Just amazing. I'd love to see some photos showing the outside of the hanger, how you did the lighting, etc. Does the hanger come apart for storage? What is it made of?

I like the use of different scale people to dictate perspective.
The hangar as I said before is beautiful.....

Truly a beautiful hangar, thanks for sharing.
I would like to offer one very small criticism and that is that the U.S. flag is hanging backwards. The union (stars) should be to the observer's left.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! I really appreciate them and am glad you enjoyed your virtual tour of my big little hangar.

In answer to questions about the hangar's construction, the hangar is scratch-built using a variety of materials, including Plastruct parts (beams, girders, and trusses) available from many hobby and model railroad stores. The walls are made of plastic sheeting called Coroplast (available from Home Depot). I thought about going with N-scale gantry cranes, but they are difficult to find so I decided to build my own after a few unsuccessful eBay bidding attempts. The actual crane hooks are from N-scale railroad crane cars, but real crane hooks can be so big that they could pass for 1:200. The entire set-up is made up of sections that can be disassembled for easy storage. When I get a chance, I'll shoot and post photos of the hangar's exterior.

The whole project took a couple of months, mainly because I built it during weekends. The GSE, scaffolding, and other bits of scenery are from various sources. The camera crew figures are made by Preiser and are actually 1:87 scale. The photo technique is called "forced perspective." The other figures are 1:200, again made by Preiser.

The camera I use is a Canon EOS 6D with a 24-105mm lens. The whole hangar was primarily inspired by a real FedEx hangar and the Lufthansa Technik hangar in Frankfurt (which was also reproduced for Knuffingen).

Thanks for pointing that out, Dooltd. I have notified Facilities.

Alpha, thanks for the info. Can tell you put alot of time and effort into the hangar to make it look fantastic. Also a great place to show and take pictures of your models. Nice of you too share the components that make this so realistic. Thanks again.

I know I've said it before, but Alpha, your talent for creating these visual set ups is unbelievable. Keep up the good work. Your "hangar series" are some of the best pictures on this forum.

They are amazingly detailed for their size.
