Default Inflight200 VARIG 747-400 Pics

Another purchase from ARD, you've seen the 747-300 pictures, here's the 747-400. A limited release of 186 models, enjoy the pictures, hope they help any potential buyers decide whether or not to take the plunge!

Flamers: check that cockpit, tool up and give it everything you've got!

I love that Varig scheme....but had to choos€, so this one wont be flying this way. The wheels look different though, from my Cathay 747 model...can we have a closer look at the main gears Andy, please?

That livery is just great! I'd take the plunge but geez...if I got this one I'd have to get the -300 and the JC 767's that were recently released to go with it....

I'll get some pictures of the gear tomorrow for you Rui, the bird is currently boxed and temporarily stored in my daughters bedroom!

As promised Rui, some pics of the main gear:

Plus a couple of close ups of the squashed cockpit...not sure why they have printed it like this...must have been a scaling error on the printing machine computer...100% width but 85% height? I am not too overly concerned as I intend to display this model with around 60+ other 747s when I move into the new house and build my display stand...anyway, check these out:

Still, at only 168 units (not 186) produced, I'm sure they will sell out.

Thanks for the photos.

The cockpit is not what it used to be. Seems it's printed too low.
The rims are not the best too but perhaps that's not the same on every model.

Look at the seam between the wings and fuselage!

Nope doesn't look good. Will check them in the store but I'm afraid it's a no go.

Enjoy if you don't mind too much.

There were a couple of birds from releases a few years back that had the low cockpit, such as the BA Landor 744. As for the seam between the wings and the fuselage, I think thats the sae for all IF 747s other than the SPs.

Thank you Andy.
Although an IF model, I am wondering if this batch of models wasnt assembled in some other place than the IF factory?
Those landing gears give it away ... We've seen them before...
Landing lights shape and design is the old one too....
Rubber tires ...lack of other tiny details...
The latest If 747 models include more details, in fact its like the original releases except for the clear plastic landing lights on the wings!
Thank you Andy, for taking the time to show these pics.
They will all look great when on display at the new house Im sure!
As for me, Im going for the PMC cabinets!
( poor mans choice=Ikea Detolf!) with extra glass shelves!

Mmmm didn't think about that version. You could be very well right.

Perhaps there was no space for the Varig so they produced the model in the/an other factory.

Anybody can see these were made elsewhere...look at those crappy gears! Those are not the regular IF gears, with the cheap shaped wheels and all. No way Jose!
Sorry, Geeforce,, Andy, dont mean to be rude or something, but there is a big difference in the Cathay model from JFox(IF) and this Varig.
Anybody can see that.

Hahaha, I couldn't care less mate, I didn't build these models to be honest, the wheels aren't too much of a concern for me, they do the job as far as I'm concerned.

Nice pistorial topic! I am still awaiting for mine to arrive, both 744 and 743 by the way. I algo got concerned about the cockpit and about the uppper deck; something is strange upthere above the cockpit. From nose to tail the first part of the upper level is supposed to be flat but what we see is diferente, not flat. What´s your opinion?

Fantastic colour scheme - so simple and elegant.
The cockpit windows do detract from this but its within acceptable limits in my book.

I love DC-10s and their cockpit window used to suck big time. One day just ordered 6 set of blank DC-10 decals, and replaced them on all six of them.

If this is your holy grail then try it. It is not as difficult as you might think.

These are the exact same wheels, that have been applied to most of IF200's previous 747 models. You better wash your eyes before ranting hardcore in here.

The upper deck does have a very slight indentation along the top on all IF 747-300/400s which is where they modified a 747-100 mould, milling it back further so I am led to believe, but it is only really noticeable if you look at the model side on, and level with the roof. You could go into the nth degree of errors, but it's really down to personal preference. If I cared so much, I'd build my own...I don't and I'm happy with this and all my other models, if you have a similar attitude, I think you'll be happy with your purchase. Especially as a Varig collector I'm happy to help you make up your mind with the photos tho

Exactly, as Tonka has said before, for the past 4,5 years they have been making the IF747s in their factory, so you are right, Vertig, but I mean the original IF releases, before the JC factory.
Dont tell me those landing gears with the nasty gaps are also an IF trademark?!
And no, I am not attacking you, and yes, I have washed my eyes.
Love you too,man.

This will join with my varig dc-10 polished model I got last year...looking forward to this one...also picked up the herpa varig 707...these will be my only varig models... I can't figure out those hideous engines on the 747-300...they should have used the same engines as was used on the old colors 747-200 ANA mohican and they should have been silver casing instead of grey paint...model would have looked much better...those exaust nozzle on the 300 looks more like a wart...Ill be happy with this 747-400 model...cockpit window not perfect but I can overlook it.

I have the 767-200 and 300 Varigs and was impressed with the finish of the two models,a suprise for a JCW 767 i thought after a bad run of other 767s i have from JCW most notably the JAL 767-200.I ordered the DC-10 and it arrived with the l/h wing dislodged and fwd lower fuselage antenna missing along with the surrounding grey paint. Not sure about ordering the 747s.

According to his theory, all bad models were made outside IF's factory

I guess this one also made outside IF's factory, their factory only made good models
