On which mould is this made? I like the idea, but will reserve judgement for the real model, and not some profile drawing.

Oh! Inflight mold comes with a big seam to the wings. A no no for me. I wish it was a JC Wings.

There is only one 1/200 scale 737-100 (as far as I know - I could be wrong), and that is the IF200 one. Vector1 (Bob) on 400ScaleHangar informed me that new engines & pylons had been tooled up for 731 & 732 (basics)!!

Besides, the drawing above shows the modified engine anyway.

Not thrilled by the Inflight mould but if they did the solid blue tail LH* I would have to have a good think!

*which would not have needed a modified (retro) engine

Wow nice release, this one! Did not know that the first LH 737's had this livery?

I would like the solid blue tail too!!

All releases needed the new (old style narrow) pylon, and there are many possible releases that DO need the short JT8Ds with 727 style thrust reversers. The solid blue LH examples also flew for a while with the as delivered engine nacelles, so I guess it makes sense for IF200/BBOX to get as much use as possible for their (I would have thought minimal) investment. Maybe the long nacelle (bucket reverser) version will be released too under a different reg!!

And this is just the 100 series. All basic model 200s need the narrow pylon, and some examples also need the short JT8Ds too - such as launch customer United Airlines, Air California (black nose), and late 60s livery Britannia Airways. Of course these were later modified to long nacelles with bucket reversers.

Mark.

As far as I know only one or perhaps two aircraft displayed this livery on the assembly line and during flight-testing in 1967. Just before delivery to Lufthansa the design on the vertical stabilizer was changed to the way we still know it today. Apparently the Lufthansa board of directors voted for the new livery in order to have the complete Lufthansa-fleet ready in the new look before the Olympic Games in Munich 1972.

Shouldn't we warn bbox then that it would be better to bring the blue tail? They never flew passengers then in this livery, so not so interesting to many collectors..

I guess that for the sake of maximizing profit potential on the mould (including the new engine tooling), it is wise for them to release all or most of the liveries worn by the series 100.

Anyway, what doesn't interest one person may float another's boat - so to speak. Whats the saying - "one person's junk is another ones treasure"!!

I'm sure we will see the blue tail also - but after all, the announced model is not wearing some sort of fantasy-design... So I'm perfectly sure BBOX know what they are doing. Here's a picture of D-ABEA during assembly.

And here's D-ABEC during a test-flight.

I remember that Lufthansa aircraft were always immaculate, will this model have a polished belly ?

All in all, after seeing these photos, I think this livery will be very good, first livery of the first B 737 delivered to an airline.
Finally, a very good choice.

I can't see why it wouldn't have a polished belly - especially since all similar liveried current models get the polished treatment too (no more glitter paint).

Looks good, but I shall hold out for the solid blue tail. No-doubt die hard Lufthansa collectors will love this and want every variation of livery on every airframe - and why not?

It has a polished belly. I believe silver paint will become a thing in the past for all future releases of classic aircraft.

How about a side shot; withholding comments until I see a side shot.

I have my suspicions from these shots, but it could just the the angles.

Looks great - especially the new engine & pylon tooling!!

I do hope that the pylon isn't just restricted to the original short nacelle JT8Ds as 737-100/200 'basic' aircraft also had this pylon with the long nacelle JT8Ds too. Looking at it, it it does look like a one piece mould (engine & pylon), but I hope I'm wrong though.

Mark.

No, this is Inflight 200's 737-100 mould. What is new about this is the engines & pylons, thats all. It is actually this (narrower) pylon that those Pan Am 737-200s SHOULD have had as they were mean't to be 'basic' 200s. The 200 'Advanced' pylons was a deal killer for me - otherwise I would have bought one of the cheatline versions

This is why (although the IF200 mould is inferior) we do need those narrow pylons for long nacelle JT8Ds on 737-100/200 'basics'. I would happily take the IF200 mould if they can give us the correct engine/pylon configurations for a given series 100/200. If they don't, then it will continue to be a case of NO DEAL for me!!

As for this series 100 though, it looks FAB and I can't wait for the blue tail version!!

Nose looks quite good for an IF200-Mould, but I don't like the too narrow cheatline. Sadly, this happens some times. Even on the Retro-Paint Condor applied on that 767...

I must admit, I am liking this. I too would take a blue tail LH version. There are some great possibilities even for the -200 with short nacelles including Britannia, United, Western
and Pacific Western. Are there more?

I agree though that we need to see this pylon combined with the longer nacelles for all future B737-100 and early (non-Advanced) B737-200s.

Wow, nice model, a new retooled pylon for this mold. I find a little strange the engine exhausts but nevermind. I am waiting to see this babe with the blue tail.

I'm glad it's not the solid blue tail. There's to many of those solid blue tail models out there. Since this is the 100 series I think this classic livery is more appropriate especially with the polished belly. It's a fresh change. I'll give this one some serious thought.
