Default Gemini 200 Virgin A340-600 - Thoughts?

Hi all,

I've been looking to get this one but before I purchase a new mound, I wanted to know what you think of the mould and the model itself? If anyone could post photos I would really appreciate it

Thanks ... Ben

It's a great model. I would say if you have the chance to get one for a reasonable price go for it. It looks great together with the Gemini Virgin 787 and 747 in case you want to fleet build.

Lovely model! Many had issues with the vertical stabilisers arriving broken off. Some could be repaired. Colours are spot on. Looks lovely next to the rest of the fleet.

Thanks for your thoughts! Nice display! I'd like the new colours but I'd also love these colours to be released, https://m.planespotters.net/photo/54...irbus-a340-642

Thanks ... Ben

I highly recommend the A340-600 mold. I just received an Iberia 346. JC adds more details than Gemini, even though mold is the same/shared. JC adds engine nacelle access panel decals, better wing root landing light decal, correct darker paint on engine nozzles and radome and nose outlines. All adds up to a nicer effort IMO. Beware of loose horiz. stabs during shipping though.

I also highly recommend this model. It is, in my opinion one of the most beautiful aircraft and liveries out there. The mold is actually really well done, much better than the A330/A340-300 mold. As mentioned above, there seemed to be a problem with the horizontal stabs. My model arrived with them unattached, but I was able to glue them back on without a problem. I posted some pictures of mine earlier last year on the forum, but I'm sure you can find more pictures somewhere else

Highly recommend the Virgin A346... Gemini did a great job with it, the A346 mold is very good... and she looks great alongside her Virgin sisters...

Gemini have done a pretty stellar job with its 3 latest VS models, can't really fault the 787-9, A340-600 or 747-400 from the last year. I personally have only the 744, being a mainly 747 fan but I've seen the other two in the flesh, very worth buying if you are a VS or A340 fan.

Great Virgin Atlantic Collection!!

Is that the JC Virgin Galactic alongside them??? what's your thoughts on that??? I have been on the fence about adding that to my Virgin Collection so far...

My only gripe with this mold, and it is a minor one, is the too high nose center point which gives the whole nose an odd appearance to me, a common problem with a few JCW molds. I honestly don't see much change in the nose area from Singapore A340-500 that I have. The nose area is the most important part of a model to me because it is the 'face' and is the biggest factor of how a model looks. And I must have been lucky with that model. No detached horizontal stabilizers.

Other than that, a lovely model.

The only negative about this model is that 50% of the GJ models arrived at the shops with a damaged tail section after the elevators was detached. The second negative is that after l had one on pre order never managed to get one because of the shortage of the healthy models make it in one piece. Unfortunately I don't have one to meet my rest VA fleet. I am willing to buy one if someone has one for sale. GJ of EAGLE mould.

I have all of the VS fleet in 1/200 and add the following observation:
The colours on the Gemini A333 are great, not convinced that they are as good on the B744 & B789 as they are more metallic.
I went for the Eagle (Phoenix) A346 as it was released before the Gemini and it is an absolute peach! The only drawback is fixed undercarriage.

Here it is with the Gemini B789.
