Default JC Wings Wunala Dreaming models

Just seen the first photos of VH-OJB at JC Wings Facebook site, looking nice, but somehow I can not see the orange sprayed areas, may be lower quality photos, or not intense orange color, or no orange areas printed, who knows?

I am talking about the orange areas visible here for example:

More so than anythig, they forgot to paint the pylons the silver color. Instead, they left them in the light gray normal to 747s sporting GE engines.

How could that be!? Its probably a sample, and they are going to revise it.I'm sure they will.

I definitely see a slight orange tinge on the blue kangaroo behind the orange hump, but I can't really see any of the orange on the hump/nose sections. Those engine mounts may be a deal breaker though. I hate to see such a beautiful model ruined by such a simple mistake. If they are able to fix that, orange or no orange I'm getting one.

Too often samples been nothing but production models shown, and not a single evident fault been corrected to models being sold. That happened so many times, so I´m not too optimistic this will happen here. I got it preordered, but will cancel if it comes like that. We will see what will happen! :-)

Yeah the same thing happened with the new livery KLM. The cheatline, brow (although I would not have expected them to fix that because its the actual mold), window alignment, and radome on the initial photos were unacceptable. I was thinking they would fix it by the time they released the models because they were hugely distracting issues that were easy fixes, but I was wrong.

I had 4 pre-orders in as of last month (JC new klm, IF old KLM, JC wunala x2), and I have cancelled 3 (only the new KLM remains, even though it is very much flawed). Super disappointed.

Just looked at the photos from JC Wings Facebook...It is such a beautiful model indeed. It comes in with the new mould with jewel lights wing/nose too. NO MODEL IS PERFECT but for sure this Wunala is a piece of art and JC is again did the magic to deliver such a high quality model. Thanks JC...

Yes! It's all the more frustrating that this model is excellent in nearly every way if you ignore these pylons. Just make this simple fix, and suddenly, the model is nearly perfect!!

This is just the sample , the final product will be corrected

The orange shadows are there, but since the picture quality are low, it cannot reflect the actual paintwork on the model, I will try to upload some HD pics later next week

Awesome, glad to hear this will be corrected. I thought that might be the case with the orange shades, too. Cameras sometime struggle to differentiate between similar colours!

Looking good Marcus. Lifted a photo of facebook yesterday, but since you have done all the great hard work I thought I would let you post it. These photos are still of a sample pre-production model. Finished models will come with metal coloured finish engine pylons according to Marcus on facebook. Nice to see the jewel lights on the wings and landing gear. Great job team JC.
Just a personal note. OJB flew most of it's life without a white Sat on it's roof and when ever I flew on her entertainment was watching movies the old fashioned way! So personally I would prefer it without the sat dome and the oneworld sticker on door L1 as Qantas joined oneworld in 1999,hey but I am just being old fashioned, and that's how I remember her.
Cheers Steve

Yes, old cinema style, been the first time I seen "Mr. Bean" on one of those flights, very funny, had a stiff neck after that flight.

Beautiful mould but the livery is not up to standard as others have pointed out.

Looks GREAT.

The Rolls Royce engine mold looks spot on to me. I think these are the first correct Rolls Royce pylons that I have seen, particularly for the #2 and #3 engines. No one has gotten the slight 'hump' on the forward part of #2 and #3 pylon right until now. The engines have all of the right curves and shapes. It even looks like has the correct conical spinner for a RR engine.

Can't tell if the brow has been modified or not, but the whole nose and cockpit area looks GREAT to me. It looks like you completely nailed the look of the real thing.

I can make out the orange patches but they appear very subtle and it's probably just the digital camera blending the colors. Overall I think it looks awesome and I love the gears, and the addition of the light jewels on the landing lights! Cant wait for my three to arrive.

I think I have figured it out. I think the post was referring to the 2 patches of oxidized paint directly behind the cockpit windows and on the bottom part of the nose just behind the radome on the 1:1 pic at the start of this post. Out of the paint shop she didn't have those patches.

That's what I thought, and it's official, it is what all of San Diego is thinking as we in SOCAL are now the majority on these message boards (so it would seem).

They are there Let's refer to picture #1, Look at the end of the Upper deck cabin above the green roo's tail for the yellowish - to orange spot, and also along the yellow kangaroo footprints behind the first blue roo forward section near door L1 and also at the rear between the last two circular dots

Marcus has already siad the pylons would be 'natural metal', so the pic isn't accurate already. Anyway, the 'orange spots' are paint oxidation of the red paint in the warm tropical sun and weren't there when the plane was delivered.

I would prefer the 'as new' paint and natural metal pylons as she was delivered at the start of her career, not as she appeared before she was repainted..

Please check out this site about the history of Wunala, here the VH-OEJ bird. The orange areas ain´t paint oxidation, they been there from beginning. I seen Balarinji design sheets including the orange areas somewhere, can´t find em in the moment.

VH-OEJ Boeing 747-438ER

Here´s the infos about the VH-OJB, including photos after paint job:

VH-OJB Boeing 747

Here you may see a pic of Wunala VH-OJE brandnew in Sydney, August 17 2003, including the sprayed orange areas.

Without the orange areas, or with hardly visible orange colors Wunala is missing the important wonderful colors that stands for that bird.

Having lived in SYD and seen Wanula more times than I can remember the orange is an integral part of the design. Correct it is not oxidisation or discolouration.

Default Re: JC Wings Wunala Dreaming models

Ok, this is very strange. Pics are all from 2000 and 2001. It does look like VH-OJB may not have started out without the orange , or maybe it was much more subtle. As time went on, the orange 'spots' were either oxidized, added very soon, or oxidized much more quickly than the red paint giving the pics we are all familiar with.

90% of the pics show some variation of the orange, but it becomes noticeable in mid 2000 and is definitely a part of the design by the end of the year.
