Default Gemini Virgin Atlantic Colour Difference

This might have been brought up before, but the new Gemini A340-600 and 747 have a significant fuselage colour difference to the earlier A340-300 and A330-300. Has the actual colour changed on VA over time, or is Gemini trying to redress earlier inaccuracies?

I would suspect they got the colours closer this time. Most people say the colours are exact representation of the planes. My Phoenix version of the 787 G-VNEW matches the older Virgin Gemini models.

If you really want to be impressed with various colours for their releases, check out an Air Canada collection. Same colour, In At least 4 different shades.

Yes, that's correct. Actually the 787-9, A340-600 and 747 have the same color. THe A340-300 and A330-300 are a bit darker.

You may well be right, I'm not going to ring up engineering to ask. I flew the 343 and 346 and am now on the 789. Our recent (2012 ish + I guess, I just fly 'em) colours are pretty elusive. The grey/white seems to vary more than seems reasonable with sun/viewer angle/range, light quality etc. I've walked round the real things a lot and it seems to me that usually Gemini's 343 is too dark and their 789 too light - but, under some conditions each seems pretty close. I've stopped worrying about it, but it is a bit weird.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

It's been a constant topic of discussion over all the years I've collected diecast. It's fair to say that owing to the micro reflective particles in the actual paint scheme(s) that it does appear to vary in hue and tone depending on ambient lighting conditions. My gut feeling is that Gemini are as close to getting it correct with the most recent releases as they ever have.

I've said before on here that none of them seem quite right to me. Perhaps the closest is the 787. The recent 747 is too silvery, but just my opinion.
