Default JC Wings Boeing 77W KLM Skyteam w/ EXTRA DETAILS

I decided to add some extra details and accurate weathering (using real pictures of the PH-BVD) to my JCW 77W KLM Skyteam.
The following is a not complete list of some additions:
Landing gear details
Pitot tubes
Raised aerials (e.g. ADF)
APU enhanced realism
I also repainted the engine exhaust cone flat grey and the engine core section was given a titanium look.

Please see pix and feedback appreciated:

Great work. The pitot tubes are something the manufacturers could easilly add. It can't be much harder than adding antennae and looks much better than the painted ones.

Spectacular work! Well done, really adds more realism. Where did you get the materials?

Thank you. Mixed media from many modelling sources. Brass parts, plastic kits and scratch builds...
Weathering w/ Tamiya Weathermaster kits...

Very nicely done. Love the modifications and they really add to the realism of the model. Really like the tail and APU also. Wish ALL manufacturers would add windshield wipers and pitot tubes to their models just like you did. JCW should add the extra tail detail to their models also.

Where did you get the extra parts, particularly the pitot tubes and windshield wipers? Are they custom made or available in a 1/200 scale detail kit?

More MLG details. This is correct to a 77W MLG.

I love highly detailed models but you don't know where to put your hand or fingers when you take the model in your hands.
The wings are still the best place to handle your model …

The problem is that when the manufacturer put your model in its cradle, you can't avoid accidents, consequently, you will receive models with broken Pitot tubes, lost windshield wipers, missing antennae .

I attach a picture of what I did on one of my models, 18 holes in the fuselage for the antennae, masts, Pitot tubes …
Not a golf course, it is a custom made SE 2010 Armagnac.

Difficult to imagine one of our manufacturers sending something like this to their customers.
But having all the items available to detail an existing model is possible … as long as you have the tools, the eyes and the fingers … but there is always a limit to what we can do.

That said, this is a beautiful example of what a talented collector/modeller can do.

Congratulations.

Jean Pierre.

Fantastic work on applying the extra details, looks like you would need a microscope and some special modeling tools to get that done, love the hydraulics you added to the landing gear, just nice.
It's that I find it kind of strange that model making companies can't actually add such details, that would definitely make them more worthy imo.

Nice job man

Agreed but I am afraid it would make the models even more expensive..It maybe would be an idea to deliver some parts like pitot tubes etc in a sealed bag apart from the model like the landing gears on some models. This is also done by a lot of model train manufacturers. The owner has to place these parts himself.

I disagree. As the extra money us 1:200 collectors we pay for this scale is the reason why we are seeking the fine details that are not available in smaller scales. That is why I collect 1:200. Well worth it in my opinion. However, I get your point somewhat, although putting models together (modeling) and collecting really is two different things. For me I would like models delivered like this = completed. If breakages is the issue of these fine parts, then, Mr Baerke your suggestion of extra's maybe a solution in a (zip lock bag) may work as long as there is the collectors choice to purchase or not. Flaps down is a good start though on the way forward.
Cheers

That is correct. I think these additions (wipers, Pitot tubes etc) makes the models as real as they can get.

Great details Alitalia. Very nice additions to your model.

Any additional details added by the manufacturer makes the model more fragile, specially during shipment. Recently spoke with a retailer. I was supprised how many models arrive with some kind of defect. The flaps down models do not make their work any easier.
