Default Il-62 and Il-86 please!

i had the opportunity to spot them both a couple of times at HAJ /EDDV in the late 90s and early 2000s

i wonder if WM could give us a decent mould, yes Herpa said it (Il-62) still is in the pipeline,
but to be honest i have nearly given up hope concerning that one.

...though an Ilyushin might be too non-western for Western Models...
....to ask SMA would even be a contradiction in itself - - Seattle Model Aircraft... so who (if anybody) will be doing them...?

This is an opportunity most manufacturers seem to be letting by....everybody is making 720s, Airbuses ( though they ALL keep forgetting the A310!) 787s, 744s,....I also dont understand why these two models keep being left behind....

A310 . . . no kidding, eh? Someone needs to step up and create a brilliant series of these.

The IL-62 is a very cool looking aircraft, but then, I always thought the VC-10 was very cool looking, too.

Back in the Cold War, it was probably both political, and lack of reference material that kept models of Soviet airliners off of the model shops shelves. In this post Communist era, neither should be an excuse for depriving us of many more Tupolevs, Ilyushins and Yakovlev die casts. For whatever reasons, Antonovs don't seem to be as neglected.

Neil.

I can't help it but also agree with what you just said...

If Gemini & JC wings can manufacture the famous Vickers VC-10 in 1:200 scale, than why not the Russian build IL-62, which was as good of a aircraft as the VC-10, if not more popular...

even more annoying is, that we currently have to face the copycat syndrome in a pretty excessive shape, airline and mouldwise - i fully support the search for the holy grail (named pefect 77W)....but manufacturers aren't very creative when it comes to choosing liveries.... same issue on the A350, is Inflight copying JC/GJ or vice versa....

concerning the 744 i have to say since i've seen the latest JC EVA 744 this seems to be the perfect mould - sorry never been a fan of the IF counterpart, so pardon me if i would like to see a few liveries being redone on the JC mould.
and there is absolutely no need for a third mould.... having the 77W in mind - (JC/GJ, PHX, IF200 metal diecast wise - - HG, Herpa/Limox, Risesoon plastic wise)

I would think the chances of seeing an IL-62 are probably better than an IL-86 as more airlines flew it. Correct me if wrong, but didn't just Aeroflot fly the IL-86?

I have a source in Russia that has done some custom made models for me in recently. They are resin, and 1:100, but the quality is amazing.

I had them do custom models for me of the prototype Il-62, Il-86, and Tu-154, and they even added in features that were unique to the prototypes, such as a nose probe and chines on the Il-62. They will pretty much model any Soviet era aircraft, and any reg, as long as you have photos of it. A good friend of mine picked up four different Tu-154M models, as well as a Ruby Star An-12. I am currently planning getting a Il-18 and Tu-114 in the original late 1950's/early 1960's livery, and a Transaero Tu-214 next from them.

The SSJ is a 1:72, and it is from the same people, but it was not a custom model. These are all from Arsenal Avia in Moscow.
