Default Dear Gemini, Where is the Air China 747-8??

Hi Marcus, Rod and/or Crownvic.

I was disappointed to not see the Air China 747-8 (1/200) as part of this month's releases. Way back in January, Gemini said that this model would be part of the April or May releases and that updates about it would be coming soon, but so far, no dice. I know a lot of us are really excited about this model and the 748 mold and can't wait for it to come out, but I feel that we're really getting teased now.

Can any of you guys give us some sort of update on this release as well as when we can expect it? I'm hoping that it will at lease be part of the next batch of releases.

Cheers!

My guess is....with the sample photos of the Lufthansa 747-8 out that this will be the first release, and they said that was coming late summer right? Then I think the Air China and Lufthansa retro scheme will follow. Along with some 747-8 cargo's mixed in.

Really hoping we will see the Etihad 747-8F!

Your guess seems to be on the right track based on what we've seen. But I'm still holding out hope that we'll see a 748 before the end of summer. What's kind of annoying is that Gemini announced the Air China 748 back in January and it still hasn't come out, while they announced the Vietnam a350 (with also no early sample pics) and the new KLM 777 months later and they were released already! I'd just like some kind of update from Gemini like we were promised when they announced it, instead of having to wait for monthly hints.

Yeah...me too...I'm anxious for all of these sooner then later.

They have also announced the Lufthansa retro version. But neither that one nor the Air China are to be seen yet, but we do see samples of the Lufthansa regular version which they had not previously announced.

Its great that you are excited about this release but keep in mind the announcement back in January was from Marcuswong who works at the factory that makes Gemini Jets..It was never an official announcement from Gemini...

All three of the B747-8I models are definitely coming.
Sometimes things take a little longer to come to fruition than planned.
I just got the pricing for these models today as a matter of fact, so
it should be much longer.

I thought Marcus was speaking for Gemini, should we ignore statements he makes when he posts it on Gemini's FB page then?

It was announced on GJ facebook page back to the end of Jan, and stated clearly that's only an ETA, delay are expected as we are still finalizing the tooling ......and it was an official news update which is approved by elliot

Although not interested in the Air China version... I shall certainly be adding the Lufthansa version as the sample Photos look great, it will be an awesome model so i am saving some money to add that when its released

I do like the heads up on big future releases and understand that dates can slip from time to time...

I was in Budapest last week and witnessed a person carrying a large box that had a 747-800 Air China on it. The box was very nice and it looked like a quality item. So maybe they are around the corner?

Ok understood Marcus, thanks. Can we at least have an updated ETA or possibly some updated pics soon?

GJ/JC are not like others who rush out the models(new moulds)with known and obvious flaws, they need some fine tunes before can give the green light, you can try compare the engines on the BA and LH samples.

Totally understand......things can always shift. We would rather have a nice model I think than to rush it to market.

Keep the awesome models coming!

You're right, and I'm glad that they have delayed the release slightly because they want to fine-tune the details to ensure us collectors receive a quality product!

I completely agree as well, I'd rather wait and get a well made model than see a rush job. I was just trying to get a little more clarity on where it stands. But it looks like we'll be getting it soon now according to Tonka's convo with Marcus!

Seems like some collectors like rushed models who have a ton of mistakes and then end up complaining about it . As for me, it's always good to wait for a better product. You can have more time to save some cash too, however with the recent announcements i think most people will be strapped for cash haha!
