Default KLM 747-400 Poll: JC vs. IF vs. Jet-X

As requested by wonglw3, here is a poll to get a better idea of what people think of all the upcoming KLM 747-400s. Exclude the 747-200 because IF is the only option.

1) JC

2) IF

3) Jet-X

Attachment 114865 I will hold on and wait for them to release theirs, if the global supply of KLM blue is not depleted by then from all the examples all these manufacturers are doing. Their KLM 747-400 should be fabulous!

Russell Models features a new kind of waffle tooling. Syrup pours in very easily.

They are plastic, right? I have a RM Avianca 757 (my only plastic model), which is very nice. No antennas, though.

The JC 747-400 is a new generation mould. It is better than the IF 747-400 in terms of many aspects.

Seen the JCW version and the windows is an issue.
If JWC can get control of the window printing the JCW 744 is awesome.

Waiting for the first pics of the Inflight version.

No, but I would say the jeweled landing lights on the wings and on the nose gear, the improved wing joint (compared to IF), the radome outline, more accurate engine mold, and nose profile sure are some of these improved 'aspects'!!

Paint alignment can be fixed pretty easily.

An outdated mold can't be fixed as easily though. It would take a redesign of the wing/fuselage connection and new engine molds without over-scaled lines on the engine cowl. And probably the nose profile too.

I just know what I like.

I was really disappointed with the IF AWC 747-400 due to the change in the wheel size to smaller wheels all around (again). The wing to fuselage joint doesn't look too bad, but it is still dated, and the JCW nose profile looks SO much better to me. I think I'm getting to be an all JCW for my 747s kind of guy. Sorry IF enthusiasts!

I do, however, really like the new InFlight stand, a BIG improvement IMHO. I have had the screws pull out of the wood base of a JCW wood stand base and the 747 model do a nose dive. Luckily I was putting the model back on the stand at the time, so no damage. I now epoxy AND screw the vertical member of the stand into the base, but I still don't use the stand for any 747 or A380 models. The IF stand doesn't look quite as good, but it is a MUCH more solid stand.

I am however looking forward to the new InFlight 777-300ER mold. Hopefully IF will do good things with that one.

Well, so far, no news of IF Boeing 777 mould if I'm not mistaken. The EVA AIR T7 "Ribbon" (ALB models)'s ETA was May, but I think that's kind of impossible since there aren't any news recently...

In my opinion, JC wings has the best Boeing 747-400 mould so far, if they can provide us with stronger(more stable) landing gear and a revised 747 nose, the current Inflight200 mould will be a lot less competitive.

Sorry, but I don't think that is correct. Both Waffle and Nick have klm 777-300ERs up for pre-order. Waffle lists both the KLM 'New Livery' and '95th Year' liveries up for pre-order, and nick has the 'New Livery' 777-300ERs for pre-order also.

1:200 Inflight200 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing B 777-300 PH-BVK
1:200 Inflight200 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing B 777-300 PH-BVN
and
Jetway Models - Gemini Jets, Inflight200, Phoenix, Dragon Wings, Herpa Wings, Jet-X

What we don't have is pics of the 'new mold', or an expected delivery date.

And of course as you mentioned, the Albatros release using the 'new' InFlight mold also.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was talking about the news(pics) of Inflight200's new T7 mould and the delayed expected delivery date of EVA "Ribbon". Thanks!

Ah. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Yup, no pics of the new mold or any update on the Albatros Eva Air 777-300ER pair that were supposed to be out last month.

Albatros is now saying the Eva Air models will be in at the end of this month (May).

I hope so. I would sure like to see the new IF/ALB 777-300ER mold. I have high hopes, but also some fears based on the 'sample' pics that were posted on this forum a few weeks ago.

A very nice thought, but it probably not going to happen on this forum.

I personally think the comparisons of different models and different brands is an important part of this forum. Given, sometimes we (me included) get carried away, it is still a great way to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of each model and brand. As long as we focus on the models and not each other, I think positive and negative comments are a good thing. I think it helps me, and many of us make better purchasing decisions.

I wouldn't be on this forum any where near as much if it weren't for the pictures (preview and otherwise) and the following discussions.

You, ma'am, are insulting my good friend Charlie Alpha by implying he does not know the definition of "inconceivable." That is an extremely reckless and negative thing to say, and I vote you be banned from this forum.

I kid. Happy Mother's Day!
