Posts by the same person? Using several different member names??

Some information provided in the interest of leveling the playing field. For information, you may want to go here and read the last couple of posts. The information is relevant, but ultimately not make a real difference.

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...iscussion.html

Here's a recap.

"Ok, lets end this scam and these endless discussions for good. The engine is no longer the interesting thing, at least to me. Where the images came from now is more interesting

Here is a link Tonka's Photobucket. If you want a look, you will clearly see the diagram I was asking about showing a 164" across the top of the fan cowl is there. 164"=13.6666', almost EXACTLY the 13.7' I have quoted from the start, and was berated for endlessly. Don't worry if it disappears (they did for me already). I'll post the chart as an attachment at the bottom.

Here's the link to the .

ScreenHunter_04 May. 16 14.44_zpseagpmrn9.jpg Photo by stivaskam | Photobucket

The really interesting thing is the picture in Tonka's post (shown directly below and originally in his 2nd post above) didn't come from Tonka's Photobucket, it came from Marcus', although you will find the exact same diagram in Tonka's bucket also (right click on the original pic and see the page source info.). There has been a rumor in Hong Kong for quite some that Marcus was posting under one or several different names on this forum including 'Tonka', although I don't have direct knowledge of whether this is true or not. This connection has been mentioned before by some very esteemed members of this forum. But there does seem to be some measure of collaboration between the 2 names in any case even if they are, in fact, 2 different people. There are also supposed to be other members here with 'special arrangement' that support JCW models and disparage others as a matter of course. I guess for 'advertising'?

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...psfo9sfhqs.jpg

So here's the full diagram below. Although there is another placard on top of it, you can see the measurement of 164" across the top (if it comes out big enough to read). If not, it is page 4-2-1 of the Ground Handling Manual. The fan disk, which I was supposed to be confusing with the cowl diameter doesn't have a dimension. So the chart was, in fact, relevant and available.

Just though you guys deserved to know, not that it really matters. It was more about the engine shape than size for me anyway. Doesn't seem to really matter any more now anyway. All this for a model airplane. Geez.

re: Posts by the same person? Using several different member names??

even if they are the same persons why is it so important for you? JC Wings produces beautiful models and I apperciate any useful information from the producers at first hand on this forum. Not many producers do this and listen carefully to the collector's opinions.

Charlie Alpha 05-17-2016 12:55 PM

re: Posts by the same person? Using several different member names??

While I agree JCW makes beautiful models and I hope Marcus continues to post preview pics of the forum. I think they are great previews and probably really help JCW's sales. That was probably the whole purpose anyway.

But it is still important because because it offends a basic sense of honesty. I think it is important for members to know who is posting so they can make up their own minds. Instead of just a member, it now looks like the posts may have written by an employee of JCW with a copy of Cathay Pacific's maintenance manual, a false persona, and a definite bias. The purpose may have been to increase sales for JCW through manipulation instead of just letting the products speak for themselves and leaving people free to make up their own minds.

I don't know.. Let's spend all of our spare time thinking about this and trying to unravel this mystery. Then again let's not because 1. It's boring 2. This is a model aircraft forum about MODELS. 3. This is only of interest to you and of little interest to anyone else!

You could be right, but as far as I know this is a new post. Let's see what happens with the responses. By the number of views, looks like that is not the case and some people ARE finding it interesting.

Charlie Alpha,

I don't have an opinion about Inflight vs JC per se. I am a proud "panic buyer"(TM) when it comes to models fitting my criteria. All the models I have, I consider great models. Even though they might not be a 100% scaled down version of the real thing. My tiny brain can identify a B707 from a B727. Sacriledge, I know. But to each his own.

Back to this topic. I don't know photobucket.
But is it not possible that one user might 'link' to a publicly available photo album?
Also, could it not be possible that someone 'copies' a photo from another user and then add it to their own photo-bucket? Thus two differrent users might have the same photo? Especially if they are friends and share such stuff with each other?

Also, don't think that a lot of views means that people are interested. I know of a lot of people who have publicly stated that they only visit DAC to stir the pot and to view 'combustible' threads. Which this one and any other 777 thread seems to devolve into.

