Well This bird makes a real change from what i have had in the hands in the Past :
IF 200s or " ACM " from the Sheraton Hotel in Heathrow . ( concerning the engines and the nose )

I would like to have the opinion of Mr 727 Pilot .

Chers

Hi Denis.

I'm sure that you have a very interesting collection but this model is certainly one of the best you have.

It's a pity that we have no retailer for SMA in Europe.

A United B 720 would be great, first airline to put this aircraft into service.

Thank you for sharing these photos and your enthusiasm.

Jean Pierre.

Great model, but aren't the cheatlines printed on two different levels (look at the joint at the horizontal stab in the rear / compare pics 1 and 2)? left side seemd to sit a little higher (yes, i am nitpicking - when a model has got cheatlines issues like this are becoming obvious very quickly -> and disturbing to they eye imho) where is the quality control here....
most likely i wouldn't have noticed it when the chosen livery was Eurowhite.

SMA and Aeroclassics200 are definately setting new standards in 1/200, but they HAVE to avoid things like this in the future just for the sake of pumping out theri releases more quickly than other manufatcurers...

Read what the OP said - these were shot with an iPhone. I would NOT pass judgement on a model based on iPhone photos. The lens on an iPhone is nothing special. To my eye, there are obvious lens distortions in these photos.

I can Tell you : i have waited since 2003 , i do not regrett it ; this Model looks fine .
As i said before , i have had somes (very expensive) in my hands such as Skyline Models (the shop keeper did not even know on those days that Braniff had 720s and 707-138Bs !)
Believe me or not : this mold , is may be no perfection ( which you cannot get unless you stole one from the Seattle factory ! ) but a really fine one . I wish now more 720s like this one , and hope the makers to plan a 707-138 mold on the same base .

That's a lovely model. My favourite Lufthansa colour scheme. Back in the 80s, I used to work Boeing 720B of the Danish airline, Conair. Even when fully loaded, the take off and rate of climb was amazing. Thanks for taking the time to post your pics.

Neil.

THANK you Neil . I remember an airliners magazine keen on the 720 issued in 2001 .
They called this bird " the Thunderbird " ; to confirm your arguments , it was said that this aircraft had special performances to take off from airports situated in high altitude by extream high températures ( i.e the EL AL flight shopping in Teheran on the way to JO'BURG) . There were the days when Four Jets and power used to work together .

Concerning MAERSK and CONAIR can you Tell me the long distances covered by this pretty Bird ?

Thanks

Both the Maersk and Conair machines roamed far and wide from their Scandinavian homes. As well as the usual Mediterranean and North African destinations, Conair used to do charter flights to the Eastern U.S, Canada, and St Lucia. I know they threaded their way as far as the U.S west coast on occasion, and also ventured to Kenya. From what I can remember, Maersk seemed to concentrate more on the Mediterranean and North African destinations, although they did fly charters to Cape Verdi, and the Indian Ocean destinations. Interestingly, as Maersk acquired their 737-200 fleet, the Maersk 720Bs 'moved across the apron' at CPH to join Conair. This enabled Conair to dispose of the two early 'coal burner' 720s, that they were still operating in the mid 80s. I didn't have as much to to with Maersk as I did with the Conair flights. In the 70s, Danish operator Sterling, flew transatlantic charters with their Caravelles, quite an achievement back then.

Neil.
