Gemini 200 British Airways A380 Right Wing Loose

I have a Gemini 200 British Airways A380 G-XLEA.

I have recently opened the box but did not take my model out as I can
see that the right wing is loose and will fall off.

I would like to re-attach this wing to the model.

Does anyone have advice on how I should go about this ?

I need to make sure that this wing is attached perfectly symetrically to
the left wing.(ie same dihederal)

When I remove the model I will do so over a soft pillow to avoid any
damage.

I understand that others who had purchased this model have go the same
problem.

The loose wing problem is common with many GJ BA A380s. I reattached mine with 5 minute epoxy. It isn't too difficult to clean up if it gets where it isn't supposed to be.

You could also use crazy glue, but if you get ANY on the painted surface of the model, it WILL NOT COME OFF. I would use the epoxy

I've had this problem lots of times...with all types of models. Easy fix...I just used a little bit of super glue...and I mean a small amount...and re-attach. Done!

Same advise as above, don't get any of the glue on the model fuselage.

Hey, I had the same issue with my BA a380. Looked fine in the store, And on quick inspection. When looking closer when I got home appeared to be loose. Now loose means it fell out in my hand. I emailed geminijets and here is the response.

*retracted*,

Sorry to hear that you had some trouble with the model.

Super glue is the best adhesive to use - please apply a thin layer
(we recommend Loctite Gel Control) to the wing as it enters the
fuselage. Wing will stay put forever more!

Hope this helps!

Only problem is, if you get any of the super glue on the finish of the model, you have a spot forever. You CAN NOT remove super glue from paint without removing the paint too!!

Personally i would never put glue on the part that has to be inserted, just because of the issue that might occur like you describe.
When needed, i put a little glue inside the fusilage (on the parts that has the wing inserted deep inside the fusilage that is).
But first check both parts (the one that needs to be inserted and de fusilage itself on old glue or any other remains), because if you put it in once you added the glue in the fusilage part, you want it to be exactly right and not have to get the wing out again, as that issue as described can happen then also.

It is not a difficult fix, you just have to be carefull what you are doing.
And if you do it correct, there have to be no issues and the wing will stay in for a long time.

Tip, don't practise this repair when you have had too much coffee.
You might spil glue anyway

Yes I don't disagree. Anytime you put glue on anything you risk this chance. you MUST be super careful with any repair on these models.

But they do recommend a certain type of glue, and I found it at home depot.

Check this webiste, I have been using this glue now recently a few times and while being as strong and quick to bond as super glue, it doesn't appear to leave those vapor marks behind.

Very many thanks to everyone for their help I think I will (VERY CAREFULLY) attach
the wing using superglue.

One question: If I remove the model from the box and simply re-attach the wing to
the fuselage will the dihederal be as it should (ie the same as that of the left wing) ?

Or do I need to do something else to ensure that the right wing's dihederal (angle to
the horizontal) is the same as the left wing ? eg some kind of adjustment

Re: Gemini 200 British Airways A380 Right Wing Loose

As mentioned first do a dry fit of the wing, then apply glue to the receiving end/fuselage slot NOT the tab on the wing. As for dihedral, hold the model looking head-on keeping the wing in place until the glue takes hold. It should only require a few seconds if using superglue. (Maybe 10 seconds to be sure)

Whenever setting a tricky or heavy part on a model I often place it on a pillow on the couch in an orientation that keeps the part at the proper angle. So for a wing, once the initial positioning is done, I would put the model on the pillow but resting on its side, with the repaired wing facing vertically (pointed toward the ceiling) until the glue completely cures. Same can be done for repairing gear (put the model on it's back) or any other parts. Let gravity do the work.

Just my opinion : Super glue can be very risky, 5 minute epoxy is much more comfortable and you have enough time to adjust the dihedral of the wing.

Many thanks.I will consider using the 5 minute epoxy, although I re-attached a broken nose landing gear strut some years ago using superglue.

Don't mean to keep adding in, but Jean Pierre's advice regarding epoxy is definitely good advice...
