1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

1 Attachment(s)
So thought I would do some usual weekend house work today when I thought my bed would be a good place to showcase my 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand collection in one place/photo.

Certainly looks good doesn't it!

As far as I know, for 1:200 diecast, I am only missing:
- Hobbymaster Air NZ Fokker F-27 (retro)
- Aviation200 Air NZ Boeing 737-200 (Pacific Wave)
- InFlight200 Air NZ Boeing 737-200 - currently ordered
- InFlight200 Air NZ McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (unpolished belly)
- JC Wings Air NZ Boeing 777-300ER (all black) - currently ordered
- JC Wings Air NZ Boeing 767-300ERW (LotR) - currently ordered
- BlueBox Air NZ Boeing 747-400 (Commemorative Last Flight)

Any others you can think of in 1:200 diecast I am missing?

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

Now that is something to be proud of. Only diecast? So that leaves out the Herpa Premium and Pacmin models or did I miss them. I believe a CX B747-400 exists that was on lease to Cathay. Still has kiwi reg.

Judin21 10-23-2016 01:03 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

Yeap just diecast and it does leave out the Herpa and Pacmin models.
I know there is a Herpa ATR-72-600 All Blacks version but I prefer the JC Wings so no need for that one.
Yes I have seen that one but not getting is as it does not have the Air NZ livery.

Kitty Hawk 1903 10-23-2016 01:48 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

In 200 scale,I own 2 ANZ models. I have the Pacmin 200,current livery B777-300ER and the Hogan All Blacks B777-300ER. I really like that one.

There is a diecast 1:200 T.E.A.L Solent Flying Boat. But that might be a bit old school for you, young chappy ;)
Your collection certainly is impressive. I wonder what the combined weight is hehe

Theres the 'Frodo' 747-400, from Herpa / Herpa Premium. I guess JCW will release this in time as well?

There is!?? Will definitly be part of the collection as it is still Air NZ/Teal related.
Where would I find one? Didn't even know a 1:200 diecast existed for this model!

Yes I have seen the Herpa types.
In my opinion though, I can't really justify spending over $300NZD on a bit of metal/plastic. The most I jave spend on a model to date is $265NZD and I do think the most I would ever spend on one model would be $300NZD.

I have messaged JC Wings via Facebook (back when they allowed you to message them direct) and they did say they would be releasing the Air NZ LotR models over time and since then, they have released the 747-400, A320 and now 767-300ERW so no doubt the will complete the last one which I would happily wait for and not spend over $300NZD for haha

Yeah, I would have thought it would be out soon enough, and makes sense since all the others have been made like you say.

ARD (Aviation Retail Direct) in the UK might have some left. They are made by Sky Classics. I got mine without the sea base, wishing now that I have ordered it. Its pricey but worth it.

Haha for the meantime yes.
I am looking at designing my own cabinet/Air New Zealand display for them but that probably won't be done for a wee while yet. Least I know they are safe in their boxes and won't collect too much dust. :p

I had a look and they do have some available. A bit pricy so will leave for the time being. Definitly one to keep bookmarked for future reference though!

Yea, had a look at those also. It is definitely diecast, isn't it? as it looked a little plasticey too me judging by the photo shown. If it is I'll go for one myself as I like to have in my collection the older bygone era ANZ once as well, even if it is a little pricey.

Sweet!
Not sure I would want to pay another 50 just for the sea base.

plane_madnz 10-24-2016 12:52 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

ive made a sea base with some ocean diorama paper off ebay and some N scale model people. It is all diecast, if you get the one with the beaching gear, once pulled off, they leave nasty holes in the model. the sea base one although mopre expensive, will not have these holes. But then I am not sure the model can be pulled out of the sea base.

There is also the NAC Dominie but thats not 1:200, its 1:72. A pretty cool model to have. A few plastic parts on this one, although the main body is metal of some description.

Very nice collection! You have some I've been trying to get my hands on!

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

I've heard back from ARD and as Plane Madnz has already mentioned , they have also confirmed that the Sky Classics TEAL Flying boat is indeed Die cast. Organizing my money transfer and will be placing an order.

plane_madnz 10-26-2016 02:26 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

You wont regret it. It is not as detailed as most brands out there, but then back when these aircraft were flying, they simply didn't have as many instruments and detail on the outer of the aircraft. Just be careful with the Antennae that runs up to the tail. Very fragile.

