Default Do you own models of aircraft you have flown on?

How many of the collectors have models of aircraft you have flown on? Specifically exact tail numbers! I personally own at least two:
Gemini200 American A319, N8001N, I have actually flown on this exact airplane twice, on two separate trips, both of those between Cleveland and Dallas.
The other is Gemini200 American Eagle CRJ-700, N505AE, between Chicago and Cleveland.

I say 'at least' because I have not been able to keep track of all the registrations of the aircraft I have been on, sadly. I may have also flown on American Eagle ERJ-175 N401YX, and American MD-82 N488AA, but I have no way of being sure.

Who else has a similar collection?

This is one of my collecting criteria, and I have at least 12 exact matches between the aircraft I've flown, and the registration number on the model. I collect 1:400.

If you know the day and flight number of your flights on American (especially the mainline flights), you can look up the N-number of the plane pretty easily. If you don't know how, ask, and I'll (or somebody else) will post instructions on using the government database.

I have a small number i have flown on. I have often thought whether to start collecting them as a challenge.

So far I have managed to fly on and collect:

WestJet 737-700WL C-GJWT (recently released by Gemini200)
Regina YQR to Calgary YYC

Air Transat A310 C-GVAT (released by Gemini Jets in 1/400)
Toronto YYZ to Manchester MAN

Qatar Airways A330-200 A7-ACJ (released by Dragon 1/400)
Frankfurt FRA to Doha DOH

KLM F70 PH-WXD (released by Gemini Jets 1/400)
Amsterdam AMS to Birmingham BHX

My Dad works for American, so I usually just have him look it up for me if I can't catch it through the AA system. Usually I'll just try and take a photo of the nose gear doors and get the code from there, and match it with an N-number when time allows. Sometimes it's just a matter of having a tight connection and missing the reg. because of time.

One of my favorite ways of checking (specifically at DFW) is to board the skylink, find my gate and aircraft I just got off, and have a great view!

I do not know how to use the government database though, and I never really considered it as an option of checking. instructions would be great!

Here's the link to find tail numbers: BTS | Airline On-Time Statistics

This is also my number one criteria. I have a bunch of plane and livery combinations I've flown on but only have one with the correct reg (though with a different livery). I have Phoenix's US Airways 737-400 release in the 1997 livery and flew on it from PIT to CLT in 2011. At that time though it was in the new colors.

This is an interesting topic.... I just uploaded two photographs from Tuesday to photobucket and was trying to figure out how to share them.

N408HC is one that I have from gemini.... Flew this on 2-17-15 from KOA to OGG.

Later that day.... N581HA from OGG to OAK. Two models in one day.... what a treat! Going back in April and am trying to get an A330, but prefer to fly out of SMF and they only use 767.

Feel pretty lucky to have flown on both of these in the same day (with correct registration numbers) There a a couple of other Airlines that I have hit the correct registration numbers like SW and Frontier, but it is a very rare event.

I have a lot of aircraft type and airline that I have flown on in my collection, but I haven't kept track of the specific registration numbers so I don't know if they are models of the specific aircraft that I flew on or not.

Airline and type are good enough for me.

I know every single plane I've ever been on, 21 of them (relatively few compared to many people), and none of the exact registrations have ever been made in 1/200 scale, 3 in 1/400 scale. I do have some representative planes though for 1/200 scale. Nearly all have been made in 1/400 and I own most thus far. I plan on getting a representative one of each plane, for each scale. -