What I do find to be annoying is that people start these flame wars on threads where users posts their newly aquired models. Which they wanted to share with fellow collectors. Only to have it pointed out to them how utterly crap 'this' or 'that' aspect of their model is. Why do collectors like pissing on the parade of another collector. It is bad form.
This is one reason why I will not post any pictures of any of my collection on DAC.

I visit to see if something interesting pops up. There are some interesting threads, but saldy, mostly the threads on DAC seem to be a waste of time to read.

You must also understand that when people are set in their ways that it is extremely difficult and very unlikely that they will shift in opinion. Bias.

I am afraid that you are fighting a losing battle and the sad part is that even if your information is 100% correct and factual, the whole debate has been done to death and people will classify you with the others. It is just human nature.

I love collecting my model toys of aircraft which have meaning for me in one way or another.

Keep collecting. And "buy what you want, and like what you buy"

Cheers.

Very well said. I buy models for my own personal enjoyment. If you don't like a model then don't buy it.

There are more important things in life to worry about other than if two user names are the same person. If this is all your concerned about then my friend your blessed with a much easier life than most. Just enjoy the models you buy and not worry about something that really does not matter.

I think you are exactly right and I couldn't have said it better myself. Even the 'T' word is fine with me!!!

All of this back and forth, constant attack and fighting has been draining for everyone, myself included. I think it is time for us, or particularly me, to get back the joy of showing and enjoying models. And as you said, enjoying the models that we do buy. My feelings got really hurt when I posted pictures of my first Inflight KLM 777-300ERs, only to have the model shredded, and when someone suggested that I must have lost my mind to like them I got mad instead of blowing it off. Unfortunately my response resulted in going on a 6 month war path. Not good for anyone, particularly me. Just realized that recently.

And fortunately I was able to retire early with plenty of free time and am blessed with a very easy life right now. I'm not really worried about the 'name thing', just thought it was interesting is all.

You may want to try [email protected]. That should go (or at least used to go) directly to Marcus.H e has been the one to provide spare parts in the past.

Hopefully that is a different email than you have already.

Brilliant and Well said! This site does get too critical. I also wouldn't know if a model is 100% correct, but if it looks to me like the plane it's meant to be and I like it then i'll buy it from whoevers version i think is best. Simple as that!

so if tonka is marcuse and jcw, is charlie alpha representing Jfox and inflight?

if you doubt on someone and make it public, isn't it fair that we all doubt you as well?

you have your choice to buy whichever your favourite model. there are no 100 percents accurate model in whichever brand. if the error is so difficult to accept. please refrain from buying and wait for a better release.

re: Posts by the same person? Using several different member names??

And so the plot thickens. A blatant attempt by supporters of the actors to turn the proceedings into jokes and quite all discention. The '1 star' rating is a dead giveaway, as I mentioned above. That is the nice thing about being multiple people on this forum: You get to rate a thread multiple times. I think we can maybe answer the original question in this post with a 'YES'?

But the bottom line is THE ORIGINAL DECEPTION, IF IT OCCURRED, IS NOT HONEST AND THE BUSINESS PRACTICE WAS NOT ETHICAL. It may not matter that much to you, but it still speaks VOLUMES about person's integrity and character. We are all real live people (or at least most of us), why not just be honest and let the membership make up their own minds instead pretending to be someone you are not. The argument would have been much more compelling as Marcus. And probably not against forum rules either.

But then again, who cares, right guys?

I know this thread is (intentionally by some) degenerating into more nonsense, but there is a serious side to all of this too.

Do you all remember the excellent monthly ARD photo spreads that most of us liked so much? If you are a new member you may not know what I'm talking about, but a previously active member would make a monthly visit to ARD and photograph many (most?)of the models of all brands and post the pics of them on this forum as a service to members so they know what ALL brands looked like before they bought them. This kind of ridicule, and primarily derogatory posts by the subject of this post caused him to decide it wasn't worth the efforts anymore, and we lost some great information and pictures. It was a great loss to this forum, and many members were upset at the time. He was accused of being a representative for Inflight too, as well as being ridiculed and insulted by the subject of this post. Sound familiar to anyone who remembers?

