Post My Collection, Retro Airlines & More - Photos!

Hello all,

Below are a few images of my collection. The current collection includes, Delta (Widget), Pan Am, TWA, United (Battleship), Braniff and Eastern. I will continue to add more images to this thread as and when. I have begun to add some of my memorabilia to the cabinets and I am always on the look out for more from any of these airlines! Anyway, here are the photos...

Taken with a Canon 7D MKI +24-105L, I hope you like them!

Thanks ... Ben

Many thanks for the message John, your models still take centre place in the collection. Even with all the models being released today, they are still some of my favourites! I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and New Year too. By the way, do you have an Inflight 200 Eastern DC-8-63?

Thank you, my Delta C-130 is actually Smallworld not Aviation 200 so it is not polished. I am very happy with mine, the detail is superb. I have seen the Aviation 200 example in ARD and it did look nice with the polished bottom...

Every one of those is a treasure. Beautifully displayed too. As a 'retro' collector myself, I love your collection.

On your Eastern 720 the inboard engine appears to be pointed the same direction as the outboard - did you adjust it yourself or did the model just come that way?
It's the only thing keeping me from buying a turbojet 720 because all I can see is that crooked engine. I'd like to find a Braniff 720 with all the engines pointed in the
same direction.

Thank you! There is something about airlines (and the aircraft) from the past that todays aircraft don't have (apart from the MD-11 and remaining 747's), You have a great collection. Is that TWA 707 from Inflight? - I have the original but the polished bottom looks so nice!

On my 720, both of the pylons inboard and outboard on both wings are both in the same direction. I didn't adjust them myself, when I was choosing the model they looked correct on each model. I may have to get the Pan Am ones too. I hope this helps...

Cheers ... Ben

MD11BEN's model looks like it's the inflight release.

Btw great collection. I especially like the Pan Am and Delta fleet. I think you should pick up a Delta L1011, it's a great model.

Thank you, indeed mine is Inflight. I do indeed have the original Delta L-1011 from Inflight. You can just about seen it here next to my Smallworld DC-10. I am thinking on getting a polished version of the L-1011 too, can anyone recommend either Gemini or Aviation 200?

I really like the little accessories you have with each theme. I have the Aviation200 but have the initial release you might want to go for the Gemini L1011-500 to have a different type. You have some very rare models in your collection. Just picked up that Delta 727-100 a few weeks ago. Great little model.

My TWA B707 is the Aviation200 Trans World Airlines B 707-331B 1:200 (N18703) It's one of my favourites.

That's it, I forgot Inflight had its own 720. Well rats. I thought about buying one anyway, yanking the inboard engines off the pylons and using a file to try
and correct the angle but I'm thinking it won't look right, the front of the pylon will be too thin. Well I can hope Inflight duplicates some of the stuff
Aeroclassics 200 has done. That's too bad, Aeroclassics tampo printing is great - now if we can just get their moulds up to speed.

Nice collection of models MD11BEN I had both the AV200 and Inflight Delta L-1011, prefered the Aviation 200 it has more wing detail. The Gemini 200
Delta L-1011-500 is really good-looking but the fuselage circumference is smaller than the other two so somebody is wrong and I think it's Gemini.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to look into the -500 Delta, looking at pictures it looks rather nice but thanks for pointing out the fuselage issue. I think the next Delta Tri-jet should be the Gemini MD-11!

You don't have the Delta MD-11 yet? Given your name I think that's a no brainer I have it and it's a really nice model. I also suggest you pick up one of the Western/Aero Classic Delta DC-8s.

Indeed, I must get one. That DC-8 by Western looks superb, I've got to get one of those! Does anyone have one and if so, is it as good in person as it looks on the internet?

Hi all,

This week I received my Gemini 200 U.S. Air Force E-4B at long last! I also received a very nice Christmas present in the shape of an Inflight 200 Delta Widget 737-200 - Thanks, John! Photos of those coming soon, but I thought I would share one of my favourite items in the collection. It is a large piece from a travel agent in Japan prompting Pan Am's 747SP service from Tokyo to New York. One side is Japanese and the other English. A great eBay find!

Note, I am selling my Gemini 200 Pan Am L-1011-500. If anyone is interested...

Happy New Year!

That's exactly the way to display retro models: Surrounded by airline memorabilia of the era when air-travel still was something special... Very nice! 10 out of 10 from me!

Very well displayed. I like how you've combined the airline marketing memorabilia with the models, and how you've been able to get several models in each shelf without it looking cluttered. Nicely done!

I don't have the depth of your collection, but here are a few pics of some of my retro collection also. Unfortunately I don't display them much.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the comments. I will try and get some more photos. Nice set of models there Charlie Alpha, I do like the original Inflight Pan Am 707's. I have one but I bought it without a box and a scuffed black radome - I just haven't got around to repairing it.

Anyway, here is my latest find of vintage memorabilia - the original United poster, promoting the DC-10 trans continental service.
