GJ200 Please Upgrade Quality!!

Is it me or are GJ200 models getting worse? The gear imprints have no details at all, the moulds are not changing, and they are not listening to customers!!

Example:
-Nose gear and door still oversized
-Trent engine still has wrong overall shape
-Gear sets should be set more apart (this shape: |--| vs |-| (when looking face on to aircraft)
https://www.aviation-center-berlin.d...38/iofzgLu.jpg

-Nose gear door and nose shape are terrible looking
-Wings seem to be way too high
https://www.aviation-center-berlin.d...12/ip1UNiM.jpg

-Please just send everyone a replacement engine cowling ring that looks decent, or a brand new tail engine to replace...
https://www.aviation-center-berlin.d...p8/iHS1NAK.jpg

Very disappointing lack of quality and care towards models :(

Re: GJ200 Please Upgrade Quality!!

What's sad is that when Gemini first launched their 1:200 737s, the nose shape was spot on. One of the most accurate 1:200 noses of any aircraft, any mould, ever. This lasted for the first dozen releases or so, then sometime in 2009, strangely changed to a much less accurate shape. I still recall discussions on the matter, and laughably absurd claims from Gemini representatives that it was all an "optical illusion" from certain paint schemes, or simply a handful of flukes due to "overzealous polishing" during the finishing process. I still roll my eyes at that one, lol.

Exactly, same with the 757 mould, those were fantastic.

I wasn't aware the 757 mould has changed/degraded (although I'm not surprised, as I understand diecast moulds have a limited lifespan, and the 757 is one of GJ's oldest). I haven't bought a new-release 757 in a couple years though. Have any comparison pics?

Check out the 2nd release of the Delta 757, it's ugly!

Yeah and can they stop knocking the models about and chipping the wings and using too much glue on the engine pylon that it spills out over the engine

Oh and answer your customers emails would be a good start as well

I finally realized that there was a significant difference in quality, but I can't find the first release anywhere now. I fear that I may have to get the second

As for the A330/A340.....ehhh that nose gear makes it look like a bit of a toy. Sad to say because there's so much potential for a nicely detailed A330/A340. I like Hogan's but it lacks some details and Herpa's current version......well it's really bad in my opinion.

You know what's funny? All the Gemini Jets, JC Wings and IF200 models are made in the same factory by the same workers - JC's factory.

Funny that since Gemini and IF200 moved their production to this location the quality has dropped...

I agree on the 737 - nose is too "aerodynamic" now... never mind that wing flex.

The newer 757s seem to have a pointier nose and those wheel hubs...

i agree with all of you , and if any body has paid attention to one thing which is very important and some time we let it go or dont even notice is that the ''cockpit windows positioning''.If you see them from front closely you will notice that from one side they are upside and from other side they are downside .i am unable to understand that why cant they even make their cockpit windows straight and align enough . This issue needs an attention too .Regards !

This is a sanity check, you have crossed the line & likely need to re evaluate the relationship you have w/ the models. This meaning so much to you can not be healthy.... i don't even know what an engine cowling ring is!

Man I'm so disappointed about the Air Canada A330 :( I haven't received mine yet but the release photo from GJ made it look really really nice... Definitely happy I didn't order the Westjet, it looks terrible.

It hasn't been updated on the site where the pictures were posted from as yet.

JCWings is better than Gemini imo, same moulds and stuff but more care.

I feel like I should cancel my pre-order on the 737, I really want a WJ 737, but with such wings, dunno.

what people havent realized yet is that GEMINIJETS=JCWINGS !
And people like JCs releases, so why complaining about these "new" GJ releases!?
Optical illusion my hat, those noses look awful !!!!
Crappy landing gears, too...instead of improving, they are just going the
opposite way...its been discussed before.
Having said that, Mr.Klein, whn are you going to release more of those mighty fine Constellations, and Electras...so much more stuff to do, we are here waiting, please ;)
oh well.

I think it is not all about GJ's quality, it is about the product is "Made in China". Please tell me when I get it wrong. Thanks!

Re: GJ200 Please Upgrade Quality!!

All the previous releases were also "made in China" and you have some very fine models !
gradually, though, they seem to have lost quality and details...:(

Well the A330 looks good IMO, probably that picture is not the best

MarkMcG 09-24-2014 01:36 PM

Re: GJ200 Please Upgrade Quality!!

The manufacturers add features like moving wheels and spinning fan blades as that is what is perceived to be wanted by the customer.

However I think that this in part leads to the loss of detail in these parts, as they have to be made somewhat more simplistic to allow for these features. Similar with the removable gear sets etc.

It would be good however if you could have the option of a more detailed set of wheels and undercarriage without these features, even maybe more detailed engines out of cast resin etc.

Re: GJ200 Please Upgrade Quality!!

As we all know that Herpa Premium and Lufthansa Modell Edition series is the most expensive model in 1:200 scale, however, it sold out for a long time ago and still are the most sought after model since it has already been released for more than decades.
For serious collector quality is everything, however, chinese worker ruin the GJ design...

Those wings look AWFUL!! Plus, the lighter blue used on the logo and tail is completely wrong. Should be more of a turquoise/teal colour:

Wings aside...I think it is just the photos that i posted that makes the colour look off. The colour looks slightly better on Jan's link here: GeminiJets G2WJA233 - 737-700 Diecast Model, WestJet Airlines, C-GWJT: The Flying Mule

According to this site Boeing 737 Advanced Blended Winglets the height from the ground to the top of the winglet should be 21ft 1in. How does this compare with the 737-700 mould?

JC Wings too. Went to look at a gorgeous Varig MD-11 the other day that we wanted only to have the engine fall off in our hand. We did not purchase it after that

The Flying Mule pics don't look quite right either. It should have more of a greenish-hue in the tail. The biggest offence is definitely the wing angle though.

I like that they chose C-GWJT. The original C-GWJT, a B737-200, was donated to BCIT at the end of its service career:

The wings bend easily. If you apply the right amount of pressure, you can angle them however you want. Done it with many gj200 models.

My left wing was much higher than the right one. I had to fix that and it looks fine now.
Apart from that, the nose gear is super loose, and the gear bay doors stick out a bit, making that nose section kinda of ugly.

Glad you managed to fix it okay. My nose gear seems quite firmly stuck in but the turning wheel is a bit flimsy. Will display it in the cabinet with turning wheel I think anyway.

Happy overall though :)

Next mission....got to hunt down the GJ's WJ 737-800WL (C-GZWS)
