like the N7202U but that's it.... AC sure is pumping out those 720s, whatever happened to the DC-8 mould? http://www.pic4ever.com/images/2mo5pow.gif

yes! a -61 would be most welcome.

and for more variation give us a 727 - way too many liveries for two manufacturers (who do not use their moulds).

I hate to say it, but the nose on this mold is a little too long. It reminds me of the 'stretch' Inflight 707 nose that so many complained about. Maybe it is just the pics. I don't remember my Pan American 720 having such a pointed nose.

The 707 had a pretty blunt nose that tapered down pretty quickly. You can see the same basic shape on today's 737s. I think the nose shape has always been the weak point of most 707 and 737 molds. Oddly enough, the Gemini 727 nose is consistently pretty good.

I told you the answer but you don't believe, every model in diecast has the chance to be altered by polishing, especially the nose section, I also told you this happened on Inflight's 707 and 737, this is no exception for all manufacturers.

well SMA did announce 3 models a few weeks ago. ALASKA, HOUSE, VIKING? so the others are probably AC.

You CAN see 'sanding variations' in the models above. For example the 2 United 720 above have slightly different nose shapes. One is a little more pointed (one without the rain cap) than the other. The variation really doesn't matter to most people because both models closely resemble each other. THAT is a sanding variation, not the gross difference in basic nose shapes seen here.

It is really scary QC wise if this is a 'sanding variation'. You would never really know what your model would look like if you didn't buy it in person.

Thanks for the schematic 707 nose diagram. Although a schematic, it shows exactly what I've been talking about on the 720 nose. It should be shorter and more blunt looking, but this model still gives a fair impression of a 707/720 nose. I just don't think we have seen the 'perfect' 707-720 nose yet in 1/200 diecast. I hope we do someday.

Yep, that's what I was going to add...nose shape is wrong.

Good to hear that you start to believe "sanding variations", you got the answer and don't have to update your question again since the thread is locked(again). All manufacturers have the same issue, just the matter of major or minor. Yes, you have to check each of them in person if you worry about this.

Re: 6 NEW AEROCLASSIC 200 B720s

Then these examples were sanded??? by the same person as they all look too pointed and sharp. The nose profiles of these are wrong, plain and simple.
I think the mould is in error actually!
BTW, is it too late to add that the nose gear is too far rearward based on the blueprint that was posted?!

On this model, yes. The differences are petty subtle, and the variations slight. But definitely the same mold.

But not so much on others, particularly the one in question. The differences are just too much to be explained away by 'sanding'. The 'sanding issue' seems to be a predominantly JCW issue at the moment. I don't see the same kinds of gross variations in other brand's models.

I think it is a mold issue also. Consistently pointy noses= inaccurate mold. The nose should definitely be blunter and more rounded.

But there are some slight variations in the nose too due to 'finishing' or sanding also. This is a good example of the slight variations between models that ARE due to differences in sanding.

The N7202U is very nice with the thin golden line. I didn't know about this livery.

It looks like both of the United versions have disappeared from the ARD website. None of my other usual retailers have them listed. Was ARD a bit premature on these?

In 1967, I flew several times on United 720s with the gold trim livery. I will have to get one to add to my memory collection.
