Obviously it is not a standard release. Why do you think JC has "finally released" it ?

the samples do not have antennas, its a good way to tell it apart from the Herpa..it makes it unique..but I wish it had them.

Kitty Hawk 1903 Yes I bought that Expo new way back when it was first introduced,,it was the only production model to escape the dreaded yellowing as the packing process and curing of the foam insert was corrected by then

Any guesses as to when this will be a regular release in the future (and for far less money)?

A year or two is my thought.

As with 99% of samples i am sure this will be released at some point in time. Maybe when we see the samples being sold for less $$ then we are getting close to the release date
Great mold and model guys. Let's get some other liveries out there CX

I can't imagine this is true. I think JC Willy promised a 747-8 was on the way, but I can't find the post.

In any case, 10 models at even $600 (total $6,000) doesn't even begin to pay for a new mold. Not sure what the cost to develop an new die cast mold is, but I bet it is north of $100,000. The last time I heard a number, it was $50,000-$60,000 in the 1980's.

Of course JC is going to release many different liveries using the 747-8 mould to cover the initial investment cost. But they didn't say the Sunrise House Color Boeing 747-8 will become a standard release.

If it actually flies I woud buy it. As a static model it"s not even ok. No antenna, no flaps or slats and can't see gear to determine if it's correct. Also not really detailed. Anybody in my opinion who would purchase this model would also buy the Brooklyn Bridge. Hopefully the finished product price drops dramatically and the detail rises dramatically if not they can put this release where the sun never shines. I love models and so do you guy's so do not endorse this product as it is. Feedback is welcome as I have not posted before.

Actually, if I remember correctly, that was going to be the first regular release (with antennas and beacons) that they did: Both the Sunrise and the regular Blue Boeing Worldliner livery.

But time will tell.

Hopefully the right thing will be done Charlie. I forgot the beacons thanx for reminding me. Some of you guy's are collectors that buy to sell for a profit but most of us I imagine buy to admire our models and love them. I understand that the manufacturers can't possibly duplicate the models to look exactly like the real aircraft but they can come closer than the way they are produced. Example, I don't like Inflight as the wing to fuselage joint is terrible especially on their 707's. I realize that these things are just models and I can deal with some inconsistencies but at least they can come closer than they do. All some of these companies need to do is look at pictures (Not Prints) and they can release much better products. I guess this must be hard to do but why. Pictures look the same in China as they do in the USA. Go figure.

I think the nose looks a bit funny, and the engines look pretty cheap and badly shaped. I hope they work on this model before releasing the Lufty livery.

I have been told that this model will not be released in numbers. However that could change in time. If someone can afford it then absolutely. its always a gamble, I sold my Inflight Pan Am Billboard 747 last month for over $1,000.00 and whose to say it wont be rereleased too..Id be hard pressed to say no if someone offered me big bucks for my sample too!

I am also told that this model will not be a standard release. If I am not preparing money for the coming JC releases, I would really consider making an offer in the listing.
