Default My very first diecast plane: Inflight 200 PAL 747 70th Anniversary!

She's finally here. Sharing my very first diecast plane and the start of my collecting (my credit cards are getting nervous ) It was a magical surprise when I opened the box and discovered I got No. 90 of 90 made! What an amazing stroke of serendipity for the very last Inflight 200 Philippine Airlines 747-700 70th Anniversary to end up, where else, but here in the Philippines! A wonderful start to my collection. Many thanks to Aviation Megastore: great service, and the packaging..what can I say.

How happy you must be! Having number 90 of 90 made! I wonder who has number 1!? it is a beautiful model, i am a fan too of the 747 Jumbo, have a couple too. Can not resist them, but I dont have much space free.
Congratulations and thank you for showing the images!
I will try show later my ANA 747, with a simple background.
Happy collecting and enjoy the hobby, I hope you stay around Dac too.

Many thanks for the warm welcome! I agree, the 747 is absolutely the most beautiful airliner to grace the skies. It is sad that a lot are predicting its impending demise especially with the 777x on the horizon. Philippine Airlines just retired their last 747 last year and that drove me to buy this, because I miss seeing and riding their 747-400's. It actually is great to own a model you know you've actually ridden in! I remember the tail number very well because of the "168" which is good Feng Shui according to the Filipino-Chinese here , I know for a fact I've been on this plane, RP-C8168

Here she is, RP-C8168 minus the 70th Anniversary graphic:

What a beauty...

My credit card got a hammering this month.......that will do me for a while.

3 x A380
1 x DC-10
1 x A340
1 x Tri-Star

Time for a rest before the credit control (wife) puts a stop to it.

But I must admit Lorbeer that I wouldn't say no to that one. Nice model.

you lucky man !
how cool is that?
Especially if you have such a connection with the real aircraft, and that registration.
That is the beauty in collecting Lorbeer!

Many thanks to you all for sharing in my joy and excitement! Such a swell bunch of people!

I plan on collecting strictly 200 scale or bigger. Will start with fleet building: all Philippine Airlines 200 scale planes. I am on the lookout for a rare Philippine Airlines A330-300 made by either Risesoon or Skymarks (they look identical to me in the pics on the web). I'm guessing Risesoon might have been some sort of OEM manufacturer? Though these may be plastic, they are the only ones that released the Philippine Airlines A330-300 in 1:200 scale. I'm hoping either Gemini or Inflight can make a diecast one in such a scale.

Wonglw3, prior to me snagging this 747, I have seen one other seller on eBay with this 70th Anniversary IF744PAL0414, it was way more expensive than this one that I just bought. I was just super lucky to have come across this by accident in some obscure link on a Google search..several pages down. It was cheaper and I did not even know it was the very last of the last. There are still 2 or 3 IF744PAL0413 I've seen floating around the web though, the one with tail no. RP-C7471. Still thinking if I should buy one as well even though I have the rarer model already.

I know it would be stupid to ask you guys if I should buy RP-C7471, being the addicts we all are now lol! I'm smart guessing the answer will be a resounding "YES!"

My 2nd plane is another rare one but on hanging order at Aviation Retail Direct: an Aviation 200 Philippine Airlines 737-300. I have placed the order but their webpage was not updated, and it turned out to be out of stock. They are finding a way to source a replacement stock (not sure how they will do that) but I hope they pull through. This particular model has been criticized in a different thread somewhere here for being inaccurate in some ways but I really don't care, I find the 737 very beautiful as well, and it is the only 200 scale PAL 737.

Nice model you have there!

I am considering this model for future addition to my 747 fleet but with JC's announcements about the KLM new livery and the MAS Hibiscus, I have to hold on in my purchases by priority. I also have for pre-order the recently announced GJ200 FedEx MD-11. I am on the same situation as Mr. Angry and I think many others are too.

This year has been very hard to my budget with many great and awaited releases. I can't imagine what may come for the next months, perhaps Qantas Wunala and/or Nalanji?

Greetings!

This will be rare at 90 units faster than we all can imagine. If not since this post thank you. I love anniversary airlines livery's and this is no exception. Congratulations to you Lorbeer for landing the last #90 of 90.
and she is home. Thank you for posting your first diecast & welcome to the the forum

Congratulations on your first model !!
It is a beautiful model.
Thanks for the pictures.

(Words of advice from an old guy.)
Condolences on any hopes of ever having "enough" money in the bank ...
You'll never look at empty shelf space the same way again ...
You will spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about dusting ...
... and fingerprints ...
The sight of a delivery van / truck out in front of your home will raise your blood pressure to scary new heights ...

It is a wonderful hobby ...
Beware the side effects ...

Buddy

PS ... Where else could you post pictures of an unopened postal package ... or a opened box of packing noodles ... And get positive responses ?? ...

Haha! I know what you mean when addictions set in with a hobby. But what is great with this particular hobby is that even though you spend inordinate amounts of money, you get to see, admire and hold great things of beauty that will last for more than a lifetime.

I came from RC helicopters doing aerobatics (what they call 3D flying) and it was a painful hobby since crashing was a matter of "when, not if." I spent more in crash parts for 1 mishap on one of my 700 size rc choppers than I did for this beautiful 747. Couldn't be happier to have found this hobby.

Congrats! Welcome to the hobby! I myself skipped the B747, but I have the A340 and B777, as these are the planes that fly to my home city in Vancouver.

Check out hobbiestock in Manila they have a lot of 1:200 models. Also join fildac on Facebook

Uh, yea I already bought the Gemini 200 777 and A340 from hobbiestock. I don't want people to know how badly bitten I am by the diecast hobby haha!

Hobbiestock also has an Inflight DC-10 with the "Viva Il Papa!" Livery. Thinking if I should get it for the sake of its collectibility: only 30 made. However, I'm not too fond of DC-10's.
