Default Gemini 1/200 BA Concorde.

Hello guys

I've just picked up the new Gemini BA Concede and must say it a beautiful model. It has a couple cool little features such as the snoop dropping and you are able to activate the trust reverses. However these are very delicate and i have made them fall off a couple times. But they do go back one just a bit tricky. There are a couple little things that i wasn't very happy with on my first one. There was a few paint chips on the fin just before the nose, and the tail wheel also had chips on both sides. But on my second one i do not have theses problems. Over all is a really nice model and 'm very pleased with it. However its very much one to be carefully with.

ED

It looks like it has two visors, is the full-up visor removable?

The stand is the normal Gemini one but in a lighter colour of wood. Yes the top visor is removable and stays in place very well.

Nice model and thanks for the pics, particularly because I have mine coming next week.

Looks like a good model with plenty of extra detail. I really like the moveable noise section. I'm getting mine to replace my Hogan model in the same livery.

I think I'm going to try to make some kind of shroud to fit under the removable front cockpit window section that will hide the cockpit window frame on the bottom from showing through with the nose in the 'up' position.

Anyone want to buy a used Hogan BA Concorde?

I just picked up this model today myself - such an iconic aircraft. Too bad they no longer fly in service

Thanks for posting these pics. I hadn't had a chance to put up some photos of this model. It's a keeper for sure. How do you snap the visor into place? Mine just rests on top and it falls off if I move it.

I think everyone is going to sell theirs. If GJ does a Landor version, they'll blow off the shelves and the Hogan version will sell for dirt on fleaBay.

Interesting to see you have revised your thread to any one want a Hogan G-BOAC to anyone want to buy a Hogan Concorde. Hogan Concorde's are now finished with any commercial value $50.00 dollars at best. Good luck with that sale

Recieved my Concorde this week... Gemini have done a great job I love the detail and that you can display the model in various nose up / nose down configuration...

Been on -BOAC several times on display at MAN... now very happy to have a -BOAC model in my collection...

As for my old Hogan -BOAE I've now past that on to my father in law who always admires my models... considered selling the Hogan but thought he would enjoy it better...

Some advice please - I will be displaying this model permanently in a "nose-up" configuration. Is there any way the vizor can be fitted so that a flush connection occurs in front of and above the cockpit please?

I will be ensuring that the lowered vizor cannot be seen in this form.

Many thanks,

Awesome detailing, thanks for the pictures. I'm looking forward to my Air France example landing. That and the classic BA Landor will be enough for me in this mold.

The Hogan birds still look great in my opinion and not having the separate dropable nose and associated lines makes them a decent alternative IMO. I've got a Hogan model representing each livery period from AF and BA. I think I'll display them all side by side on stands with the 2 x Geminis in front on wheels and in nose down config.

The best fit I was able to get is as you see it in the photos. Unfortunately there inst away that you could make the nose move and get a gap free join between the two. The only real way to get a flush join between the two would be to fill the gap in and re paint it. But in my opinion its not worth doing that. You could every easily hid the lower visor with some thin plastic card. Or the other option would be to paint over it , but i wouldn't recorded that.

$50 is about what I paid for it. And the 'offer' was more to make a point rather that offer a sale. Maybe you picked up on that?

Just didn't want anyone to think I was offering a 'freebbee'. Amazing the PMs you get when you ask if anyone 'wants a model'. Not that I would mind that much. I just don't want to pay shipping!!

I'll probably end up donating it to a local charity.

There is something I don't understand.
Are there two visors ?
One for nose 0°, visor up.
Another one for the other configurations .

See document.

Yes the top visor comes off. Sorry I forgot to remove it when taking the first lot of photos.

I.m holding off till I handle one. Still not convinced.
Different to the Hogan but better? some details yes but that nose and visor still look too unrealistic.
A lot of us have Hogan Concordes and I don't think will be selling anytime soon, also don't buy models as an investment. which makes actual value irrelevent.

and if the nose droops why not the flaps as well......for landing config.

I don't want to offend you …

There is no flaps on delta aircraft, just elevons, and they are not down for the landing, they work as elevators.

Had a closer look at my Concorde over the weekend and it seems as tho the nose section can be pushed in so it is more flush to the fuselage...

I kind of get the impression that you pull the nose forward slightly (probably only a millimetre or two) to adjust position, and then push back in to be more flush once happy with position... don't know if anyone else has found the same but since finding that I think it looks a lot better without much of a gap at all between nose and fuselage section.

i'm guessing that it's the revised jcw mould (shortened nose antenna). hence, the mechanism should be similar so yes, there should be some pushing in to snap the shield flush against the canopy.

Wink Re: Gemini 1/200 BA Concorde.

I have to admit, this is an interesting twist on Concorde at 1:200. After looking at these lovely photos, I can't help but thinking how much more of a successful model this could have been at a larger scale. What comes to mind is the 'dead' and 'highly unpopular' 1/144 scale in diecast.

Anyhow, I'll probably be the last collector here to keep his 'worthless' Hogan versions. (There may be one other)
