Default Best stand for Hogan 1:200 please?

Hi!

In your opinion, what would be the best display stand for Hogan 1:200 models and where can I buy it?

I'm looking for the nicest one I can get for A346 and Concorde.

Thank you very much!!!

Yes but the question is: from all you can find anywhere, which one is the best in your opinion? The best quality one, the best looking, the nicest, in your opinion?
Thank you very much!

Normally, there should be one supplied. They are pretty much similar except for the printing on them. There is a transparent plexi stand which is rather pretty. I might have one or two left which I could sell. Let me know if you are interested.

Hogan recently made their stands available for separate purchase, so I recently bought a large wood and metal stand from a good EBay seller - pics attached.

Personally, I much prefer the wooden stand to the standard plastic one. The wooden stand is available in large and small. The large would be the better one for your A346. There are some other types too as you can see from the picture of the back of the box.

The concorde is a different proposition. I don't have one so I don't know if it has the same shaped stand hole, but from memory comes with a special perspex stand.

Another alternative: buy the corporate Hogan models which come with wooden stands and re-use them for display. I do this a lot with the stands that came with my Boeing House Colours models.

Hope this helps!

Hogan, if you are listening, your models would be more attractive if you included a wooden stand with every model (plus other things but I won't go into that here)!!

Not all, I think there were some Lufthansa birds that didn't come with gears. I could be wrong, but I remember pulling a few out at AV World a few years back and was puzzled there was no gear? T7

I think you're right T7, although I don't have any - just going off what I've seen. I suspect it has something to do with Lufthansa's preferences. Can anyone confirm this?

I have seen the release of the Hogan stands myself, and was wondering about picking one up. They do look better then the plastic and are available on a couple websites. I never liked the hogan stands as it it angled on the top and makes the planes appear to be In a turn. I think the Concorde would look better then the plastic as well but to whether it will fit on one of these is up for debate. I'll keep an eye out.

Oh my, I didn't know Hogan has done those wooden stands. I was about to say the acrylic stands Hogan used for the 1st version of Air France Concordes was the best, but after reading this great new, I must say you must get this wooden stand.

Here a sample of the acrylic stand, picture credits goes to Dai Kong.

Thanks for the info Terence!!!

I can confirm, Hogan/Limox (Lufthansa) models do not include landing gear. You have to buy them separately.

Awesome. Yogurtlite! I knew I wasn't going crazy with those specific Hogan models at AV World at that time. Thank you for the confirmation. Much appreciated. Cheers! T7

But I love LH and their A340-600s. Purchased one which included the gear set that was sold separately. The separate gear set came with white doors. Been reading some tips and tricks on how to fit landing gears to Lufthansa Hogan/Limox models here in the forum and did the "paperclip" procedure. Thank God the holes in the gear plugs are wider but it was still a challenge to take out the nose gear plugs. Ended up denting the plugs, which I sanded off and painted; and a bit on the edges of the hole to which I later flattened using my fingernails. The next challenge was finding the nearest paint color that will match the gray belly/waterline of the Lufthansa livery. Ended up having a gray that was a bit darker. Despite the lack of details, stencils, antenna, and the hassle of taking out the gear plugs, it is still a model that made me happy. Here are some pics:

Yup, for reasons unbeknownst, Lufthansa seems to order the snap fit models with minimum details and w/o gear it seems. Maybe in order to justify the Herpa price premium.

On Hogan stands, I like their angle if you display several in a row. As soon as you mix them with other brands on non-angled stands, it looks strange.

The wood stand looks interesting. Out of my experience with older Gemini 757s, I would generally be very careful with tripod stands.

Cheers Yogurtlite! That Concorde stand is the same as the one that came with my Hogan 1:200 Lockheed Constellation. I think there is another variant as simon65 posted pics a while back of a newer Concorde stand that puts it in a takeoff / landing attitude:

Anxiously waiting for an answer to whether the wooden stands, Large or small will fit the latest released Concordes. really prefer the wooden stands and since all my models have wooden stands the concorde looks odd without

You are right. The Lufthansa models do not come with the landing gears. You will need to buy them separately. I have 5 Lufthansa models which are all Hogan/Limox and they don't come with landing gear, only a stand. On three of them I painted my own gears for them.

I did the same with my LH A330-300 and A340-600. The Hogan models are GREAT models. Probably have better shape than their diecast equivalents. I just wish Hogan would also offer a line of detailed models with more printed details and antennas.

Yes! I agree with you. Somehow they make their molds spot on, just with the antennas an stuff taken away. I hope they will release some with antennas and more printed details like you has stated. They have antennas on their MD-11, so why not on the others?

I have over 10 Hogan models, and all of them are better than the metal ones, if you take the details away.

I have (all are 200 scale, and all are Lufthansa, and all are Hogan/Limox) :

1-747-8i "Fanhansa"
2-747-8i "Retro"
3-747-400 (Discontinued in 2010 or something like that but picked one up in Taiwan for a steal!)
4-A340-300
5-LH Cargo MD-11F

I put landing gear on them all except for the 747-8s. If you want to paint the landing gear a Lufthansa Gray, use USAir Gray by XtraColour. I used that colour on my Lufthansa gears.

BTW, the gears I bought were $7 each!

Yes, it should work just fine for the older Herpa models that were produced using Hogan moulds.

Adding wood stands to standard Hogan models would drive the price up further.

I will agree with, Moin on that post.

Definitely add in another $5 to $10 for the model with wood stands. Or maybe higher? Cheers! T7

The Gemini200 wooden stands are $12 each for the widebody planes. The narrowbody plane stands by Gemini200 are $8 each. Why are they so expensive? They are just wood and metal.

This is true. I would rather pay extra for more printed detail and antennae on the model before having a wooden stand included. Or release some with plastic stand, some with wood, as they already seem to do.

One more thing I realise is different between Hogans and diecast metal; often big parts of the wings or fuselage are unpainted / clearcoated bare plastic rather than being completely painted. The difference is subtle, but fully painted would look more realistic.

Hope Hogan is listening to all of us.
