livery has been unique and stands out a mile and to me instantly shouts Canada... This new livery is just bland... but that's only my opinion...

Think this may end up a Marmite livery... either love it or hate it...

Almost a Euro-white scheme, but for the underside and cowlings. Not unattractive, but not particularly bold or creative either...chalk me up for the toothpaste livery as well, looks great on their 777s...

I don't like the cockpit mask, it sort of totally erases the windshield panels.

In my humble opinion the nose and cockpit windows makes the whole first impression of an aircraft,
now it is not even really possible to see these window panels at first glance.

I am not a fan of black and white colors in combination either, US dark blue (as US Airways) would
be a tad more elegant

I'm not a fan of Air Canada but having said that, i do like this new stylize livery... it's going back in time to the similar 1993-2004 livery but this time the maple leaf logo is a little old school, it's the familiar maple leaf circle logo of the past that Air Canada uses again for this new scheme...

That's actually pretty nice! It's too bad we couldn't see 1:1 of this and the released next to one another! Shucks!!

Maybe it will be nicer in person and I'll grow fond of it over time. We shall see..

Wow, what an improvement! That's very classy, love the flight deck 'mask' too.

Never liked the "toothpaste" livery, so this is an improvement to me. I like it.

For those unfamiliar, here is the history showing the various aircraft tails over the years.
