Default Your Displays

My models are in their respective boxes at the moment and I'd like to set them free but not exposed to the elements (i.e. dust). For those of you who have display cabinets or closets, post them below. Looking for designs that would suit my room and taste.

Cheers!

Here is our first glass cabinet thanks to a dear friend who knew we wanted one. He gave us the money for it.

I've got one area where I keep the majority of them and then I've got a few scattered areas. I've managed to get four into the China cabinet -- but no more than four. My wife agreed despite my mother's strong objections.

A little self build.
I´m thinking about making it darker, also the cable in the top left needs hiding.
The second picture is with light on.
I need more models.

Most of my models stay in their boxes because of the lack of space in my room.

few of them are put in my IKEA Detolf cabinet

Very nice use of Detolf's. Who made the Concorde and 2707? Are you collecting PAA piston pounders too?

Here is my set up... altho its an old pic sadly as most of my Billy Bookcase now sits empty due to downsizing my collection, I will be left with just the two Detolfs but I am considering a third Detolf to replace the empty Billy...

The Concorde is a custom, based on a Hogan, done by the talented Al Stang. The 2707 was purchased off eBay a while back, its plastic, and does not have any manufacturers marks on it. The box it came in was generic, too. IIRC, the eBay seller was a company from Florida. I haven't collected any piston PAA aircraft (yet), but may one day.

I have 500+ models so the only thing that works for me are wall mounted shelves. It does require some dusting but cabinets would not work, or I'd have to resort to buying professional retail displays. I will not become a box collector, I'd rather not collect anymore.

Some quick snaps this morning of my current collection display... have consolidated my collection now to just Delta, American, United, Air Canada, Hawaiian, Finnair and Virgin Atlantic, along with some of the American budget carriers models...

And as for my once large Tristar collection... all have gone except for a pair of Delta and Eastern L1011s....

Detolf No1...

Nice display Simon... very clean and crisp with those white units and having one model per shelf really shows it off...

Collections can become cluttered, including mine, with a large number of models per shelf...

It is all my fault that she got into collecting. Hubby is not too thrilled when the Planes are taking over. Literally.

When you have so many crammed in such a small space that you have to display some models tail first, it ceases to be tasteful.
