Default Singapore airlines models

Just got a newsletter from a prominent US retailer informing that Singapore is trying to shut sales of their models through any source other than sales on their own online shop.

What is the story behind the story?

I don't understand why if the models are licensed.

If this is true, they won't be licensed for long!

Kind of throws a monkey wrench in JCW's plans for the flaps up and down A350.

Same thinking.

Just started a little SIA collecting, which I'm gonna fly on soon. Bootleggers like PHX and JC won't be on my hunt list. Scared of lawsuit lol

Got that email as well. Also, the retailer I believe you are refering too (and I assume because of the email reference— which by the way, its a very good one) is pricing those Singapore models cheap, very very cheap, to get rid of them because it will take them out of their website.

I was able to get the J-Fox 744 Tropical for 99 dollars, shipping included. The JCW was already sold out (both registrations) and the A380's China's Flag were already sold out.

if this is true. it is not about what is correctly painted or moulded. it is about did you manage to find a model at all.

Literally, this.

Just got the B744 Tropical by IF/JFox this morning because I wanted the model since it was released, and now the price was imposible to resist.

I checked again a few moments ago and now everything is soldout in this particular retailer.

IMO that retailer might have just got cold feet. I do remember SQ going after GJ and Risesoon over SQ models, but with the amount of SQ models being churned out by the various manufacturers I doubt we will see a stop to SQ models in the future. Congrats to everyone who got cheap SQ models though!

I only have the JFOX BA/SQ Concorde in 1:200 scale, while the rest of them are in 1:400 (PHX), including the tropical.

But at my local hobby store I saw the tropical (9V-SPL) in 1:200, but not sure what make.

I disagree. Do you really think a bunch of collectors discussing models is going to tell Singapore Airlines something that they don't already know.

What I think we should do instead is have anyone who has verified information let the rest of us know so we are not wasting money on pre-orders that will never be filled.

Exactly! I don't think any of JC Wings releases are actually licensed, so they'll be unaffected.

First of all I would suspect that there is networking taking place between agencies that protect the licensor from unauthorized usage of trademarks. JC Wings / Jonathan Chan was named as a manufacturer of unlicensed product protected by trademarks by Disney and now might be prohibited from releasing Singapore Airlines. It does not take long for that kind of information to spread within the corporate environment. Due to rampant corruption in China, and the availability of brokers who have deals with China customs, taking action in China is doubtful. Corporations simply go after the retail sales channels and effectively blocking the product from getting to market, which works just as well. I think Herpa and Gemini Jets would do well by taking notice of this as all their product comes from the same factory.

The SQ A380 does not have any Chinese flag on it, it's supposed to be our SG50 anniversary special livery.

This is a 1:400 one by Phoenix, below is the 1:1.

Don't really like the models they sell at krishop as they're not detailed. But of course cheaper as they're plastic.