I've often wondered if this is where the whole Inflight vs. JCW started, because one of the owners of ARD was also a partial owner of Inflight, and this was right around the time Tonka started posting. Maybe that was an attempt to 'level the playing field'. I have my own ideas about this which will keep private for the moment. Just curious is all. In any case, I don't loose any sleep thinking about it.

nobody said jc makes the perfect model everyone would buy. the option is always ours.

if you really wants to criticise on the accuracies, i suppose there are always ways to find faults.

for me, any maker fulfil most of my criteria, i would buy it. please remember that we all have different criteria in mind.

if you really think it is not up to your standard you have the option not to buy. no point buying and spend your time hating it. you can always wait for it to get better.....

maybe in the near future you can print it on your printer.

I'm in regular email contact with Rui. I don't think there will be anymore of his ARD reports anytime soon. I was always grateful that he would also include pics of the large scale 1/100 and upwards display models, as well as the smaller 1/200 ones. He's tells me that he's completed the sale of most of his 1/200 models, except for some favourite ones.

There is no doubt that the forum is all the poorer for his absence.

There is no doubt that the forum is all the poorer for his absence.

Neil.

It was indeed a loss for all of us whether we realize it or not. As you said, all scales, but all brands as well. I really do miss his posts.

True. The forum didn't use to be a place of fake posts or fighting over best manufacturers or models. Rui left for many reasons and we miss his posts where we could see models from ARD and many other professional pics he used to post.
I got some models from him and is a really cool cat. He now collects larger scale models and hope to see him back some day.

Well this is a rather stupid and pointless little post, as usual. This would be the other reason many people are reluctant to post. Members with nothing better or more creative to do than follow other members from post to post making lame and irrelevant little comments like this.

Better not to make this kind of comment at all. But if the need to troll is too strong, remember one thing. For this kind of thing to work, it has to be cute or clever or both. ;)

I thought it quite clever and in the final analysis that is what counts.
Good luck chasing you next Diecast conspiracy.

Sorry, you probably would think that, but not that cute and not that clever.......again. The first time may have been mildly amusing, but by the 3rd or 4th time it was getting a little weird. After the 9th of 10th time and this level of interest, I got to tell you buddy, I already have someone, and I'm not the least bit interested. (now THAT was funny!!) Seriously, this is the exact kind of thing that makes members reluctant to post anything, or just to leave the forum all together. I think most people call it 'bullying' but I bet you just call it normal behavior.

I was just wondering? What would motivate a member to follow another member's post, one after the other, post after post and try (unsuccessfully) to make everything a nasty comment or a joke? I'm not the only one noticing this either. No life? Low self esteem? Nothing better to say? Just plain 'meanness'? Not that I really care. Your posts never have much of anything that I care to read anyway.

You really made me laugh, that's all you can do?
I think I have more technical background but no photographic experience if compare with Marcus.
I already said that there is no conspiracy here. For the same reason, NONE of my image posted here disappear since the day one.
Mr.Sherlock Holmes, I never edit the post you questioned about, to find out what behind this big mistery, clear your browser's cache and history then check all again!
Anyway, I post the link of my images here for you again:

Sorry to answer this question, 164 is the diameter of fan module not the nacelle diameter you quoted from the start, that's why you got the wrong size of the engine.

Actually not. This is the chart I was talking about. Conveniently gone from Photobucket. (if anyone is interested, click above for the larger version)
Welcome back in any case. Guess it took a couple of days to figure how best to respond? Y'all know this doesn't really mean anything, don't ya?

The exact same thing happened just before, when Retro guy left. Why should I have expected anything different this time. I don't really care about dimensions any more. Never really did in the first place. For me it was mainly about shape, not size, but all of this did successfully divert the discussion to the whole size thing. Anyway, all this nonsense has gone way beyond that and I think this was maybe the last spark of any interest at all. At least for me. Ultimately, it makes little difference to my life, and probably for others here too.

Time we all just got to enjoying our models again. And trying to be a little nicer to each other too.

Are the dimensions with or without the fan containment ring noting that you're both clearly fixated by size.
However, neither of you have yet to answer my question about whether the IF or JC fan blades are correct in relation to their chord at the outer most point (nearest to the containment ring).

Still trying to determine whether I or me the same person?

What were you smoking when you thought up this thread?
