Question will we see an Il-96 by PHX one day???

they have done a very nice 1/400 mould, so how long do we have to wait for a 1/200 version....?

I do hope so . The CAM / Historical Model made one about 10 years ago , It was heavy expensive and awfull . Apparenly 1/500 and 1/400 are handsome . Wait and see .

There is a company in Russia that does resin 1:144 Il-96s. They are excellent quality, and while I dont have an Il-96 from them, I do have their 1:144 Il-86.

Highly unlikely. The Phoenix/Eagle 1:200 models are (at this point) barely registering on the so-called 'radar' of 1:200 diecast.

Actually, these are not Zvezda kits. They are a company out of Samara that builds resin display models. Most of their product line is Soviet/Russian aircraft. I picked up a few when I was in Moscow last month for the MAKS airshow.

They will do custom models, however, they do not ship outside of Russia, so you have to pick them up in person. the Il-86 was a custom model, in the markings and colors of the prototype. I also had models of the prototype Il-62 and Tu-154 made, and those two are 1:100 scale.

They come boxed like this:

Shipping them back to the US is extremely expensive via FedEx, DHL, or UPS, so we packaged them up by stuffing bubble wrap all around the models and filling the empty space with with, then placing the boxes into a larger box. We had three models per larger box, and all of mine made it back to Seattle with no damage. My friend picked up a 1:72 Beriev Be-200, and it broke in two locations, but it is repairable. His five other models made it back with no issues.

We are actually seriously considering talking with the company, and if there is enough interest, possibly importing these models into the US for them. They are really high quality models!

Thanks! I am always looking to add to my collection of Soviet types, as well as Aeroflot models! I am currently trying to get an example of every 1:200 Tu-154 available, and so far have 29 different ones. I believe I am just over half way there...

As for plastic kits l have many of the Russians in 1:100 scale from a East Germany manufacturer made in the'80s. Of course I don't built any kits any more but a diecast Il-62,76,86,96 and An-12,225 will be more than welcome with today's standard. Nice and huge Russian models Kris. Nice show. Thanks.

Regards Modestos

.... I'm lucky enough to have a 1:200 scale IL-96 in current Aeroflot colours and even though it is a Wooster snap-fit it is still an impressive looking model and aircraft type to display ...... I agree that someone needs to make this (and the IL-86) sooner rather than later .......
