the great thing about plastic is that they look as nice as metal ones ,in a cabinet they look as great as metal sometimes you can't even tell any difference and also they don't take many space when in boxes and are quit cheap

Hogan and skymarks make great models

metal is great but too expensive for people (like me ) who loves aviation but have small budget.

+1, the thing i love about snap fit is you can store 4-5 boxes of 747s for the space of a diecast 747 box

You're preaching to the choir, but the diecast is almost always better looking at least for authenticity because they have the beacons, usually more detail (almost always except the wings) & antennae.

Skymarks are not great models, they are ok & much better than when they started! I remember having a Lufthansa A380 not in the DB at the time & it had horrible printing on it, the flight miniatures (FM) & wooster were far better printing & that's t saying a lot. Symarks are better than woosters & FM, but they almost always lack behind Herpa & Hogan falls in the middle.

e.g. Air canada Tango A320 from star jets or Schuco is better than the hogan
e.g. Starflyer a320 from JC wings is better than the Hogan
e.g. Ted a320 from GJ is better than Hogan

...wait a minute, I'm starting to see a trend

Default Some points of view

Nice models!!! I miss watching JAL's jumbo on approach to Mexico City. Since 2009 they are no longer fly to Mexico.

I have done some deals with Lok (Dynasty) too and he is a very reliable member. Fair prices and great shipping service. I wonder why he is not so active here on DA.C.

About resin/plastic, nowadays Hogan is the "best" option, then Herpa and finally Risesoon. Herpa has became very lazy with its new releases, they have dropped in quality and details. Since Herpa and Hogan split their ways, I think Hogan had a slighty raise while Herpa just stucked there. Herpa's newest mold are horrid with all due respect and it is incredible how they have dropped in quality. The A320 family models left so much to desire.

The last year I bought 4 models from the A320 family and ALL of them got cracked tires after few months of being purchased.
  • Etihad A320 F1 livery
  • Condor A320 Peanuts livery
  • Air France A319 present livery
  • Lufthansa A320 retro livery
OK, you can contact them and ask for spare parts. But my point is, what is point of buying models if will be worried about the degradation of some components? Am I supposed to ask every 6 months for tire replacements? Of course not.

That's why I stopped buying plastic models and this goes for Hogan too, sadly. I remember back at 2008, when Herpa was the best option because its details compared and nice packaging and less thing you can worry about was quality. But in these days those brands have gone of my sight.

There is a exception to that statement.

Well, surprisingly, the best models you can get in this scale and in this market are not metal diecast models. No sir, I can tell you Herpa Premium and Modell Editions series are from another league. Perhaps the only inconvenience about them are the yellowing issue, but leaving aside that note, they are the best and made of plastic.

So far I have 10 of those models and every time I watch at them I get surprised how detailed they are. Honestly, I have never seen anything like it, not in my short collector life. By the time Modell Editions were made I was only 3 or 4 years old, now that I am nearly 30, I can not believe no one has done an effort to match that level of detail/quality. Not even IF200 or Gemini.

Ok fellas, I will stop writting. Usually I don't post comments this long but today I wanted to express some points of view.

Greetings!!!

True, but they haven't been in production for many years.

First ,many thanks for deal with you( and Erik ). And I usually here but just take a look on your guys topics .

To Erik is Mexico's weather is dry so makes your model's tire cracked ? Because I also have some HE A320 ( non HG mould) but their tires don't have this issue.

Hi Lok:

Weather is tempered here at Mexico City, not dry (like northern states) nor humid (like southern states). Is like warm and hot during mornings to middle day and cold at nights after raining. Spring has started some weeks ago and at least 3 days a week we have rain at evenings or night. Perhaps they suffered stress due continuous changing temperature, is that possible?

It is curious because the frontal landing gear tires of my A320s are totally cracked at the point the broke and fall from the rim :S. I should be hunting for Hogan's old style landing gear (aluminum wheels). I will send you a message, hope you can help me to get some.

Greetings!!!