Ajay1 10-26-2016 02:38 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

Thanks, On your recommendations of it, I have pressed the "add to cart" button, all it needs now is for the plane to start its engines and make the slow trip down under.

Ive swapped buying this for the Fokker F-27 instead which I've just scored from trademe. A hard find but had to have it for the collection.

Was that the Hobbymaster F27 ZK-BXG ? Think that was my very first purchase? ,just checked, yes it was, when I started back in January of this year. What I would like is the get is to get my hands on some in the old NAC liveries 1:200 die cast. They are very hard to find. Maybe one day they will be re visited by the manufacturers and made again ? wishful thinking!!.

What do you like and dislike about the model?

Ajay1 11-02-2016 01:39 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

OK, I no its not as detailed as the more modern airliners but they do have some character and charm about them. I can vaguely remember when I was a wee lad seeing them or similar when they used to fly into Evans Bay in the 1950's. Oh! and off course nowdays at MOTAT when I get up there.

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

Nice one Ajay. Mine took 6 months to arrive haha. I got mine in the first batch. I can see they have made some updates to to model. The lettering style of the "RMA Aranui" is correct on your version. The lettering on my version is not in script, but block lettering. Your beaching gear is also the correct colour, mine was black, I much prefer your gears. The glare strip on yours also seems to be painted differently, but I can't tell by searching google images, if its correct or not. Does yours have the thin fishing gut antennae from the tail to the roof of the aircraft?
I am liking the look of your model alot more than my own haha :)

Ajay1 11-02-2016 03:05 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

No, there is no "wire antennae" line from the tail to the cockpit.

Antony.

Oh, well it wouldn't be hard to add one. In any case, I prefer yours. Congrats :)

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

Very nice Anthony. Filling the gaps with historical pieces like this is what collecting is all about. I have three very much loved flying boats and they are all special one does have antenna wire from the tail to the cockpit mast. Well done on getting this home to where it belongs. I am sure Jean Pierre would agree.

I have since aquired 2 of the models I have been after for my collection.

- Hobbymaster Air NZ Fokker F-27 (retro)
- JC Wings Air NZ Boeing 777-300ER (all black)

Next month I hope to have the BlueBox Air NZ Boeing 747-400 (Commemorative Last Flight) from @TheMadMajor and I will also have the InFlight200 Air NZ Boeing 737-200. :-)

Ajay1 11-27-2016 01:09 AM

Re: 1:200 diecast Air New Zealand model collection

I have only two more Air New Zealand models arriving in the not to distant future,I hope!! the 1:200 JC Wings Air New Zealand Boeing B 767-300 ZK-NCG and the InFlight 200 1:200 Air New Zealand Boeing B747-200 ZK-NZY . That should bring this years purchasing to a close considering I only started collecting in January of this year.

When these two eventually arrive I'll have twenty eight Air New Zealand or New Zealand related aircraft and the balance comprising of aircraft that are used by various airlines to fly into NZ,bringing my total to fifty three.

A huge thanks to TheMadMajor!!
A super pleasure to deal with and even arrived before xmas with all this post rush!
Most expensive model I have purchased to date but is part of something big!

I now only require 2 Air New Zealand models that have been made in the 1:200 diecast category.
- Aviation200 Air New Zealand 737-200 ZK-NAW
- InFlight200 Air New Zealand DC-10 ZK-NZM

I know there will be at least 2 Air New Zealand releases next year so that will be great to add to the collection.

My gift has certainly arrived for xmas so I hope everyone else has too! :D

IF7321016 | InFlight200 1:200 | Boeing 737-200 Air New Zealand ZK-NAR (with stand) | is due: October 2016. Just wondered if anyone has any news regarding the release of this model ? I've had this on pre order with ARD since October and is the last model to arrive from all my last years purchases.

Mine is also still on pre-order in addition to the ANZ 747-200 ZK-NZY Pacific Wave by InFlight.

From what I can remember, InFlight doesn't ship as consistently and the same time frame as Gemini, who typically ships 1 month after they are available for preorder. InFlight can ship many months after the model is available to preorder

I also have both models from the InFlight200 director New Zealand on order and there's no new update on the 737-200 but the 747-200 should arrive soon. Some collectors have already got their ones from him so I guess InFlight200 just ship at random.
