Nice release but I would have preferred a 747-300 in the same livery. The Inflight version of this is still widely available. I think 700 plus were produced - it was a huge run. It can still be had at cheap prices on ebay, which is where I picked up mine, having missed it at retail. So I don't see the need to reboot this, other than to commemorate QF final 747-400 flight. I'll pass.

If anyone is listening....please....Qantas 747-300!

Is this on JC new mold? Not IF as shared with GJ?

This will be on the new JC mould I expect. A QF 747-3 would be nice. A lot of people, myself included have been asking for years now. This will be a nice release though of an historic occasion. Thank you team JC & GJ for doing it.

Yep - this is a must have for anyone who managed to witness OJA's final landing at Albion Park here in Sydney.

I'm all over this like a bad suit so count me in.......

And yes - JC please consider the 743 in QF colours.....and Nalanji of course.

Weird, on the ARD thread, this is down as an IF release...anyhow, lovely looking bird, and there is a slight varitaion over the «ity of Perth' in that she has the correct delivery livery and titles, if I'm not mistaken?
As for the 747-300 push...YES, and +1 for Nalanji too!

Really? Are we getting to version of the OJA? One by Inflight and one by GJ/JCW?

It was better if one of the parties would have chosen the 747-300 instead.

This is happening far too often now. The 743 is not in my criteria but at least it's something different. What happened to variety.

Well with the two Air NZ 787 and the retro Air NZ 747 and the other two Qantas 747 I have ordered this month I think I can safely say this will be the last model I ever order.......

Too many models in too shorter time. This is getting crazy. I cant keep up with this anymore.

Well...
looks like this is going to be my first 1:200 747!!

In keeping with the aussie 747 run, maybe an Ansett 743/744 sometime soonish?

Or... commemorate the retirement of the last Qantas Boeing 767 passenger flight , VH-OGL? well one can dream right?

Announced but you can wait 18 months for some IF models, only they have the 747-300 mould, why they go for -400 too ?

Weren't the IF200 747s made in JCs factory over the past 5 or so years? I've heard the biggest complaint IF200 was delays from JC. Maybe moving their production to another factory would shorten and/or improve deliveries.

I've read about IF200s release in robertjohn's post before Marcus made this announcement for Gemini's release. Who scheduled it first is up in the air.

If JC wings really is the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of Inflight200, wouldn't that be kind of awkward? Will JC wings know the "technology" Inflight200 used because of that? Just curious.

Key word is "was". Im guessing this is why we're seeing a new 747 mould from JC, and IF200 working on a new 777 mould...and the constant put down from the JC camp.

We know well how Infight is operating now and before, announcement>pre-order>grasp the total amount of models can be sold>months later, tell the factory how many for production.
Schedule and production is complete different story, pull out the books of B747s, you can name 200+ liveries easily, they can announce all of them in one single shot but sorry, they are the releases in next decade.

Good, that gives me time to save money for their release!
All these models coming so soon and in big quantities...
Not buying the Qantas 747-400 anyway...
Waiting for another IF release instead!

Well, maybe switching factories was a good move for them then. I can already see one of the B747s announced at the end of March completed. Granted it's only one, but maybe an indication of things moving faster than before?

You are not correct Geeforce9 but it's a good point you rasied, and neither is ARD on their site of OJA's artwork. ARD has artwork of OJA in the 2002 colours(which it never flew) & not the delivery colours like this GJ release of the original delivery colours which is 100% correct. It may be worthy to note that OJA has never been repainted in the revised 2002 colours or the latest 2007colours since she joined the fleet and so as you can see she retired in her delivery colours! Here's proof if you need it Inflight who are about to release, & Risesoon/Skymarks who have also released OJA in 2007 fleet colours a few years back well it's too late for that release (picture 3)and the model value = $0.00. The 2002 colours had the aircraft name after the flag like the first Inflight200 OJH "City of Perth" and as you can see of the real aircraft photo's taken on the last flight the delivery fonts of "The Australian Airline" & "Longreach" all original as the day she was delivered. Also worthy of note was the different shades of grey of engines one & two and the 2007 Roo on the RR engines! but don't expect manufacturers to go that far though!

Another second run of the same model. I am wondering when this race between the manufacturers will stop. Nice release anyway for the first release high prices to land back to earth.

