Used part being assembled on the IF200 Eastern L-1011
I am a big fan for US aircrafts and of course I have ordered the IF200 Eastern L-1011. During inspection, the bottom of the left wing shows "VR-HOB", telling me that it is an old wing from last month's Cathay Pacific release.
Frankly speaking I don't mind IF using an used or old wing as long as the wing is in good condition. But next time please do it in a cleverer way : clear the Reg before using it...

They shouldn't have done it that way...but still other than that, the release looks soo good! Personally, I don't have an issue with that since you really have to look for it to see it or at least that's what it looks like to me.

I cannot speak for any other fellow collectors but I have waited for this release for years and though I already have the "painted silver" one, this one is my second holy grail. (my 1st. was the Herpa Premium AA A300) so, I'm anxiously awaiting for mine to arrive.

yep, just checked mine...they are "clean" sort of speak !
but...what a coincidence, two well known members with the same problematic model...its a small world...looking forward to other members posts showing the same problem..if thats a problem at all
pathetic !

Re: Used part being assembled on the IF200 Eastern L-1011
I'm not so much bothered by the recycling of used parts... an original "Eastern" wing isn't any more valuable than a rebranded Cathay wing. I'm starting to have issues with the quality of some of the models.
I have a couple that are quite old, and although being second or third hand, and more than likely handled and displayed, they are solid. I recently picked up this polished Eastern, and the polished Eastern/Air Canada tristar, and both came with landing gear issues. The Eastern model's nose gear is non-steering (which I don't care about), but it came detached and dangling from the nose wheel doors. I had to re-glue it in. The main gear were also mangled. I had to perform an alignment on them so that all wheels were in contact with the table. The Air Canada/Eastern model came with the nose gear sheared off completely. Destroyed. Also, the stabilizers are loose.
At this price point, I would expect that two nearly identical models, produced at the same time would have the same parts, and be assembled with adhesives that would at least outlast the journey to my door. The fact that the registration on the Air Canada model is inaccurate is also a bit of a piss off. I'm starting to wonder about my pre-orders that have yet to arrive.

I own the original IF200 Eastern Whisperliner, with the white top. Its front gear is quite fragile, and does not steer properly. Luckily, it hasn't broken off. I am very careful with this model, and try to avoid moving it at all. Which only goes to show that some L-1011 models, regardless of their age, have landing gear issues.

It looks like a great model!
I saw a photo of the same model but with Air Canada titles....is that being released too? Maybe I missed it.
Yes it is a beautiful model. I like the polished fuselage. I have been waiting this model for 3 years since I watched Air Crash Investigation Eastern Flight 401. I didn't try to "find" a problem but the fact is .... the Cathay Pacific Reg is quite noticeable when you turn over and see the bottom of the plane.
For some members... please relax. I am sharing this problem as a "special discovery" rather than seriously blaming IF200.

It's IF200 consolation to those who miss VR-HOE It's not unusually for IF200 to recycle unsold or old items; and remain unwanted stains. They have never improved. No one tells them or they don't listen?
