Default Jfox 200 United DC-10-10

Got this today. The tulip on the right side on the fuselage is a little messed up.

Nice one and what a great set of 3. What is wrong with the Tulip?

I too want a Saul Bass DC10 but I wait for the large title version.

Thanks for sharing.

The tulip next to the titles on the right side has the blue part extending below the orange part. It's a small misprint.

I think the large titles are nicer. I hope you get it soon.

I'd like a large title version, as long as it isn't N1819U.

There's something special about 3 engines they just look so good.
That livery is so much nicer than the current one too.

I agree. I think the 727 is still the best looking trijet but all of them look pretty good.

My biggest complaint about the -10 series adaptation of this mold is not the incorrect wing length for this -10 series, but the larger -30/40 series main and nosegear tires. The DC10-10 had significantly smaller tires than the -30/40, and these larger tires just do not look right on this model. IF200 should really be using the same tires they use on their L1011 mold for the DC10-10. Would be a better match.

Something about this aircraft is amiss. No, it's not just the crooked tulip. Check out the cheatline. Isn't it a bit too high on the fuselage? The leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer should be firmly in between the orange and the blue. Instead, it rests on the blue cheatline markings indicating either the cheatline is too high or the vertical stabilizer rests too low. I think I might have to give this one a pass and cancel my pre-order. I'll wait for a better United DC-10 somewhere down the road.

Perhaps Raymond or another collector will take some pics of this release and post 'em so we can all have a better look.

I'm with you on this, I would like to see one with larger titles & correct cheat line, maybe the DC-10-30 version with the middle main gear as well in place!!

If you think that was bad, i had this on preorder wanting a saul bass dc-10-10, then i noticed something even worse check out the threshold silver accents just underneath the door on the right side of the aircraft looking from the rear...you will see accurate silver bars underneath the doors...well if you look at the opposite side, the left side they are non existent...the MEXICANA which is being released concurrently will be my last inflight dc-10......Inflight had quality control issues with engines on the CP-AIR polished as well... they used rounded tail pipe engines on 1 and 3 and had the pointy cone tailpipe on number 2 when I know for a fact that the CP-AIR had pointy cone tail pipe on 1,2 and 3, and inflight has both versions of these wing mounted engines. These factories are just churning out models so fast without any attention to details, yet we wait years just to get a perfect model and with gradual price increases. inflight needs to step up their quality control...its been lacking the last couple years. Can't figure out how they didn't notice the silver bar accents during production on the united saul bass. They got the engines right..but if its not one thing its another...that tampo printing was a deal breaker for me. I'll be ok with the American DC-10-30 release i got 2 years ago, glad they didn't screw that one up, its one of the few DC-10-30's they did best along with the KLM DC-10-30...these I have.

I thinkt that this is about right (missing silver bars below doors on left side).
Check out the pictures of the real aircraft!

Why would the manufacturer only put them on one side, can you not board the aircraft from both sides or is it because back then you could only board the aircraft from the starboard side?

photos are from two different time periods, would prefer model represent one time period.

Hmmm....Photo on the right is from 1980 and the one on the left from 1982.
I don't exactly know what you mean, but for me that's really the same time period.
And to me it also looks like the model is quite an accurate depiction of the original.
Or do you have seen somewhere a picture where it shows the underdoor stairways also on the left side of the aircraft?

the reality is that the theshold bars were either painted on both sides or not painted on both sides, yes both versions existed but its not accurate depiction to have one year painted on one side and another year painted on the other side unless they started painting different era's on the same plane..which is not was most collectors would want to see...more profit if the model makers produce different era's on different planes like they do multiple times with multiple releases ...for $$$$$$$.

hi kalibu, if you look at one side the silver threshold bars are under each of the four doors....on the other side they don't exist because they were painted over in earlier years...but again never on the same aircraft at the same time.