I've been on:
  • USAir B762 (2) N654US and N645US. N645US was made in 1/400. No USAir B762 in 1/200 scale, in the chrome USAir livery, besides the one without landing gear.
  • Delta B752 (1) N687DL. I will be getting the 1/200 GJ re-release from this month.
  • Delta MD-88 (3) N950DL (Deltaflot), N904DL, N941DL. I am looking for both liveries of GJ. N904DL was made in 1/400 scale, in Widget livery. I flew on it in the current livery.
  • American MD-82 (2) N475AA, N583AA. I am looking for the GJ.
  • United E170 (1) N643RW. I own the GJ.
  • United B737 (1) N27733. I am looking for the IF/AV200.
  • USAirways E170 (2) N820MD, N803MD. N803MD was made in 1/400. No USAir E170 in white livery in 1/200.
  • USAirways E175 (2) N118HQ, N133HQ. No USAir E175 in white livery in 1/200.
  • Frontier A320 (2) N220FR, N221FR. Frontier A320 not yet made in 1/200.
  • United B738 (1) N78509. I am looking for the Hogan.
  • Delta A320 (1) N349NW. Delta A320 not yet made in 1/200.
  • Delta B763 (2) N124DL, N129DL. I just bought the GJ.
  • Delta MD-90 (1) N930DN. I just bought the GJ.

Having flown a plane is my only criteria (apart from it being proper scale and not a crappy mould). So far the only exact reg. I've been able to get is Biman's retirement-flight DC-10, S2-ACR. An outside chance exists that I got my exact TWA 767, but the BTA website doesn't have international flights, so I may never know.

Snagging a logo-jet would be a good way to get some others, but after over 100 flights the best I can do is a pink-ribbon ERJ on Eagle. Most of the planes I'm looking for haven't even been made in 1:200 yet.

That is my sole objective...planes I have flown. A couple of hundred in the collection so far.

I have around 80 being made and customized (registration changed) at the moment. I'm hoping to have them shortly.

The only one I have is the Herpa 744 D-ABVC (Modell Edition). Flew twice on it, LAX-FRA in 1995 and FRA-PEK in 2008.

I'm in an enviable position, as I do research for certain diecast manufacturers.
When they want to make a type I've flown on, I make sure the livery and reg is the actual one I've flown on whenever possible.

Wow, two reg-matches in one day - that's really lucky. I've had two matches on the same trip, but I don't think I've had two in the same day. That's a fun little coincidence.

I get conflicted when I get a registration number match, but the livery has changed. Happened to me recently where I flew on United, and Gemini had released a model of that aircraft, but as Continental. I decided it didn't really count, so I didn't buy.

Anyone fly a plane that they already owned as a model? In other words doing it in reverse?

I have two themes in my 1/200 collection - Northern Canadian Airlines, and aircraft I have serviced or flown on. I work as a ground handler at YVR and I've collected a small number of aircraft that I have marshalled, loaded, unloaded and/or pushed.

Gemini 200 United A319 N848UA
Gemini 200 United "A320 Friend Ship" N475UA
Aviation 200 Continental Airlines "Blue Skyway" B737-900 N75436
Gemini 200 U.S. Airways A319 "Arizona Cardinals" N837AW
Gemini 200 U.S. Airways A319 "Nevada Battle Born" N822AW
Herpa Air North B737-500 C-GANH (1/180 Snap-Fit Plastic)

I also have the Gemini 200 U.S. Airways Express CRJ-900 N912FJ. I haven't yet worked on this jet, but I work on this type almost every day. There's a good chance I'll work on it sometime soon. I need Gemini's United Express CRJ-700 N730SK in my collection. I've worked on it in the post-merger livery, but I have also worked on Blue Tulip CRJs. It needs to be part of my collection.

So far, no exact registrations that I have flown on, at least since I started keeping track, have been produced aside from Herpa's Air North 1/180 737-500. Unfortunately, I don't know the registrations of the planes I flew on with CP Air, Wardair, Air Transat, Skyservice, Jetsgo, etc. in my younger years.

I have 2 that fall under this category, Both BA. G-STBA (777-300) and G-ZBJA (787).

Other than that, I have a couple of dozen that I have flown on, and many that match the plane, but where I did not record the reg.

Never got to fly on a Concorde but I have walked through 3. Do they count?

This is how I started collecting but it has of course expanded from there. Seven 1:200s and ten 1:400s in my collection are the exact match - colour scheme and reg - to aircraft I've flown in. Numerous others in both scales are in the correct colours but have a different reg or were flown on before I started recording the reg.
