I would take the Iberia if it was the Gemini 200 727-200 mould...

The SAA 747-200 seems cool but otherwise nothing for me!

I hope for InFlight's sake that their 737-8 MAX mould is much better than (and not based on) their 737NGs

Polished Springbok 747! My patience (and refusal to pay hundreds of pounds) for the original release has finally paid off! Aircrafts name is 'Magaliesberg', welcome to my fleet!

That new IF200 SAA B742 ZS-SAO (Magaliesberg) is the same reg as was previously
released by IF200 in the more modern color scheme.

I have the original IF200 SAA B742 (Drakensberg) but am extremely tempted to order the
new release as well -money being my only obstacle !!!

ok, we got the JCW 737-8 and now the IF200 Counterpart in the same scheme..... WHY?!? honestly, guess whose mould will sell.... why we're not able to get the classic 722s by JCW or GJ200....

i could go for the Mandarin SP.

It is as if all my prayers have been heard with both the AA A300 and now the SAA 747 in the old livery and polished. Even better than the previous model which wasn't polished and is being sold at ridiculous prices online. There goes the value yes, but it keeps other people's hobby more affordable. If you're in it for just the money then tough luck! I am glad that they listen to collectors by re-releasing models, makes everybody happy!

Oh and if they're reading this forum: SAA also flew the A300 in the old colours! It would make a lovely Inflight or JCW 1:200 model

Could the Iberia release be on a NEW 727-200 mould? The above description reads "polished," and off-hand I don't remember older InFlight 727-200 releases with a polished belly.

I have both, F-BPJJ and F-GCDI, very good despite the fact that the emergency escape ways on the wings are missing.

There is also the die cast Hogan F-BOJA with the blue cheat line, very nice, even if the "vee" of the windshield is not enough pronounced.
What have they done with the mould ?

Working on the experimental livery the F-BOJD had in 1969 …

I don't know if the old release's value will be affected so much. It was a different registration, so strictly speaking, this is not a re-release.

The original release is still the most expensive model in my collection because I started collecting long after it was released. So I concur with the sentiment that a new release is good for new collectors.

It grows the hobby and with more collectors, more models can be produced which would benefit us all if the prices can be kept in check by having larger production runs.

So they use their own mould, that means they're three separate 727 moulds: Inflight, Gemini/JC Wings & Jet-X...

To bad all the LH 727-200 models were done on the crappy IF 200 mould...

No there was one made by JC wings and Hogan released the bare metal one.
Btw does anyone know which mould Hogan is using for their 727s?

    Hogan had its own mould.

But I have not seen any model using this tooling for many years.
I am afraid that it disappeared in the same way as the Caravelle tooling …

To be fair, if you want to invest in something, model aircraft is probably a bad choice, vintage automobiles or limited edition printed artwork is a much more sensible way of making money in the longer term. I think the only models that will hold or increase their value are likely to be the Herpa Premium line, and even then only on select models, for example I very much doubt even a JC AA A300 will have much effect on the real value of the HP version.
The rare IF200 747 value was doomed the second a second manufacturer announced a 1:200 mold to rival, and surpass the IF line. I doubt if there would have been an extreme flood of 1:200 747s into the market had JCW not built their own updated 747 mold. Same could be said for the 1:72 F-14 for the military collectors.

Correct, collecting airplane models to make money is not the best way to get rich.. Collecting should also be in the reach of new collectors in the future, some releases are very good for them to aquire their models of interest. I for example am hoping of a rerelease pan am tristar.

About the hogan 727 mold; I see that the aviation megastore still has the LH polished in stock. It came out in 2015. Maybe we will se some more in the future. I am very happy with my hogan air france delivery 727, beautiful model!
