Default JC Wings - Cathay Pacific B777-367er - AWC and family!

Greetings! My JC Wings Cathay Pacific Asia World City just touched down. Thought I would share some pics on the DAC with the rest of my CX fleet. I must say this model is a beauty! Also, be the judge for yourself on the GE-90 engines (they look pretty fine to me!). Thank you JC Wings! Cheers! T7 (I'll be posting a couple of more pics on this thread; hope you like them?)

Bonus = JC wings used the 'Soft' styrofoam for packaging the model. Much better than the usual hard styrofoam.

Word of caution for collectors who wish to display their model on the stand; I found that my model was not sitting flush/flat on the peg (see photo above).

Yes, I definitely need to setup my IKEA display cases this spring!

Hey T7,
A beautiful Cathay Pacific collection! I've been oggeling your photos for a while

Just love it! When you put the all together, I really enjoy seeing the differences between the type of aircraft.

Thanks for the pix. seeing these made me go ahead and pull the trigger on getting the CX 773, considering it doesn't fit my usual collecting criteria. glad I was able to order one as it disappeared but luckily re-appeared on eztoys website today.

Waiting for the model to arrive. Too, this model will be my 1st JC Wings; hopefully not the last one

Attached only to collect Gemini200's and trying to stick only to AA models.

What a "delicious" lineup of Cathays Mr. T7 . Beautiful pix! I will inspect my Cathay 777 AWC tonight and let you know. Sadly it's still sitting in its shipping box...just too much going on. Looking at your pictures vs. Marcuswong's original post of the model, I do see an obvious difference which is the compressed nose gear as opposed to the fully extended one. As for the engine it also appears more "rounded" thicker??? than in Marcus's pictures but would like to see the model myself first. All said it is indeed a gorgeous model. Thanks for the post.

Thank you, Bluemarlin. I am a fan of Cathay Pacific (flew on a couple of their planes in the past B777-300er, B747 and their A340s) and also have a family friend who works for them out of Hong Kong/Manila. You'll be mighty pleased with this model when it arrives at your door.

I was not going to start collecting CX at one point, but since I've flown with them for a few years = it met my new criteria for collecting. Yes, I hope my photos illustrate the magnificent work JC Wings did with the gear and the GE90 engines. Oh Yeah, I'm definitely on board with a T7-300er regular livery; I had the CX "One Worlds" in my hand at one point (sold all 3 last month), I only wanted to focus on the regular CX livery and any special paintjobs they had rolled out.

Cheers! T7

Thank you, sir! I have a soft spot for Cathay Pacific regular liveries and special schemes. That's cool that you are also onboard with CX models as part of your vast 1/200 collection. What?? How in the world did I miss the boat on the JC A340-200! I appreciate the reminder and will track one down in the coming months.

Thank you, Chris! I had to pick between CX and SIA for fleet building, and Cathay won me over (also, having flown on a few of these models = clinched it, ). That's why I sold my Singapore Tropical last year, and will let go of my T7 next week or so. Congrats to you on also ordering this fine model from our friends at JC Wings, you'll be quite pleased with the new improvements. Cheers! T7

I appreciate the kind words, turbulence! Glad you enjoy the pics, and since others have posted this model on it's own; thought it would be different to have this T7 amongst it's CX brothers and sisters.

Regards, T7

Glad I could convince you to jump off the fence and order this T7 beauty with the photos above. I know, I am with you on the doesn't fit my criteria, but it's so friggin cool that it has to join my 1/200 fleet (happened to me with the Virgin B747 Birthday gal, hee hee!). Cool EZtoys were able to come thru for you.

I've been guilty a few times of going out of my collecting criteria, but those models were too fine to pass up! hee hee! Trust me, you'll be quite happy and impressed with your first of many JC wings models; they've come a long way in improving their 1/200 moulds. I wish you the best of sticking only to AA models, but every collector has that little bug/infection to step outside at times to acquire other airlines that catches their eye/interest. It's tough to combat, but I've been good for a few months to keep that 'bug' at arms length! Cheers! T7

Yep, I do agree it's a tasty fleet and thank you for the compliments! Yes, I tried to show a different perspective of the model, based on the replies on Marcus's thread (some DAC collectors were still questioning the engines and gear) thought I could show that the improvements were done by JC Wings.

