Default jcw concorde antenna...

should jcw:

1. keep the nose antenna as it is like it's ready for mid-air refuelling;
2. find a way to thin the antenna without the risk of infecting their collectors with tetanus; or
3. get rid of the antenna altogether as it doesn't add to the aesthetics of the model?

Image of the actual plane and the tip that is being referred to

it does seem bit longer on model , my two cents

here's and interesting sculpture of that nose. you can see just how fine the antenna was.

i suggest you saw it off and file to size.

alternatively you can buy a packet of sewing needle to replace the antenna.

for me, i am not doing anything. but i am glad they made it longer for us to cut to size.

You're talking about the pitot tube while the topic starter is talking about the antenna on top I think..

Those you guys are referring to is the nose pitot tube, not the antenna which is located above the fuselage on the forward side.

In fact, those pitot tubes on the first models that come with it do look a bit oversized, making it not proportional. Need to see the next series batch.

Option 5- Don't really care one way or the other. That's my choice.

The piece is too small to cut and file to shape, and it doesn't look terrible the way it is..

The pitot tube is grossly oversized, looks more like 1/72 scale. Much like the antler antennas on DC3's, it is better in my opinion to just leave it off.

If they can't change it I'd rather not have it on there. It looks comical.

for those who wants it, they can keep it. for those who don't wants it. just cut it away.

so cool. but i rather keep it. there are not many singapore airlines to be release in near future.

so, just in case someone wants it , i could sell away and leave it to them whether to keep that "thing".

I'm ready to accept this model with this VHF antenna and this Pitot tube.

But I would suggest to make the Pitot tube detachable, not glued, that way those who prefer to make their own one will have the possibility to replace it.

Simple. can you se the pitot on a typical photograph?
I would say no.
The model like hogan looks better without it.

I'm exercising Option 5 as well. I'm very happy with the my Hogan Concordes and won't be pursuing the JCW variants.

agreed. it was only after seeing jcw's model that i began to pay more attention to the actual bird... and only then realised that hey, it does indeed have a pitot

Yeah my JFOX one also looked good even without a pitot tube and broader antenna.

It's a good point but it depends on how far the photo is taken.

To some extent, we could have the same debate about the B 707 HF antenna which is at the top of the fin or the B 747-100, -200 or -300 HF antennae at the wing tip.

Would you accept a B 707 model without this antenna ?

I think this Pitot tube is part of the Concorde, its section is not constant, I attach a picture showing this.
In my opinion, it should be there as a separate part to avoid any damage during handling and shipping.

I already have the Hogan and Historic versions, without the Pitot tube (see picture), this time, for more realism, the Pitot tube would be a nice addition.

JC Wings, please, dare to be different.

I attach another picture, showing de icing operations on a Concorde just before its departure, after this treatment, this aircraft is protected for about 30 minutes, the Pitot tube is clearly visible, again, I agree, it depends on how far the photo is taken.

It was just my opinion.

Jean Pierre.

Not sure. We get HF antenna on 1/400 707s albeit oversized.
2 xpics taken from pink elephant Heathrow.

Well done if want it removed, your options are to purchase a Hogan or an Inflight/Jfox. Advances on this mould are for those that appreciate improvements. Not regression backwards

strangely getting jcw to improve the pitot seems to be getting the least votes
