When the MD-11 was delivered back in the early nineties I found it to be strange that they spaced the letters in the American to look like this.... A m e r i c a n....I know why they did it but it just didn't look like a good fit with the rest of the American fleet. I never really liked the look...at this point I'm perfectly happy with my inflight 200 dc-10 american polished, a far more superior and accurate model look and feel.

Why did they space the letters as so?

just curious...

Yeah, I'm just fine with my AA Tenner. I never really warmed to the MD-11. It looks like a stretch limousine. Nothing wrong with that, but I always preferred the shorter look of the DC-10. Still a good looking model though. Oh, and the grey tail is rather blah. That said, I am glad that we have this model available to us from Gemini. It's a nice mould and I hope to see more variations.

Beautiful model that MD11 and can't wait to receive mine!!It Will be seated next to the InFlight DC10, which in my opinion, by judging what I've seen in pictures, the InFlight DC looks better than this MD11 released by Gemini.

Hmm...I had never noticed that before about the spelling of American on the MD-11. I'm curious too...what's the reason?

Doesn't look like ANY of the criticisms/inaccuracies that were brought up from the sample were corrected. The low cheatlines and pax windows are particularly troubling.

Wonder why. There should have been plenty of time to make the corrections. Most of them were just varying the paint masks a little bit.

I'm from Malaysia which is part of Asia. So sometimes we get model faster.

My guess is to maintain proportion. Since the fuselage was stretched, the kerning of the letters was increased to make it visually pleasing and uniform. In other words, if the word American was left alone, it would look too small against the long fuselage.

I always wondered the same about the spacing on the titles... Perhaps they would apply this concept with their 777-300!

Nice MD11 Raymond, I am waiting for mine to land to complete my strong classic now AA fleet. Looks much better than the looser HobbyMaster AA MD11.

Regards Modestos

I don't get it, what's wrong with the cheatlines? According to this picture, it is right where it should be Photo: N1756 (CN: 48419) American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11 by David Oates Photoid: 7736248 - JetPhotos.Net

^^^ I agree. Compared to the real aircraft the Gemini AA MD11 cheat line seems to be positioned very accurately.
Don't forget, guys on this forum will find things that aren't wrong and whine about them ;-)

Pffff... don't know what to do with the gj AA MD-11... Nice but not the best livery for a MD-11..

These look nice. Like some of the posters above I think I'm going to wait on the Delta widget version. American is in my collecting criteria, but I don't have as much connection with that particular aircraft. I wish I had the budget to be able to snag pretty much every release, but alas choices must be made.
