Default Gemini UNITED 777-200 and JCWings KLM MD-11?

Out of curiosity: some people 'in-the-know' indicated in mid-2013 that the 1/200 die-cast market would see a 777 in the United 'Battleship' livery as well as another MD-11 KLM (in addition to the Hobby Master piece) quite soon.

Any words on these lately?

On another topic. I have seen that Gemini is going to (officially?) release a 747SP of the Las Vegas Sands Corp.! What about the licensing status? I remember Rod saying that it was unlikely Gemini could ever obtain a licence from the Sands Corp. (referring to collectors' requests for 1/200 L-1011 and 747SP models). Maybe, things have changed?!?

The Sands bird was recently done in 1:400 so no nissue with it being done in 1:200 i wouldnt have thought.

All signs point to JC releasing an MD11 before the summer but no confirmation that KLM would be the first release.

Nothing on the battleship 772 AFAIK.

KLM would be the hot seller in MD-11, I'm quite certain it will be the first one to be released. Seeing HE and HB have failed to create accurate replicas of it, I hope JC will succeed.

I do remember that jetboy787 mentioned a few months back on the DAC that the UA Battleship T7 (my userid pic) was going to be rolled out this year. If he is reading this thread, can you please confirm/verify. Thank you, T7

crownvic told me about 3 years ago that JC would be doing the MD 11. he doesn't know what the delay is as it should have out last year!! iirc at the time I asked for KLM 1st! then I think it was AA, then DELTA WIDGET or VARIG. for the first few to be done!!

3 years is a long time coming. Hopefully, JC Wings will have 'learned/took notice of defects' from other manufacturers that rolled out their versions of the MD-11 in the past.

I like robertjon5's list of airlines, I wouldn't mind if they rolled out the American MD-11 after the Delta or after the Varig, just to have a good little break after the IF200 AA DC-10. Cheers! T7 (hoping the KLM blue is the first MD-11 to be introduced to the DAC KLM collectors)

My suspicion is that they had everything near enough ready to go and then they saw the slaughtering the prototype drawings got on here/elsewhere re #2 engine inlet, nose, etc etc. I didnt think it looked that bad apart from the DC10 tail, but if you remember it got seriously hammered by the collectorate and some pretty negative things were said, comparing it to the HobbyMaster mould etc which hasnt sold well.

Then they realised it wouldnt sell in any numbers unless they did some major remedial work and so they have been tweaking it to make it right. Probably involved making some changes to the finished mould as well i'd have thought so it was always going to take time if that is what happened.

If that is the case then all plaudits to Johan for having the balls to do it right. If their recent 1:200 triumphs are anything to go by we'll end up getting a stunning model.

I've already decided i'm going to do "a Delta7-11" and collect every single one of the diecast MD11s.

The request for the 777 battleship was put into the works, however never really know how soon something will come out until its on the verge of being released. There are some sample models that have been waiting for 6 months while others have been out for a month and already about to be released. Hopefully we see both this year!

From a Battleship fleet collector - thank you for the latest update and some background fyi from operations.

I actually would prefer this G200 model to be released later this year, need to give the funds a little break. I don't mind keeping my Herpa version a bit longer. Cheers! T7
