Thumbs up Expected 2016.. Herpa 1/200 B-1 Lancer!!1

Fantastic!
I know it's military but I had to share this with you guys over here.

Finally the B-1 Lancer will appear in the 1/200 scale.
Another great subject chosen by Herpa and perhaps (I hope) the TU-160 will follow as they have proven they can make Russians too.
As far as I can see the sample looks very good and has moveable wings.

The photo was taken at the 2016 Toy fair held in Nuremberg.
Photo from Vosen.de.

Thanks Herpa!

Whats going on with that cockpit though???!!!

Should be more like:

Think I'll pass and hope eventually HM, CW or even JCW do one...I'd also like to see it in 1:72!

It's a sample so I think the cockpit is not ready yet or not how it will be on the final product.

Keep faith Andy.

I would like to be hopeful the cockpit area is improved on the final production model. Unfortunately there remain a doubt after remembering their effort on the B-52 and B-2 cockpit areas. Why can't Herpa paint the windows like every other 1/200 diecast plane manufacturer?

I don't think we will see this model from any other manufacturer besides Herpa. I'm not to worried about the cockpit Windows as they seem to have a tight fit. They just need to get color of the painted parts right to match those on the fuselage.

I agree with Eagle flyer about the windows. The C-130 looks fine with painted windows. That is why I didn't get their B-2 model.

From the photo, I can see is a laser sample only, not even by metal, so don't worry about the windows.

O my lord a sample photo of what could be an exciting new release is posted and before you can say Herpa, the nitpickers are out in force making life time choices on whether they will buy it or not.

If Herpa doesn't totally screw up the cockpit windows, I'm all in for this release. Even if the cockpit windows aren't perfect, I'm probably still in.

Strange on a scale of 1/200 they have boarding ladder...
Bomb doors too, then?

It's merely an early stage prototype. Herpa certainly has captured the shapes very nicely.

Agreed. This would also look super at a larger scale like 1:72. CW would be my choice.

If that is the final cockpit then

But if they change the cockpit in a good way, I will surely buy several releases ! So, it's up to you Herpa ...

Such an iconic coldwar plane.
I remember the Rockwell project was really expensive, and they cancelled it at one point of time, only to be revived later by reagan i believe.

Would be nice, but as the SR-71 is already huge, it would be enormous.

Fair enough if they are to paint a top coat on the cockpit area and have transparent windows, that would be fine.
As for a massive 1:72 version, a lot of it would have to be plastic, like the Corgi Vulcan, but it would be amazeballs!

Sheeesh, you guys seriously think that's how a manufacturer would leave the cockpit windows? lol

The model pictures is a unpainted sample. I'm pretty sure the final model will have the plastic part painted and transparent windows.

Come on guys its a sample of the mold, all the parts are unpainted, look at any HM mold sample and it will look exactly the same. Everyone stop worrying, the whole mode is unpainted. On any model with clear canopies, its the norm for the clear peice to make up a good portion of the frame around the windows as well, which later gets painted over, just look at the HM E-2 mold samples.

Sure. But some collectors like H-U-G-E and seem to have the display space. Nobody really thought Corgi would do the Vulcan in 1:72 either.

Same here. That just looked goofy. I guess Herpa is about to make the same mistake again with this Lancer.

They are clearly mad. They should bin the clear plastic canopy, but it seems too late!! as production tooling has been made.
Even if its part painted to match the fuselage, the joint where it fits into the diecast fuselage will make it look terrible.
It's been tried before, the Guilver Hawkeye, and its common on those 1:144 Bigbird warplane models.
