That might be the new -800 that has been found. I know the pic is a -700, are they using 800's across the pond?

From other thread:"Saw this page in the Airplane Shop holiday Catalog, could these be next months releases?

G2AFO420: USAF KC-135 RAF Mildengall
G2KLM395: KLM 777-200ER
G2PAL343: Philippines Airlines A340-300 "70 Asia's First Shining Together" titles
G2UAL398: United Express ERJ-170 New livery
G2WJA233: Westjet 737-700
G2QFA409: Qantas A380-800
G2WJA234: Westjet 737-800 (not pictured) ..."

No they aren't using the -800's across the pond, and nobody was aware of this tail scheme until today so impossible that the release is that.

Besides, G2WJA233 was the already released 737 a few months back, where as the B738 is a new product number.

My last flight on Westjet (jammed in like a sardine) to Hawaii was so uncomfortable, I swore never to fly them again. I cannot imagine suffering aboard a Westjet 737 all the way to the UK.

I am thinking they might be using a 767 for that route as well

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another world renown air carrier, known far and wide for its service, fleet size and massive footprint, has marginally modified its tail paint scheme. To go where - Oh that's right, somewhere in Scotland.

God I'm glad to know this before everyone else!

GLA to YHZ is one of the shorter transatlantic routes. Europe Airpost operated this route on a weekly basis last year. Westjet operated YHZ to DUB last year. GLA is a modest expansion of their transatlantic flights. It will be interesting to see if they switch these flights to YYZ with the 767's next year or if they keep the YHZ route and using the 737's.

Yes, I hear ya. My last few flights were all showing progressive signs that WJ has entered into the same kind of category as their competition -- Air Canada. Sad.

My personal OT flight experiences aside, the idea of a WJ model with that tail would be very cool for those who collect WJ.

the flight is only around 6 hours and may even be less so barely longer than the regular Canary and Egypt flights in the same config. I would imagine most will be connecting onwards to other Canada and US so a nice stop to breakup journey. I think Tartan westjet will do well on this route as Air Transat have had it easy (with Rouge to EDI creating a new different additional expanded market rather than significantly cannabalising)

I have no idea but I can tell you this

As for VH-OGL, it will fly on as one of four Qantas 767-338ERs sold to Boeing Capital that in turn, reportedly, have been sold to Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet, which is starting up a long-haul operation. Plus Westjet has purchased 767-300ER directly from Qantas that have been in long term storage at Mohave Desert
