Simply amazing. Is there any way you can "decorate" the back (so to speak) with more hanger accessories? Trucks, lifts, the like? You could make this an even more excellent diorama if this is the case.

That is beautiful work and amazing photography. Was this built completely from scratch (I assume some of it was) or were some of the parts from kits? Specifically I wonder about the gantry cranes. Did they perhaps come from model railroading? Again, just wonderful work. It could be a display in a museum.

Wondering if it's a modified N-scale RR kit. N-scale is typically 1:160

Now that is beautiful - and it shows that you know a lot about photography! First rule: Turn off that flash and get to know how time- and aperture-settings interact. Great work!

Wow, thanks for all the nice comments, everyone! They mean a lot coming from my fellow collectors.

In answer to your questions, the hangar is scratch-built using a variety of materials, including Plastruct parts (beams, girders, and trusses). The walls are made of plastic sheeting called Coroplast. I thought about going with N-scale gantry cranes, but they are difficult to find so I decided to build my own after a few unsuccessful eBay bidding attempts. The actual crane hooks are from N-scale railroad crane cars, but real crane hooks can be so big that they could pass for 1:200.

The whole project took a couple of months, mainly because I built it during weekends in my living room. The GSE, scaffolding, and other bits of scenery are from various sources. I was pleased to find the forklift. It's billed as N scale, but it's so small that, like the hooks, it could pass for 1:200. (There is a surprising amount of size variation in what is considered "N scale.")

The camera I use is a Canon EOS 6D with a 24-105mm lens. The whole hangar was primarily inspired by a real FedEx hangar and the Lufthansa Technik hangar in Frankfurt (which was also reproduced for Knuffingen).

Thanks again for your comments!

Cheers,
AB

Nicely done. Plastruct/EMA has a lots of models and engineering parts. We use some of them for our architectural & engineering models.

N scale models can easily pass on for 1:200 diorama as I always believe not all too scale parts make a superd and beautiful diorama.

As long as you love it the best.