Thank you, Blue Angel No. 5! CX = thumbs up for me and fleet building, but I dropped the ball on JC Wings A340-200! Don't know how that flew under my radar? You will definitely like the revised engines on this T7 for sure.

Good start with the B747 and A340-200 (would u like to sell yours, hee hee! Just kidding, I'll pick one up the next month or so) The A340-600 is one long model, but it's not metal; it's made by Herpa and is plastic.

Beautiful collection. I have a very few Cathay models that I purchased during the last year, I have a growing interest in CX models but honestly I can't add another airline fleet to my collection. Have you ever consider to purchase the B747-8F Hong Kong Trader?

I am just so full of storage that I will be forced to sell some models in the next weeks, not exactly my Cathays but we will see.

Greetings!

Nice arrivals, thanks for sharing. Always excited to see another CX collectors. A nice representation of the current fleet.

Will you be getting the B742 Spirit of HK? That will be another must have for any CX collection.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!

My model came with the original extended nose gear. I thought ALL the production models were supposed to come with the new compressed nose gear.

I am in the process of trying to get a replacement nose gear, but no response yet.

Whay about everyone else? Which nose gear did YOUR model come with. Any contacts that may help me get a proper replacement?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Default i guess its the LUCK of the draw on which nose gear you get...

... I was going to ask the same question as another CX AWC 77W from the same dealer had the older EXTENDED nose gear but mine came with the newer COMPRESSED (like the new EK 77W from Gemini this month) one. Like mine very much and can't wait for JC Wings to do the newer "Spirit of Hong Kong" AND a regular colors.

Stunning collection. I love Cathay's scheme. One of my all time favorite regular liveries. My CP AWC 777 is currently in a box somewhere in between the Pacific Northwest and my house. Hoping it arrives soon. It will join the Hogan 747-200 Hong Kong skyline, Herpa 747-400 AWC, and Hogan 777-300 already in the collection. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, sir! Yes, ATC has put your CX bird on a definite holding pattern for now. Keep you updated on when ATC clears your bird in for a landing.

Thank you, and I know you also collect CX which I think every collector should have at least one Cathay model in their 1/200 fleet. Cheers! T7

well that 777awc is the 'odd one out' atm randy!! so you will just have to collect all the other special liveries if they bring them out!!

Hey Charlie Alpha, congrats on also adding this CX bird to your 1/200 fleet. Mine came with the compressed nose gear. Cheers! T7

Hi FlyingDream, thank you for the compliment. At one time I had acquired the CX B744 with the older livery (green stripes), but decided to only focus on current livery. So I exchanged the model at AV World for an AA bird. I really had to focus on specific collecting criteria with the several airlines fleets I am building. UA Battleship, AA polished, CX current livery.

Ha ha ha! For sure something in this CX fleet lineup seems out of place. Will take your advice and hunt down the other 'unique CX paint jobs' as they roll out of the JC Wings factory doors! Cheers! T7

Thank you much! I assure you that you'll be a happy camper when this AWC T7 arrives at your hangar. I was unaware that this CX T7 was no longer in stock?

It happens, but as we all have experienced in the 1/200 world = all collectors get lucky once in awhile and land that model they had 'snoozed on' later down the road. I have confidence that you will land this CX AWC T7 sooner than later!

Hi Marcus, my apologies for the late reply. I've been a little wrapped up in the 1:1 section with my 'Black Box' thread.

I appreciate the kind words on my current CX fleet. This was my first T7 I had purchased in awhile, due to my new collecting criteria. Big thank you for enlightening the DAC and myself on another 'green' T7 coming in for a future landing! Quite sure this future model you kindly speak of = will also blow the doors open for CX collector bank accounts, hee hee! Thank you again for the heads up! Cheers! T7

That sounds very promising... if its the current SOHK and we can create the line up in the pic that robertjon has posted, then that would be sweet
