Default JC Wings 1:200 Malaysia Airlines 777-200ER 9M-MRO

This is one of the release that I have been hesitated to buy, the major reason is I never bought or own any model from a tragic incident. To be honest, when this model arrive at my retailer, I was still totally not interested in it until I have give it a go and have a look at what's inside out of curiosity, I have finally decided to snap one immediately.

I understand this model was requested by someone else and JC Wings has only made 80 pieces each of each rego MRO and MRD respectively. Each model included a numbered certificate and a stand to state the event.

Speaking of the model, JC Wings, as usual has made the grey too dark on the belly and engine, same as what happened in their Lufthansa, United as well. Beside that, I am really satisfied with the details.

Finally, RIP to all the lost souls. Peace.

Neat model! What country is the retailer located at and how many they got left?

I got from Hong Kong and as far as I heard from my retailer and JC, all are sold and no more inventories left at the JC warehouse and my retailer as well. My retailer only got 3 sets of MRO and MRD only.

I appreciate your sincerity, Mr Chiang

But now that the pics are here, I must say... its quite... what I hoping for, minus the regos

The color tone is exactly like the GJ 1:400 version. Except the engine, which is the correct one this time, for 200 scale.

If you don't mind Mr Chiang, can you take a closeup pic of the 'malaysia' word?

Thx for sharin with us!

Hi Jetdin,

JCW has already done this model, several years ago under the brand Flightline200 (I think...)

Maybe its still early but, I've just searched a secondary market for these pair... seems like nobody wants the MRD.

Nice looking model. Speaking of models of aircraft that were lost, IF200 did N93119 which was TWA 800.

Despite both rego are infamous due to its tragic incident, MRO is rather iconic to the history of the aviation industry.

Anyhow, both rego are sold out at my retailer and seems many retailer can't get a hold of those.

Agreed & also, the actual cause & wreckage of MRO is still in limbo. So makes the model feels less scarier than MRD.

I'm sure there will be a re-release. Special liveries was always in favor among manufacturers

Regular livery that most people want & can relate to, was always being dodged

HELONICIA 9M-MRD . There is one thing I can assure you. This model has never been made by Inflight yet.

It's a very very early days Flight line early JCW's back then. I am very proud and also sad to have this one in my collection

I am not particularly keen on ordering models of aircrafts that were lost in tragic incidents. However, I bought 9V-SPK (J-Fox, Tropical) as my special Singapore souvenir (I worked there for a few weeks and since became a Singapore-Fanatic).

9M-MRO I ordered in a heartbeat. First: I flew on that aircraft (Brisbane-KL). Second: I have flown so many times on MAS 777-200 ER that I have always wanted a good 1:200 rendition of that plane. Third: I have read every article and peace of paper on that most horrific and creepy incident of M370.

So, I am looking forward getting soon my 9M-MRO from Eztoys. The photos look promising. Only that grey color is, unfortunately, too dark. Needless to say that I already own all MAS 777-200ER in 1:400, including 9V-MRO and 9V-MRD which I bought before they found their tragic end.

Singapore-Fanatic, eh? I also respect their cleanliness. Wished our capital city could cloned some of those

I admire your enthusiasm. Seems like only the red & blue that JC used, is spot on. Now that these models is unreachable, I might have to statue for Inflight's answer to JC

The Inflight model was produced 20 years after the tragedy so, the emotional impact is long gone among us, at least.

Unfortunately for the MAS events, it is still a fresh & on-going complications. How many other plane tragedies that shows too much detail on the gore & aftermath?

I have the 'Freedom of Space' 777, and didn't even realise it was that bird which went missing. Very sad indeed, although I am still happy to have it in my collection personally, I always liked that scheme. My mini-MAS collection: Hibiscus (and ordinary colours) 747s and the special A380 wouldn't be complete without it.
I also didn't realise how much Malaysia Airlines has shrunk oveer the last few years in general, they were a pretty huge carrier (long haul wise) before with a lot of 747s, 777s A330s and other widebodies, now they have only a handful of A380s and A330s and most of their long haul destinations have been canned...pretty sad.
I wouldn't mind seeing Super Ranger 777 released myself.

Seems the limited production cannot be able to allocate to satisfy the demand worldwide.

For those who are interested...I have gotten word from a retailer whom I purchase from in Malaysia that there will be a limited re-release production run of the following:

9M-MRA (180 pcs)
9M-MRD (48 pcs)
9M-MRO (96 pcs)

That info is per his email I received this morning. I just got my preorder in myself, so if anyone else is interested I can pass along the info.

I thought MRA had a pretty cool story attached to it, as it broke the "great circle distance without landing" record supposedly and was the first 777-200ER to fly, which had the MAS colors.

Received my pair of MAS 777s today, looks amazing!! Except JC needs to do better on their QC as I'm missing an antennae from one of the 777. I hope my replacement part comes in soon!

Offtopic but yes, JC Wings should do better QC, so should Gemini Jets, and I think even resellers should do a better job on this issue. It's a rare occurrence that I actually receive a flawless model without any scratches or missing parts, which is sad, keeping the price tag in mind.

@Maxmin, yea usually i don't have an issue with parts missing on models. This is in fact actually one of my first experience with a QC issue and its nothing major thankfully. I agree resellers should do a good inspection before shipping, however with the influx of orders my retailer receives daily he/she probably doesn't have enough time to check all of them.

I think you have done well. I bet if you took a picture outside in natural day light the grey wont be to dark at all. I can already see a bit of a difference with the flash on the grey

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but it would be nice too if JC Wings offered us the Malaysia A330 as well...
