Everyone keeps saying "JC please release this" or "oh now JC will definitely release this," but remember, JC only has a 747-400 mold, so they CANNOT make Nalanji at this time!

If you want this plane in diecast, this is probably your best bet. Now that Inflight has been outdone by JC's mold with the 747-400, expect more IF 747 classics, where they still have no competition.

Do you have any real numbers to prove this, or are you based on some threads from Dac!?
Both models have flaws, its been talked and talked over and over, but now people have a choice.
And thats what should matter.

Yes there is plenty of data here on to back this up. Take a look at the Tropical decisions thread. The initial purchase count was 23 JC models to 2 IF models and the final count was 59 JC models to 5 IF models. That should pretty much be all you need to understand the relative success of the molds and the difficulty that IF would have competing with JC 744.

The majority of my 747s are IF and yes, I am always glad that there is a choice. The most important thing is that these manufacturers keep up their quality instead of shoving out releases as fast as possible.

JC made the 747-400, I am sure 747 Classic will be done very soon. I can see some other manufacturers either upscale the 1/400 or by copying existing model kits because they don't have enough knowledge on real planes. While JC have their engineering team with lots of experience on aircraft maintenance, no need to be rush unless all good to go.

Yeah I agree, thats why I edited the post to say "at this time"

We were presented with the first pictures of JC 747-400 mold back in September of last year and they have only made one model in these past 9 months. I am just trying to clear up the misconception that JC has the power to make any 747 model right now. Perhaps in the future things will be different, but for now, I am going to order this one.

If you really want this livery, there is no guarantee JC will make the 300 mold so just keep that in mind.

I know I am in the minority but personally I hate this livery. I prefer the classic simple schemes, this is just too busy and looks like a kids design competition winner.

I agree. That's why I like IF200's "Big Red" Qantas so much, it reminds me of Braniff's "Big Orange". I heartily dislike Nalanji, and Singapores "Tropical" too. All the various colours and shapes detract from the pleasing shape of the 747's lines. This one is not a model I'm remotely interested in.

I feel the opposite. It's a creative livery. It shows that thought went into it. It's very different from a livery that looks like it took less than a minute to design. It's also the style of Aboriginal art, which is thousands of years old...not kids art

+ 3 here on the power plants Rolls Royce RB211-524's that powered this aircraft.

Inflight already have theses engines and have used them on all Qantas & Qantas's Australia Asia 747SP's. I suspect there will be engine pod mount changes as the wings are different from the 747-300 to the 747SP. Inflight did do nice engines on the first releases of the SP with painted center cowlings & on the Qantas Australia Asia models. On the last livery of Qantas 747SP Inflight did not paint the center cowlings for some reason. I will let you guys see for your self's as I have all the inflight releases both rego's of EAA & EAB.
Picture 1 is of Inflight's first release of Qantas 747SP RR RB211
Picture 2 is of Inflight's Qantas Australia Asia 747SP RR RB211
Picture 3 is of Inflight's Qantas last livery with no detailed painted center cowling's what so ever
Picture 4 is of BBOX CX release using Inflight's mould for CX 747-300 with some kind of RR RB211 engine I have never seen before on a real aircraft
Picture 5 is of the Skymarks/ Risesoon Nalanji engines.

Let's hope its close to the real thing like Erik's picture. Fingers crossed
Also wouldn't mind a standard livery too like others above have posted above
Cheers Steve

Hm, I definitely prefer Wunala, especially as it is somewhat less "busy", but Nalanji is pretty too. Mind you, the colors on the drawing look rather dull, the real thing looked much shinier.

Again, at this moment, JC does not have a 747-300 mold, so you are taking a risk by waiting. There is obviously a possibility that they will make this mold in the future, but if you skip this release you are risking ever having this livery in diecast!

If you want to bet that JC will make the 300 mold and this specific livery in the future that's your prerogative, but be careful about misleading people into thinking that JC will definitely make this model in the future.

Well the hump is definitely the shorter one that would be on the 100 or 200, but the wing are the biggest thing with the 300. All they really have to do is put these wings on the 400 fuselage.

Not 100% correct, only few -300 built in 1988 have the wing box same as -400. Try B-HON and B-HOM from CX, you will know what I am saying.

Thats pretty interesting, i never knew that. Thanks for teaching me something new. I knew that some airliners had the upper deck stretched on their 200's but i had no idea that they had two versions of the 300

For anyone else who is interested, here are pictures of the aircraft that tonka mentioned showing the differences
