So is there any reason to choose a spacific reg or just buy what ever one you fancy?

I would buy whatever one you fancy. I got mine from about two releases ago and I love it, it is Reg: A6-EGP. It has removable landing gear and overall looks like a great model.

The only caution is A6-EGP and the latest release are the only ones that have the newer GE-90 engine mold and removable magnetic landing gear.

I think all of the models before A6-EGP have fixed 'skinny' landing gear and the old generic engine mold. Not my cup of tea, but you might like them.

As a proud owner of four EK B77Ws, I can say that definitely go for the newer versions (EGP and EGH).

It's a shame however, A6-EGO (1000th 777) was produced on the older mould. Fingers crossed GJ might consider another run on the new mould (wishful thinking I know)!

Emirates orders lots of models, so reason we see so many available to collectors.

The latest release is the best one of them all, better more correct engines and has the correct compressed front gear.

A6-EGH

Don't forget also the 'Pele-ane' jet (A6-ECV). Which would be a welcomed addition to many collections.

I'm pretty sure those are on the old mold with generic engines and fixed gear. Personally I would go for one of the 2 newer registrations.

I would go for A6-EGP or EGH

Yes that seems to be most peoples opinion, these two at the moment though are half the price.

That they are made on the old mold would be the reason for the reduced price. The old mold is not as popular for the reasons already stated. If the old style engines and skinny fixed gear don't bother you, go for it.

There was enough of a difference between releases that I got rid of all of my 'old mold' models and replaced them with the new mold.

Agreed. The difference between the new and old is huge (much more accurate)! Unless EBU or ECS has some value to you particularly (i.e you have flown on one or both frames) then of course go-ahead.

Looks very nice but the main gear bogies are still wrong (even in 200scale).
Where are the semi-levered gear struts????
Not one single manufacturer in either 200 or 400 scale has included this key feature on their 300ER moulds.
Unique and standard on every 300ER so it absence stands out like dogs balls.

No worry...I saw one in 1/100 scale but also missing this.

Thankfully, any plastic modeler with any degree of ability should be able to fix this. I know I did for my 777s and it wasn't a big of a deal.

Hell, I believe it was a stupid fix, the landing gears are mostly obscured by the huge engines as they are place at an angle.

If it is a stupid addition to the 300ER's accuracy, then why do people worry about the cowling shape depending on which engine is installed? Hell, most people can't tell the difference at a glance and some people aren't even aware of the different pylon configurations associated with engine types.

You just said it yourself "most people can't tell the difference at a glance and some people aren't even aware of the different pylon configurations"

I nitpick because I am a plastic modeler as well and most inaccuracies can be fixed with TLC, but I choose my battles with diecast as there is little me myself can achieve.

Point taken and valid.
Raised because people criticise models for some things and then completely ignore other fundamental characteristics associated with aircraft types.