I didn't see much difference between the GJ and the IF proposed colours...in fact they both say 'Spirit of Australia' rather than 'The Australian Airline' under the QANTAS logo. The only thing I can see different is the lower antennae which are striped on the GJ bird. Anyway, I have not yet pre-ordered this one as I wouldn't mind seeing both releases in the flesh before commiting, but my money will prob be on the GJ bird...to be honest, I'd like to see conical spinners with the yellow corkscrew effect on the black RR spinners, that would be cool!

I have to agree with you. I think the gemini/JCW will be the better model with all of the upgrades and their new mold.

I also think there will be a better chance of the yellow spinners in the Rolls Royce engines on the Gemini model. The recent IF Cathay Pacific 'Asia's World City' has almost unrecognizable white swirls on an incorrect round engine cone on their RR engines. I did however, like the smaller sized landing gear wheels now that I am used to them.

Once again, BOTH Gemini/JCW and InFlight are doing very similar releases of the same airplane and same airline.

May I suggest all DO NOT pre-order any model until you see the photos.

I have to quote you one more time. As there has been a big push for pre-orderers I will say what I know. ARD website still showing incorrect livery artwork for pre-order even after I posted correct pictures of the actual aircraft of VH-OJA why? Here is artwork which may help decide, beyond this post you are free to select very much incorrect artwork of IF as for the correct artwork please refer to the above topic posted by Marcus

Shouldn't be a surprise, but put me down in the "I don't see much of a difference" category.

Same here. I have looked and looked and can't see what you are on about!
Is it the colour or wording that's wrong? The tail Roo is right,

I have been having a look at both models and had a good read of this thread, really trying to figure out the main difference for the $30AUD price difference on the two.
The only real difference i can think of is the above mentioned antennae on the underside with red stripes, and the undercarriage being on different quality between IF and GJ/JC.
Iv already pre-ordered JC Wunala and looking to make this the next addition.

Im guessing we will have to wait for the post-production photos, but overall which is renowned for greater quality thus far in the 744 mould? (IF vs GJ/JC)

Thanks

Many on here says the JC mould is superior to IF's mould. I, for one, do not know what most see so I cannot judge as I am happy with both. Basically, buy what you like and like what you buy.

Personally, if I had to choose between one over the other it would be the IF for the following reason:

1. Removeable gears: Not too stable from the few I have encountered already, so I'm afraid the model will fall onto its wing or nose if I didn't secure the landing gears properly.

2. Brow over the flight deck window looks to low, giving it a slick look. Others would counter IF's brow is too pronounced, guess whichever is your preference

3. Seems like JC has problems with printing their window lines straight, which is what I nitpick over. I admits its a small cosmetic issue, but we each have our demons.

I'm hoping with the delayed releases of their 747s means JC is working on some of these as well as other issues pointed out over the past few months.

I'd also like to add that despite their long delayed release history (ie announce in May 2014, release in Feb 2015), seems like IF is on tract to releasing their 747s within a reasonable amount of time after its announced (maybe 2-3 months).

ARD are showing correct font however the artwork is not reflecting the Longreach titles in a bolder gold leaf colour. That said I have no doubt they (Inflight) will nail it in their release. Getting exciting. Now who can lend me a few hundred bucks? Just kidding I have to sell some thing fast including my Herpa's and Skymarks to start with!

It may not look that yellow or orange, but looking closer we can see that the titles are gold, at least I see it?!

Also the logo on the engines are correctly positioned, too.
After watching all the videos I cannot wait for this release, love the IF mould and thats what Im going to buy.

Hi Rui, arkwork can sometimes me a little misleading, however, as I said I have no doubt Inflight will nail it, and get it spot on

Hi I'm sure they will, these drawings are only a glimpse of what is coming, the model is what matters in the end!

Was that what you were referring to...OK, got it now. Couldn't tell before whether IF had any color for the "Longreach from the artwork on the ARD website.

Yes that was what I was referring too. If you look at the pictures I took of the aircraft on her last flight you can see. Perhaps I was a little critical of the the ARD site's artwork cause it still looks very gray to me. I know they would not get that wrong but perhaps selling models on artwork alone should be banned and photographs of pre-production models or production models only allowed. What do you say?
