Default What do you think about this 744 KL....??

Hi all,
yesterday I receive a model (inflight200 744KL) ordered before Christmas from reilable UK seller on ebay and I had bad surprise...
Front and main gear damages, but the most orrible things is the upper antenna; no antenna inside the box and there is a big hole on the top at the same point of the antenna. like if somebody has try to repair it.
Does anybody know if it is right hole for antenna from the factory???
What's the best thing to do up to you???

Grab those same photos you've posted here, attach them to an email and send them to whom may have sold you this model, asking for a replacement.
Thats what Id do.

Unfortunately, there is something to learn from this : Never buy on ebay.

I sincerely hope an agreement will be found.

Jean Pierre is right, if buying from ebay, as reliable as that seller may be, ask for pictures like those you've shown here, so you know what you're buying!

I've bought hundreds of items on eBay (many, many die cast models included) and have only had two negative experiences (only one involving a model), both resolved in my favour.

If you have decided to avoid eBay, that is your choice. But I think you are giving the OP bad advice.

Had the parcel been inspected by custom or alike? I don't think that the seller would send it out if he knew.

I've received models with wheels like that, usually easy to just bend back into place. The antenna.....another story. I'd seek a replacement.

I hope the seller will take the model back and give you a full refund. That's what a reliable seller must do imho.

I can understand the bent landing gear and missing wheels. Understand but not forgive. The 747's are heavy models that can shift in the box during shipping, and the factories are not using enough glue to put the models together in the first place. As mentioned, the nose gear can be bent back and the mains repaired if you have the parts, but the gouge left by the horribly executed antenna repair attempt makes repair moot. The model needs to be replaced.

I would return the model for a replacement or refund. The shipping of the new model should be the dealer's cost also. I would also ask for a return shipping label for the damaged model that you have, although the seller I don't think is required to provide one. But I would ask anyway.

If the dealer won't replace or refund, I would file a claim with eBay and if you used PayPal, with them too. Remember there is a time limit to file claims, so don't wait. I would also leave negative feedback with eBay detailing your situation. If the dealer is honest, he will correct the mistake. If not, other people need to be warned so this doesn't happen them also.

Do you want a picture of just the antenna? Or the hole where the antenna goes into? Or both?

If you do decide to keep it: I do have several complete sets of replacements wheels for the 747 - they are from the initial mold so they look a bit better (all silver, not the horrible grey-ish looking ones they use now). I'll be happy to send you a full set for free, just pay for shipping (which shouldn't be a lot...I am in North America). BUT, I'm not 100% sure if the parts from the old model are fully interchangeable with the new ones. Message me if you're interested.

Best of luck...

You definitely have a case for a claim, if you bought the model and condition was 'new' then you can claim your money back without any issues. As mentioned though, the quicker you act, the better.

Milan747, by seeing your photos, it looks like a drilled hole filled up with some wool materials, isn't it? The antenna hole is as small as a pin. Missing antenna do happen. It's strange.

When I ordered mine, the antenna had come off but was loose in the box, so reattachment was straight forward. I also got the freighter and she was missing the rear antenna but this was not in the box. I wrote off to Inflight and they sent me a couple of spares. In either case though there was no damage to the model. I've never seen anything like that damage, this looks definitely more than just 'shipping damage' and looks more like a real botch job...did you get any luck from the seller/ebay yet?

People still use Ebay?! Unless you want to pay $89 dollars for a used item that sells new for $69.95 there is no point in going on there.

My KLM Cargo just arrived. Paint is perfect, and landing gear is undamaged (big relief). However, neither top antenna are present, and not loose in the box. The holes in the fuselage are fine (so the antennas didn't break off). I have written to IF to ask about replacement antennas.

Well, now I'm concerned about this antenna issue. Expecting to receive my IF KLM 744 sometime next week without any damage...
Bought it at eztoys.com and I've never received a model with damage from them.

Crossing fingers.

....I have had models come through with bent gear and missing antennae so I understand the frustration....that hole certainly is a very bad attempt at repair....

...does anyone have a contact name/address/email as to where I can get spare antennae for my models (also includes the B747 wing antennae)? ......some are B747's while I have two L-1011s, a DC-10, two B777s, a B757, a B727 and an A320 that need antennae (some on top and some underneath)......do antennae come in just one size? Are they available from only one manufacturer? (IF or JCW or Gemini or AV200)....who supplies these?....anyone? .....

....for the record Bundy is a very good seller as I have bought off him on many occasions .....

Hi Milan747: You are welcome. I hope you can settle this transaction well with the seller.
Hi jsjscd9a: I have the same situation as you encountered. I ever wrote to GeminiJets to query whether it's possible to buy some spare antennas and red beacon lights but got no response. It seems some retailers have these spare parts but they're not willing to sell them.

Just heard from IF200, they are sending a replacement antenna via post.

Great customer service! Besides the fact I love their models, this is another reason why I keep buying their product.

707 antenna?

edit: oh I see your earlier post now. Maybe I need to email IF200 as I have quite a few models missing small parts.

Ebay can be very hit or miss, but aside from this forum and a few others, there is no other place to find highly sought models that aren't available at retail. I agree with whoever said that telling people to stay away from ebay was bad advice. It is. The dispute process is so ridiculously slanted in favor of the buyer, it's extremely difficult to get screwed over.

A few pointers: there is no such thing as "no returns" on ebay. Even if a seller has a "no returns" policy, ebay and paypal have your back. You have 45 days...correction, its actually 180 days now...to file a Buyer Protection dispute with Paypal and you will win 99% of the time as long as you stay within the rules and don't try to work the system. Sellers who refuse to take returns are starting to learn that not taking them could lead to losing the sale cost, original shipping and the item.

If you do have a problem, like the OP, you need to contact the seller immediately. Negative feedback and low DSR stars are an absolute last resort when there is no communication after more than a week. When you contact the seller, use the "other" option because "item not as described" and "item not received" will automatically give the seller a defect for the transaction. That being the case, they will be in no position to provide any service at all. They will have been punished by ebay already so there is no reason to help you.

In this case, I would have contacted the seller with "other" and requested an exchange or return for refund+shipping. Any honest seller would agree. He would not get a defect and the buyer would get what they paid for or at least a full refund. That's how it should work!

I now have my KLM pax 747. No issues other than a slightly bent nose gear that was probably damaged during shipping and bent easily back into position.

I have bought several models on eBay and only had issue with one of them. I contacted the seller and he responded within an hour. He offered a partial refund and I accepted. The model was easily repairable and I think we were both happy with the outcome. I would still rate this seller very high. This is the way it is supposed to work.

I thinksome times, particularly in the case of 'virtual hobby stores', the seller is acting as a front man for another seller. Sometimes he may not be aware of a defect. Not really a problem if he stands behind the sale. But HE is the one who needs to stand behind any sales that he makes.

An envelope arrived today from Hong Kong, containing two antennas. I've just added them to my KLM Cargo, which is now perfect. IF200 customer service is top notch!

Unfortunately, the return cost of the damaged model is almost always paid by the buyer, per PayPal policy.

That is the down side of returns. You are still out the cost of the return shipping.

I've also had the cost of the return shipping refunded by the buyer, but he doesn't have to. It never hurts to ask, but if they say no there is nothing that you can do about it. I've also refunded the cost of return shipping for a model that had an issue that I didn't notice before I shipped. But then I could see and confirm the defect on pics that I took before shipping.
