Question Capital Airlines Viscount

Who thinks Herpa would lose money with a Capital Viscount? Yes I know it's been released on the Hobby Master mould but Herpa's Viscount is vastly superior. This is an iconic airliner, cornerstone of any historic collection.

The poll selections are IMHO inadequate. What about a TCA [either livery] Viscount. Just becuase I dont want a Captal bird doesnt mean I dont want any historic models.

Then you need to post a TCA Viscount poll. That's something I wouldn't be interested in.

I would really want one, as I flew on them several times.

If i get your meaning, anybody who doesnt want a Capital Viscount should vote for the "No" option on your poll as you are looking for validation this singular release.

But the No, is not just a simple No.
It continues in stating hat you are not interested in anything historical.
No I'm not interested in anything historic or "old"

There are many collectors (myself included) who are interested.
Just not the capital airlines version.

So that option is not applicable either.

You at least get my point, the survey is fundamentally flawed because of the options provided. I will do a proper survey similar to those I created on here in 2015 for the 700 series Viscounts in the next few weeks. Attached are the results for the 717 survey as an example.

I communicated with Herpa a couple of years ago about doing a Capital Viscount. Their initial response was "no" since HM already did it. I reminded them of their superior mold and how toy-like HM's Viscount is. Their response was they'd consider it. If enough people contact them, perhaps it could become a reality.

Well I can't go back and change it now, our edit privileges evaporate quickly around here. But really yes I'm only interested in the Capital Viscount. Herpa already did a bunch of cool liveries, Capital was "the" Viscount airline throughout the '50s and it's sort of outrageous that was the one livery Herpa blew off! These model companies insist on doing it themselves without consulting the people who know.

I did too and I got the same response but then I did some reasoning and the recipient seemed to be listening to me as well (can't remember who it was). The "HM already did it" excuse made little sense since both companies came up with a United Viscount and United doesn't even have the thrill Capital has. I know it would sell out, Capital should be the most popular livery - among Americans anyway.

I totally agree with your logic regarding Capital. It would sell to collectors of retro aircraft, especially with Herpa's superior mold. I bought the HM version and pay no attention to it. The colors are spot on, but that mold is very toy-like. There are terrible inaccuracies on the HM mold as well, including the wing dihedral. It's a pity since some of their other retro props are pretty good.

I agree this poll should have been done differently, BUT a Capital Viscount is exactly what I want, due to its historical significance. So I voted yes.
