Default What liveries would you like to see on Hobby Master's new DC-3 mold?

I suspect with Hobby Master entering the ring with a DC-3 model that there will be some unique new options. They don't typically recycle old designs, so what hasn't been done yet? What would you like to see?

I would love to see an Air North DC-3:

A CAF version:

CF-CPY (at YVR in November 1959):

...which was restored and converted into the world's largest weathervane in 1977 at Whitehorse International Airport. It remains there today:

I think HM can make a great DC-3 / C-47 mould in 1/72.

I agree. They haven't really explored the large WWII era aircraft like Corgi has. They may not be setup for a mold that size. Then again, the Arrow was a big plane. The DC-3 has a much longer wingspan though. For now, I'm pretty happy they've optioned a 1/200 scale DC-3. Small and easy to collect.

Agreed my man. I believe HMs tooling regulation is 14". They have ton of opportunities to make WWII heavies.

I'd like to see some liveries that were common at Gatwick during the 60s,notably Morton Air Services,a fairly simple scheme,,BUIA and Dan Air.European carriers would include Aer Lingus and Sabena.

I would really like to see NAC (New Zealand) livery. Hobby Master have done some great New Zealand liveries in the past, and this one would please many a kiwi. Maybe not many of you out there. But it would sell well over here.
Incidentally, I am flying on ZK-AMY this Sunday (19th Jan) which will be its final flight before being retired and kept as a static display at the Ashburton Aviation Museum just south of Christchurch here in NZ. I have attached images of both aircraft.

That will be a very memorable experience! I've been meaning to travel up to Yellowknife to fly on a Buffalo Airways DC-3. The opportunities to get a ride on a DC-3 seem to be drying up and it's an experience I MUST have. Those are both beautiful NZ aircraft.

I will be recording the entire flight, so once edited i will post a link to it and some pics. I have flown in AMY several times, but this one will by far be the best flight.
I have always wanted to go in Buffalo's Curtiss Commando. that would be an experience but I don't think they do pax flights in that do they?

I has been desapointed by last models edited (F35, MD11), and even by others (Dc2, Dc4, Dc5, Dc6). So I don't see interest about this new mould, while there are currently a good mould Dc3 by Gemini200 or JC-Wing...

DC 4 was excellent.
DC 5 (?), you certainly mean DC 6 and 7.
DC 7 spinners are too long and even now, I think there is something to be done.

Yeah, the Hobby Master DC 4 mold is fantastic. But hey, each to their own. I agree that Gemini's DC-3 is impressive though. I have both Buffalo Airways releases.

Enjoy your flight today - I also took a flight in ZK-AMY with my boys a couple of years back, a redzone flight over the CBD with Richie McCaw.

Would love HM to give us anything with a ZK rego but AMY in particular

Not many places besides NZ where you could not just fly in a Dak but look over the pilots shoulder and peer out the window at 1000' AGL

1. Northeast Airlines (two of them!) one with blue crown over the cockpit and another (with a different reg.# of course) in the later version with the red NE on the tail.

2. Delta Air Lines with painted white fuselage.

3. Western Airlines with painted eggshell colored fuselage.

4. Northwest Airlines with "Northwest" on the tail.

I've got two Gemini Jets DC-3s and they are exceptionally good. Hobby Master definitely has their work cut out for them if they are going to match or exceed the quality of those models. That said, now there are three companies making one of the most popular airliners in history. With the staggering number of countries who flew DC-3s and C-47s and the countless liveries that have adorned their fuselages... how can we lose by having another player in the DC-3 ring? I say bring it on! I'm usually very happy with Hobby Master's models so I'm quite pleased to see them put out a DC-3. Plus, I've already been speaking with William about a potential future release and he seems to be on board with it.

RCAF Dakota please!

This one was assigned to 1 Canadian Air Division in France supporting the 12 RCAF Squadrons of F-86 Sabres during the 1950s.

The mold exists. Why should any manufacturer be denied the option of putting out their version of one of the world's all-time most beloved and popular aircraft? There's no point in pouting about it. It just opens the door for more liveries which is what excites me.

Not sure if all the Dakotas had air stairs incorporated in the door. May have been standard procedure to use the more user friendly larger wheeled stairs. This can also be seen in the photo below and in the photo you previously posted of the Canadian Pacific DC-3.

Northwest Territorial would be fantastic and would look great next to Hobby Master's NWT Electra. C-GWIR is now owned and operated by Buffalo Airways. Gemini Jets released it in Buffalo's livery a short while back. Here it is in Northwest Territorial colours:

The earlier Northwest Territorial livery would be cool too:

CF-BZI is currently on display at the Aero Space Museum of Calgary:

Last one. The company I work for, Central Mountain Air, also used to operate C-47s. Sadly, between 1989 and 1993, CMA lost three C-47s and eight lives. It's difficult to find photos of Daks in CMA colours, but here are a couple I have managed to locate:

Both of these images are of C-FQNF. C-FQNF was tragically lost when it crashed into the frozen Thutade Lake killing six of the seven people on board on April 4th, 1991. It was en route to Smithers (YYD) from Sturdee Airport (YTC).
